I've always wondered because it looked so real and not staged. Like an acc group of friends hanging out and laughing about something rather than actors acting. Idk if it was scripted but either way it's my favourite scene because of how much it reminds me of hanging out with friends and laughing at co-workers type thing
@@olliewest153 apparently, once they got a take as written, they let the actors do the scene again with any improvs they wanted to try. A lot of them made it onto the show and I think this was one of them.
When you love the show so much that you know the cold opens by heart but it doesn’t matter because you’d watch them all over again in a heartbeat… NINE-NINE!
most underrated running gag in tv show of all time: Holt reintroducing himself to Kevin on the phone or even in person. Climax in the Interrogation Cold Open where you can hear him spell in the backgroung H-O-L...
Rest in peace Andre Braugher. You played an incredible police officer in two tv series and you were an incredible man in real life. You will be deeply missed.
The Full Bullpen has to be one of my favourite of all time. The look on Amy's face as it starts out with pride in her eyes and then turns into horror. And then Holt's reaction at the end. Classic.
I think the most memorable experience of the show is initially thinking that Holt is the only sane man coming into the department… and steadily realizing that he is absolutely *not*.
Love Hitchcock’s face at hearing Rosa was going back to punching him instead of the vending machine.🤣 Also, it’s hard not to laugh at the Holt, Rosa and Jake coffee-induced hyper state.😂
“Whats happening rosa’s the one wearing pink” “And?” “It’s gorgeous wish I could pulled that off” “Dream on strawberry shortcake” Ohh god this is one of my favorite cold opens and probably one of the underrated ones 😂
The face of the vending machine guy when they salute a vending machine is like “these are the people that supposed to protect us?” Then they confirm he’s right to think so when they run for free candy lol
Love the moment where Holt admits the opera he's going to attend is the one Bugs Bunny sings. Just that slight look of "would prefer if that WASN'T the only reason Jake knew about that but, yeah, he's right."
These openings are pretty cool, but there is obviously one missing. The "I WANT IT THAT WAY" Opening from 5x17 "DFW". It´s one of the best, maybe even THE best. It doesn´t matter how many times i watch it, it´s always great.
I can't get enough of the "marshed mallow", "I want it that way" and "bone?" scenes. Anytime, any day. And of course, all the Doug Judy monstrosity, he owned the B99 in every appearance!
People always talk about Holt reaction yelling The FullBull pen!!! But can we talk about the extra in the custody room's door cheering on Jake? Dude is working his two second's on tv, like rent is due tomorrow.
The best part about the marshmallow thing is that you know from the moment Boyle does it, Holt will show up and prove him right, but it's so good that, even though you can see it coming, it'd hilarious.
I find it hilarious that nobody notices Jake/Andy fully push Charles/Joe to the ground in the vending machine cold open. When the vending machine breaks and opens, Charles/Joe hits the ground and nobody says anything.
Boyle correctly guessing Holt's marshmallow reaction will forever be one of his most iconic moments.
'I knew it!'
A marshed mallow.
@@mooferoo the way he phrased that is so funny. It makes me wonder so many things, what is a mallow, how do you marsh it. What is marshing hahaha
@@bripa3890 Haha yeh. And then the ridiculously over the top reaction that Holt sometimes swings over to unexpectedly. I love Holt so much.
For sure
I will never every get over how Captain Holt goes from "Peralta" to "Jacob" to "Son".
"game of catch"-
I never realized how quiet the room got when he said dad
@ragnarokem8887 No because how did everyone hear him say dad. Literally everyone stopped instantly and stared
@rsdwarrior2790 literally though it was unnerving
@@ragnarokem8887 yeah but how did they all hear him say Dad over all the noise?
The "Boyle sleeping with an elderly" will always be my favorite . The reaction was genuine from all the actors.

YES!!! OMG I can't...
@@olliewest153 apparently, once they got a take as written, they let the actors do the scene again with any improvs they wanted to try. A lot of them made it onto the show and I think this was one of them.
@@olliewest153You can even hear Andy Samberg mutter "Joe" in-between laughing, referring to Boyle's actor. The reactions were so, so genuine.
God this makes that scene so much better thank you for telling us omg ily KANDJDKE
Holt calling a marshmallow a “Marshed Mallow” is the most Holt thing ever
I read that as hot and I was like “oh- 😀”
@@Bubaielwell yeah that too
@@ThisDude234📸🤨
That is pretty Holt, but I’d say the MOST Holt thing is him spelling his last name to his own husband.
I don't care for it *classical music*
Holt yelling “THE FULL BULLPEN” always gets me 💀😂
I thought he was going to be mad at first
When you love the show so much that you know the cold opens by heart but it doesn’t matter because you’d watch them all over again in a heartbeat… NINE-NINE!

YEAHHH!

I already knew this but I felt heartboken again after reading you
JAKE DOING THE FULL BULL PEN IS MY FAVORITE, JAKE'S FACE WHILE SLIDING ACROSS THE FLOOR IS PRICELESS !
