The fortress is impressive. No wonder it repulsed so many attacks and sieges. Maybe this year we will visit it too and your video will be an excellent guide for us :)👌👍
Lovely road trip to Golubac, Serbia and the Fortress. Love the added information and the story of Golubana and Helena. A pleasure to drop by and view in full. Thumbs up #19 Stay Safe and hope you have a wonderful day!
I am Hungarian and the fortress Hungarian name is "Galambóc". The "pigeon" is "galamb" in Hungarian. The "bóc" word is probably a transformed form of "dúc". The "dúc" in the Hungarian meaning "pigeon loft". (A structure for keeping pigeons, usually built on a high place or on legs, with separate enclosures with a lid, where the pigeons intended for breeding nest. ) So the "pigeon loft" in Hungarian is "galambdúc". The galamb in Latin is "columba" and in Greek is "kolumbo" (what means "fly away"). Golubac was replaced in Roman times by a fortress called Columbaria, probably built by Emperor Trajan. It was Trajan who built the road network more thoroughly, and also erected a bridge connecting the two shores of the Iron Gate, the memory of which is preserved by a stone-carved sign, "Tabula Traiana."

Serbian for pigeon is golub! In Romanian it is golumb. It derives from Latin.
