I love the triple meaning in this song with reel/real. She uses it like Reeling back from a situation "Do you reel in some uncertian tale", and then in the sense of camera reel "all you ever wanted was reel" but also in the "real" sense "all you ever wanted was real". Like there's the idea that there were supposed to be real feelings between these two people and they wanted that but it ends up actually just being more "reel" in their heads of meaningless interactions.
Does anyone get a smashing pumpkins 1979 vibe from this?
Yeah! I wanted to write this myself. Mellon Collie is a wonderful album to be inspired from, as well as anything else by Billy Corgan. And for anyone reading this comment, I highly recommend Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness demos, they are amazing.
Not until you mentioned. However, I’d choose this graceful lady’s tune over billy coriander anytime.