For me, hearing Terry yelling "YES!" while Jake is doing the full bullpen in slow motion is priceless
How have I only JUST noticed that Amy's ex, the "wedding singer" is in the holding cell as well.
Sorry all I saw in your comment was "BULL PEN IS"
IT IS SUCH A MOMENT FOR SURE
Watch any Lonely Island video; his face is constantly wild
Jake screaming long after Boyle parked the truck is one of my favourite scenes 😂
food truck grand prix
Jake's reaction to the copy guy getting a special handshake will always be my favorite
Holt's pettiness is unmatched 😂 just when Jake thought he made it through Holt goes,"Goodbye..." 😂😂😂
"No, I will *BREAK* you."
@@jazzbassrocker And he broke him like gugenheim plays the flute
Holt knew that was the Master movie to finally broke Jake
...THE COPY GUY??!!
"that's somebody Grandma!" and then Andy laughing haha never gets old 😂❤
The impressions of holt eating a marshmallow and "I want it that way"cold opens will always be everyone's favourite.
My personal favourite is Holt in Jake and Amy’s bedroom all prepped for the Heist
Can't beat the Full Bullpen. Although the first time I saw the Mad Max one I was crying with laughter
The Full Bullpen has to be one of my favourite of all time. The look on Amy's face as it starts out with pride in her eyes and then turns into horror. And then Holt's reaction at the end. Classic.
And the kiss too
Jake pranking Hitchcock twice but Hitchcock almost dying in the end both times are two of the most hilarious cold opens.
I love how each episode of b99 starts with a cold opening, it’s one part of the series that makes it unique and hilarious 🤝🤝
not to be that guy but hilarious? absolutely. unique? not rly, a lot of the biggest sitcoms have cold opens and even dramas have them sometimes
@@beansman4543 yes but they rarely have one every single episode
@@justyourfriendlyneighbourh1268 thats fair my bad
@@justyourfriendlyneighbourh1268 the office did it every episode, but idk about other sitcoms
@@Idiot_TaylorsVersion yeah i'm not sure if it parks and rec did it too, I did NOT fact check that lol
Knowing that the "oldest bags" one is improved is the best. Andy has such an adorable genuine laugh 😂
"It's a suicide mission" "THEN PREPARE FOR DEATH" is probably my favorite one ever
I think the most memorable experience of the show is initially thinking that Holt is the only sane man coming into the department… and steadily realizing that he is absolutely *not*.
What jake did with the dentist was pure genius. Right down to him preparing the room to make his ocd act up.
Everyone pulling a fast one on Charles on Halloween never fails to crack me up.
so many awesome scenes..... incredible writers, director, editors and acting
No matter how many times we have watched almost all the cold opens of B99....We can watch them all over again with the same excitement❤
8:12 Jake’s little laugh is actually adorable omfg 😭😭
Apparently that wasn’t scripted either
I love the line, "if Rosa has a twin, she would have eaten her in the womb."
i love when rosa wears a pink shirt because everyone’s shocked and she looks so good in it
Love Hitchcock’s face at hearing Rosa was going back to punching him instead of the vending machine.🤣
Also, it’s hard not to laugh at the Holt, Rosa and Jake coffee-induced hyper state.😂
Never observed Hitchcock there...hilarious also the free candy and Boyle pushed over by Jake😂
16:30 I love that Hitchcock and Scully are both mustard, meaning they both assumed the other one would be ketchup.
Jake pushing boyle without any mercy 😭 5:20
😂😂😂 he almost seems like "Oh Jake wants me to dive that way"
Captain Holt saying "MARSHED MELLOW"😂...it justifies more that he is eating marshmallows for the first time🤣🤣🤣
The marshmallow, food truck parking space and the handshake ones are my personal favorites lol
Food truck one is really underrated😂
You owe us 47 seconds of cold opens.
😂 the fact that I know what you are talking about instantly just proves how amazing that moment was
“Whats happening rosa’s the one wearing pink”
“And?”
“It’s gorgeous wish I could pulled that off”
“Dream on strawberry shortcake”
Ohh god this is one of my favorite cold opens and probably one of the underrated ones 😂
The face of the vending machine guy when they salute a vending machine is like “these are the people that supposed to protect us?” Then they confirm he’s right to think so when they run for free candy lol
Hitchcock saying “Labia” never fails to make me laugh 😂😂
One of the (many) things that make this show great are the cold opens. I call them masterpieces in minutes
I was kinda down today..
This video is just what my heart needed
Love the moment where Holt admits the opera he's going to attend is the one Bugs Bunny sings. Just that slight look of "would prefer if that WASN'T the only reason Jake knew about that but, yeah, he's right."
"Do you want to know how I actually hurt my wrist?... I was Hula-Hooping" 🤣
I love how Holt didn't care at all and just took the W for the full bullpen!
9:10 just love how Andy Samberg and Andre Braugher just go full out on the dramatics.
