Greece is our go to and as my grandfather fought during WW2 in Crete for the Māori Battalion (NZ) for Allies, that’s has such a special place in our heart and is always a compulsory to visit.
Greece, my favorite country on earth. It has so much incredible and dramatic beauty and it has so so many faces. Try to travel to Epirus in North Greece, or Peloponnese, or Pindus mountains, Tzoumerka mountains, or visit islands like Samothraki, Thassos, Skopelos, Lemnos, Kefalonia And so on. Mainland Greece is very beautiful, it is 80% mountains. And around every corner you find a incredible new beauty with many gems and spectacular natural scenery. Definitely worth checking out the world of mountains and the winter and spring beauty on mainland Greece. Im mentioning mainland because the mainland is like as if you experience Symi, Milos or other incredible islands for the first time with the imagination that they are very unknown. Mainland Greece draws same level of wonders all around in every corner and yet is entirely unknown. Ofcourse this also accounts for countless other islands as well. Im saying this because if you love finding new faces of Greece then there are so so many to be explored. Also yes. Greece has exceptional water quality of on average a whopping 97% while it has 16.000km of coastline (annual EU reports year in year out). So to have that level of water quality is truly top notch. Greece is in the top 3 together with Cyprus and Malta while the other 2 are islands. Malta is smaller than many individual Greek islands. So Greece is the only country at the top in all of Europe like that.

Been in Symi. Gorgeous. Greece has so many wonderful islands and the mainland too. Stunning. People are still unaware of these many hidden beauties of Greece. One can need a lifetime to see it all in Greece. Pretty much my most favorite place on earth. I can travel through Greece and be amazed every single time, in every corner of the country. Tip. Try to look on a map in Greece and try to check areas you normally never look at or think about. Do a little bit of research and find out how stunning the area is, filled with mountains, caves, sea and coasts, hotsprings, wetlands, historical sites, hiking paradise, lakes, delta's, spectacular and diverse nature scenery, gorges, anything. It's like flowing from one different beauty into another on a single day. And every day can be unique and so wholesome
l love Symi too . l am visiting oftenly. l am a yacht captain . The buildings are neo classic renewed İtalian style. l hope you also visited Panormitis , Saint Emiliano , Pedi , Saint George and Sesklie island . People are very friendly and honest in the island. Thank you for the lovely video .
One of the main Streets in Symi town voted as the most beautiful street in whole world 😮 Glad that my compatriots put all the virtuosity to form a place like this. I wish that more places in Greece were like this but in the end the diversity in landscapes and architecture is one of a kind in this world
Symi has some of the deepest waters I've ever seen. I remember spear fishing and touching the sheer cliff with my hand and the water dropped down into the abyss like more than 50 meters down.
Absolutely SPECTACULAR island!!!! The colors are so gorgeous! It reminds me of entering Portofino in Italy by boat with all the similar colors of the houses. Truly the most beautiful of all the islands and I LOVE the place you are staying. It is completely charming. What a way to end your stay in the islands. Chris i saw in this video you like mountains too. You should visit Epirus , it is north west in the borders with Albania. Breathtaking scenery in Vikos Gorge , amazing little stone villages scatered around the mountains , rivers you can raft on and drink water from cause the water is pure and fresh from the mountain springs. Local delicacies ofc and the amazing hospitallity of the rugged mountain people of my country. If Carol likes jewellery she can find the famous gold and silver craftshmen of Epirus , they are one of the best in the world. In fact the brand Bulgari is made from a Greek from those parts. Stay safe and have fun wherever you go guys.
Symi was the scenerie for the music video for the Greek Eurovision song 2022 "die together" with Amanda Tenfjord and everyone kept asking which is the island.
My family has a house near Datca. I’ve been going there since 1989. I always look and see symi but have never been there as the ferry no longer operates 😢. I’d like to see symi one day. I would recommend the Datca peninsula. You can take a ferry from Rhodos to Marmaris

Rhodes is gorgeous too. There is no 2nd Rhodes anywhere. But also no 2nd Symi. That's a bit the moral of the story in Greece. You can go to many places in Greece and have a completely unique experience. Rhodes with it's Rhodes old town is wonderful and the oldest and biggest medieval city in Europe if not the world, or Kalithea springs, Lindos or butterfly valley and so on.
Agreed. And then also Epirus, Aoos gorge, Vikos gorge, hike some mountains: Tymfi+ its dragonlake, Olympus, Agrafa, Tzoumerka, Giona, Taygetus, and so on. Meteora is gorgeous but there are so many other incredible places on Greece's mainland but just like 90% of Greece's islands very unadvertised. There was a time where even these more famous Greek islands where once also not famous. Did the beauty start when it became famous? The beauty was ofcourse always immense. And the same goes for many many places on mainland Greece that are entirely unknown but gorgeous. One day there may be more places in Greece getting the rightful love, but the beauty will always be there

Gosh, how the island has changed! I barely recognise it. I chucked up my job in London and the first island I decided to visit was Simi. That was forty years ago. I stayed for two months - loved every minute of it. So utterly quiet and serene; so beautiful; very different in look to nowadays; really quite cut off from the outside world. Visited there last summer. My absolute favorite place in Greece! @11:30 that beach is more beautiful than it appears on the screen. Also not too far but, a ferry ride is the monastery of archangel Michael which is absolutely beautiful.

Great to see you both on the Greek Islands, I have visited a lot of the islands, I prefer the quieter Islands, but have also enjoyed the busier ones like Santori and Mykonos, and many many years ago spent time on Ios ( Irish over seas). We took a taxi to pedi beach very quiet with goats running around then and kids coming over to play, and we went with a boat trip to the monestry from archangel Michael in panormitis very isolated but charming
The buildings remind me of Parga on the mainland. Super beautiful. Any plans to visit my family’s island of Samos? Great island to rent a car and explore. Not many tourists.

A very beautiful video! The stone towers at the top of the hill were part of the original fortress and were called parapets. They were used for cannons to fire on raiding ships coming into harbor.

A very beautiful video! The stone towers at the top of the hill were part of the original fortress and were called parapets. They were used for cannons to fire on raiding ships coming into harbor.
