this is my first crack at editing a video in a long time. Luckily, GoPro has some good software to help me out!
👍
Great use of space. I use some of the tips you guys have with my hybrid. Thanks

Hey buddy I'm catching this video pretty late but if you get a chance to see this how had it held up? Any major issues two years later? I guess my main concern is how well the canvas covering of the bunk held up two years in? I would definitely recommend getting a suitcase solar panel especially if you're going to be boondocking. It's amazing what even just a little trickle charge will do. Did you end up doing solar panels on the roof? Hope all is well happy camping awesome video
Hey! We still love our camper, we bought it in 2019 and have spent quite a bit of time in it now. We've not had any issues with our tent ends, other than the kids pushing on them. It's super simple to put back in the channels when they do. We make sure they are dry whenever we pack up. We haven't added solar yet, but we have picked up a few solar accessories that we take with us for smaller things.
Thank you for this review! I love these trailers and you’re right - there’s no reviews out there by owners. I’d love to know if you’re still liking this trailer.
We still enjoy our camper a lot! We even stayed in it last summer from end of June to mid-September last year. We are, of course, always updating some things and will be making some changes to it this summer. But we love this camper and really don't have any complaints!
Nice tour. I have a 21SS as well. I put A removable dowel with eye hooks in the shower to use as a wardrobe and added shelves to the “wardrobe“ and use that to store pantry items. When I use the shower I simply remove the dowel with the clothes attached to it. It is my best mod yet. Try it, I think you’ll like it.
Thanks! We need to do an update because we have made some mods recently that I think would benefit everybody.
I'm glad to know what real owners think about this trailer. All the information about how much storage you have is really useful. Great video, you did a good job. Sending my best to your children, and hoping they are building lots of wonderful memories.
We have the same trailer. I converted the closet into a pantry. I got those wire grid cube things. Cut one side of a few grids the width of the cabinet Zip tied some grids around to fit the length and width inside. Then fit this inside the cabinet. Then zip tie grids to the frame to make shelves. I measured items like boxes and cans so I knew where to zip the shelf. We also purchased a rolling cart. Metal with wood butcher block top. It fits in the space between the bathroom and closet with the slide closed. We put screw eyes in the wall in front of the bed around the storage opening there. Then use heavy duty bungee cords to hold in place. Cover the top with a blanket so as not to ding the walls. Gives us a great cooking prep station and ton# more storage.
Can’t hear you over the music
2 pounds of hair spray.. too go out on the water .. gotta look good lol
Should show kids to get off and on in the water . Cause if they fall in they get scared and don’t want to redo it
Our kids love the paddleboards. Our youngest frequently likes to nap while my wife or I paddle around. Or they just use them for jumping off of.
Good job! Keep knees slightly bent
Sweetest little kid 🙏❤️
Great review. Really nicely detailed look at this board and it was interesting to see your first-hand experience with it. Serious question though, and this is not meant to be offensive, but whenever I see videos from America, I always wonder why nearly all Americans are quite a bit bigger in frame by comparison to most others. Why is that? I’ve seen this in so many videos from people in America now that it’s really noticeable. Is it the food? The portion size? I’m seriously wondering.
Good video! That fish-eye makes really hard to watch though...
Outstanding review!
Thanx for all the info! I have 2 questions. 1. do you HAVE TO open both bed areas? If its just hubby and I , we only need the one bed. Thought it might help with temp control to leave one closed. Question 2, how do those bed pop outs hold up on windy days? can or do u leave them popped open if you go off for the day? Thanx for any info, We are trying to narrow down what we should choose for our first RV!!😁
You absolutely don't have to leave them open. When we had just a quick overnight stop, we would let the kids sleep on the sofa. We leave them open when out for the day, you can always place locks on the zipper closures inside if you are worried. The tents hold up pretty well during wind and storms.