These openings are pretty cool, but there is obviously one missing. The "I WANT IT THAT WAY" Opening from 5x17 "DFW". It´s one of the best, maybe even THE best. It doesn´t matter how many times i watch it, it´s always great.
Facts
TELL ME WHYYYYYY
That's how I introduced people to the show
That’s how I got introduced to the show lol
Hitchcock being absolutely confused to hear about Jake and Amy being together 😂
I can't get enough of the "marshed mallow", "I want it that way" and "bone?" scenes. Anytime, any day.
And of course, all the Doug Judy monstrosity, he owned the B99 in every appearance!
12:25 when Holt starts spelling his own name to Kevin
This is my favorite show of all time. So effortlessly funny but also makes you care for every character
5:18 “FREE CANDY!!!” 💀🤣
I always loved Jake pranking Scully where he ends up drowning or strangling himself with shoelaces 😂😂😂😂
Holt spelling his last name for Kevin over the phone for the ticket reservation is so subtle yet so incredibly funny 😂
1:53 Rosa got that walk down ❤
5:19 the way boyle got slammed to the floor 😂
2:43 I just love the way she says this.
One of the very few shows that you never get tired of ♥️ huge fan from SL
People always talk about Holt reaction yelling The FullBull pen!!! But can we talk about the extra in the custody room's door cheering on Jake? Dude is working his two second's on tv, like rent is due tomorrow.
Best B99 cold open "I want it that way"
It will always be my headcanon that the "holt impression" ending was improvised and they let the Holt actor choose which one.
I love how Holt clearly doesnt want to say yes when Jake asks him if the opera he's going to is the one bugs bunny sings 😂
@12:28 not captain holt spelling his name out to his husband 😂
13:06 “Goodbye Boyle” 🪈🐍
The best part about the marshmallow thing is that you know from the moment Boyle does it, Holt will show up and prove him right, but it's so good that, even though you can see it coming, it'd hilarious.
"RAATATATATAT CHUCKIE B WITH DA BURNER...RRAINING HOT FIRE!!!!" 😅😅😅😅😅😅
This is one the best compilation ever XD
I like how jake called captain holt thanks dad instead of thanks man 😂😂😂😂😂
How could he even have that much breath to scream😂😂
Best.
Show.
Ever.
The hitchcock spilling spaghetti sauce on him one is so iconic
I can't stop laughing 😂😂😂
The full bull pin 3:40 🤣🤣🤣
the best part of the FBP is when Holt raises Jake's hand and shouts it after the elevator door opens up again
Thank you so much for doing this you done a good job 👏🏽 👍🏾
Is it just me or are the opens ten times funnier when it’s halfway through the scene and then the theme tune comes in ‘DUDUDUDUDUUUUU’
Oh Boyle🤣🤣🤣. And when you least expect it, Boyle's Holt expression was the correct one 😂😂
My favourite Holt line is "marshed mallow" it's so freaking adorable for some reason
I find it hilarious that nobody notices Jake/Andy fully push Charles/Joe to the ground in the vending machine cold open. When the vending machine breaks and opens, Charles/Joe hits the ground and nobody says anything.
The best one ever for me is the one where Boyle makes the Diane Weast joke
Oh man. That was fantastic!
15:45 jake dancing was epic😂😂
Watching this after hearing of Andre Braugher’s passing. Oh captain my captain 🫡
Gotta be the holt Jake yelling at each other startling Hitchcock, that probably took a couple of takes trying to be serious
Love this, GO NINE NINE!!
This show is awesome! I was cracking up
The cold opens were the best.
🤣
Especially those involving Jake being himself like Backstreet Boys one 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
RIP captain. You'll always be Brooklyn nine-nine captain ❤
That's it, I'm officially about to rematch this whole series.
Exactly what i needed
Boyle saying "I'm noooormal" gets me crackin everytime :D
This is literally how I fall asleep every night
the 68 year old scene had to be unscripted at the end that was genuine laughter
My favourite one is the one with the red hat, always leaves me in stitches!! 😂🤣
Rosa looking BAD in pink 😍🤣
I just noticed that even Scully was disgusted by Boyle bagging an old woman. 😂
When the vending machine broke and boyle was going for it and jake destroyed him lol😂😂😂
I love Holt saying marshed mallow!
At 1:48 - what a stop by the background cop with that door!
If you have watched Brooklyn nine-nine more than 5 times and you are a huge fan

Jake Rosa and Holt saying there speaking at normal pace and saying yep is the best
A lot of these are strong contenders, but my favourites are Jake making the lineup perform Backstreet Boys, and the Wiest Infection pun.
* I'm so glad that the FBP made it in here, that's my favourite cold open
only watched a couple of episodes so far. it does give me kind of scrubs vibes. holt and peralta seem to have that chemistry like jd and cox
Parking spot and Hitchcock with sauce are my favorite
I like how jake brought the music and I like how everybody said STOP JAKE at the same time 😂😂😂😂😂😂
