Drummer and the bassist are killing it!
I watched it just for Stella and Jenny Lee.. They are this band for me.
Rachel Anne Davies the voices of theresa and emily are fantastic , but the groove of stella and jenny is the base of warpaint , musically the guitars has a work below bass and drum working , but them can exploit these camps , warpaint is a great band i love it , the drum and bass supplement the great work behind the voices together sound fantastic
Certainly. Overall Jenny-Lee/the rhythm section is about 70% of what I listen to, when I listen to Warpaint, on studio recordings or live.
Mannnn, that bassist is a proper cool cat! Sitting there like a mad bass yogi ✌😎👌
MAHAM q dxxxhh
Jenny Lee Lindberg
Yer a Yogi
AND she plays a Rick!
My favourite cover of a Bowie masterpiece. Captured the spookiness of the original just right.
Mysterious and singular as the original, but with the musical tightness and rhythm of a live performance. Amazing
Can't stop listening to this.. The more I hear it, the more I appreciate it...
me too
I was frightened to listen to this because I love the original version so much, but well done girls, this is amazing
Personally I think their rendition is much better than the original...
@@NakedUndone same! I like more chill music so I love Warpaint's studio version more in general but I love Bowie's if I'm feeling funky lol
"I don't know where I'm going from here, but I promise it won't be boring." #RIP #DavidBowie
They are SO damn tight musically, and as for the folks criticizing the vocals - it's live, and it's their style - and have you heard the original? It's a great cover.
Their vocal style is out of tune on purpose? That horrible mate.
bbrucet3 it's actually the guitars out of tune, and the fact that the lead one keeps playing the wrong chords. if you look you can see she's trying to compensate for an out-of-tune guitar by bending the strings... just sounds weird.
She (Theresa) actually has a detune pedal on her pedal board. They like to teeter on the edge that way. Is it pitchy? Is it spot on? It creates a subtle tension in what is otherwise very pleasant sounding music. It's a method she uses to find her own "voice" on the guitar, and part of what makes the band so interesting.
I absolutely love this band but I don't think this particular song can be covered in a satisfactory way.
The original is too weird, too quirky, too perfect in every regard. I don't even like Bowie's live versions that much compared to the original recording + video.
It is like this song is so synthetic it is not meant to be played live and organic because something is lost.
"it's live and it's their style"
well, which is it?
Are they deliberately out of tune or are they out of tune because it's live?
Can't be both mate.
If you can't sing on key live, you better practice a bit more.
How did I only come across this group until now? What a great cover. Liked the "no smoking crystal " lyric change. I think I'm in love with all of these ladies.
This just so awesome, it works on so many levels! Harmonious, aesthetic, melancholy. It makes me feel happy and sad at the same time. I can't stop re-playing it.
Wow what an amazing cover. Beautifully done. I appreciate this as a lifelong Bowie fan.
I love the laid back quality of her voice, the way it slides up and down
Oh my gosh, I'm melting. Love these girls!
Please, someone stop me right now... I've been pressing the repeat botom for almost an hour. It's insane how much I love this song.
don't stop LOL
Have you stopped yet ?
Listen to the original, it's just as good X 100.
@@Rocketpower713 what made you assume I haven't. Of course, Bowie version is the greatest. I just enjoy this one too.
Gave me goose bumps, just like Bowies did the first time I heard it. Beautiful homage to him.
Truly brilliant version of this song.
I'm an instant fan. It just took several seconds and I love their freaking style. Their great musicians. Very , very , very damn good. RIP Bowie baby, RIP
this is one of the coolest covers I've ever seen. Awesome.
I had forgotten how good this version is. Stella is one of the best rock drummers, Jenni-Lee is an ace bass player and Theresa and Emily can sing and play guitar as well as anyone else around. Go girls!
I came back to this a year later to say the same thing! It is my favourite cover.
🤣
Jenny Lee playing cross-legged
I want to play bass floating like this girl! peace! ✌️
I could listen to this on repeat all day... Ok i will!
I'm a huge David Bowie fan bit I'm also a fan of Cocteau twins and this is like if they had a baby. Airy, ethereal, gentle and raw playing
As a huge huge fan of Dave this is awesome he would be proud.
Bassit in this omg
i love this cover
David Bowie's Angels. This song is a masterpiece. You are my angels for killing it. I feel like you're my daughters. Your Papa Better Be Proud. I'm sure he is. Much love. 👍

Ethereal and hypnotic. Best cover ever.

They are SO GREAT! Makes me want to do a cover myself!
This is a nice version! The bass playing and tone is particularly good here, great playing.
Yes.. These girls are awesome.
Wonderful as always ♥
Such a tough song to cover and I think they nailed all the vocals and weird harmonies that bowie threw in there. Actually amazing musicians.
Excellent cover, of a classic song. Adds a nice depth to a classic, takes nothing away.
Extraordinario!! Lo hicieron de maravilla! Me encanta escuchar esta canción con las voces de Warpaint. Mujeronas!!!
Outstanding. Thank you!
Love you guys! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
R.i.p. David bowie, and Alan rickman, sweet cover.

+SMS CUSTOMS Why are You Typing Like This
Matt Webb Typing like What ??? Are you an English Teacher grading Spelling on You Tube or just want to act like your smart bc your in 3rd track ?
I don't know what the hell "3rd track" is but usually people don't capitalize every word in a sentence
There isn't a rule to be a "usual" person ;)

Una versión fina y minimalista. Y con un final muy loco.
with a jazzy feel to it, nice!
Hermoso cover
YOU GURLS ARE AWESOME
Loving the drums
Excellent, tears, real!
would love to see their full set here on youtube! they make the perfect mood!
Could be wrong but I'm left feeling the Glasto audience didn't quite 'Get' Warpaint. Which is surprising because I thought and hoped this would be the ideal setting for their stuff. Oh well good luck S.T.J-L& E
Dick Durkin totally, No one was really grooving out to them :(
Dick Durkin i think it was just the wrong slot for them, most of the audience was probably waiting for imagine dragons, hense why they didn't "get" warpaint, i think it's awesome that they're playing the bigger stages but i think playing higher up the bill on the park stage would have suited them better (brilliant performance though, just a shame it was lost of the crowd)
They should have turned on pretty stage lights , a drum machine and a very basic groove in the background for the Glasto crowd.
They all seemed to like pretty stage effects and simpler music.