Love the video man. I agree that there is a strangely low number of videos on these trailers. Appreciate all the tips for storage!! Our 233S is getting delivered some time in February
Great review .. there are so many brands of SUP I like the iRocker boards as well as the Aqua Marina ones. I know they are referred to as stand up paddle boards, but some folk add a kayak type seat and paddle them sitting down. Have you tried that ? Regards from the UK
We sit and paddle, but haven't added the kayak seat set up. It's easy enough to do though!
@@lifeexistentially6004 in the end I bought the Bluefin Cruise 10'8" which came with kayak seat and a free 12V pump. A great board.
Now that you have had the board for a year, have you been able to fit all your accessories into the bag? I just got my board and I haven't figured out how to fit the hand pump and all the accessories into the bag. I am wondering if you had any tips or maybe you could share a video with those of that are new to the sport? Thanks
It definitely takes some practice and if we don't roll the board just right, everything won't fit. But we can definitely do an update!
I would guess that iROCKER has paid for all of these positive UA-cam reviews. We bought 2 of these based on positive reviews. What a mistake. iROCKER is a terrible company! Wish we'd gone with Atoll. Trying to get a hold of the company is next to impossible. They delete any negative comments on social media and they rarely answer emails, never answer phone calls or chat. One board arrived with faulty stitching on the handle, they refuse to replace the handle. 20 days after our purchase they lowered the price on the SUPS by $270 each and they will not credit the difference! That's $540 more we paid on our order than the sale price!!! THIS IS THE WORST COMPANY I HAVE DEALT WITH. Seriously, ignore the positive reviews of their product and buy SUPs from another company like RED or Atoll. One more thing the Action mounts are literally useless. They use non standard thread instead of 1/4 20 so literally nothing but their accessories attach to the mounts and their accessories are just cheap rebranded garbage. They're also placed in the wrong place for action cameras
I'm sorry you've had such a bad experience. This board was my wife's birthday present last year, definitely not a paid for review, and she absolutely loves her board, even a year later.
We are not sponsored by iRocker. We genuinely liked their product. I haven't experienced the issue that you mention, but it only issue was the way they laminated the grip to this board. After a year it started delaminating. A little marine glue and no worries.
FANTASTIC video! I’m looking at 2019 Roo right now to purchase and this video was extremely helpful.
Glad to help! Hope you like your camper!
I own the pop up version of this camper..and you are installing the clips on the end of the ramps the wrong way..that is why you said you had to beat it in and had a hard time with it..it just goes in there strait down..not sideways like you had it. Just letting you know. Great video though!
This is the one I wanted thanks for confirming.
Are you still happy with your purchase today? We are looking at the different Rockwood Roos and we're wondering about long term ownership and or feeling the need to upgrade.
For me, location really makes this camper. It's tolerable in the southeast where we currently are, but it was much nicer in the west, i.e Colorado where the ac/ heat weren't necessary for most of the time and humidity was lower. We still love this camper, but as our location changes, so do our priorities. This is a great 3 season camper in the south (summer being the out season) and a decent 4 season one in the west. The heated seats made the difference for us in the Colorado mountains when it was low 30s every night for our month stay. It's high ground clearance allows you to go further off road than most and the toy hauler is really advantageous
@@lifeexistentially6004 Thank you so much for your prompt reply! Your answers really helped tremendously. We're on the west coast but I'm not a big fan of summer camping unless we're headed to high elevations where it doesn't get above the 80s. It helps knowing there wasn't any regret based on the trailer itself. Thanks again for the detailed review and prompt response!
What toys have you put on the hauler part and what tongue weights did you have? I would like to carry a suzuki burgman and a honda ctx, combined 1000 pounds.
Max weight for the deck is 1300 lbs. I have carried my z900 and Kayaks on it. So nowhere near max. I don't recall the tongue weight, sorry.
@@lifeexistentially6004 Thank!
Enjoyed the review and video. Is it possible that you could post a video or info on using the camper without the beds folded out? Or maybe just one end folded out? I'd like to see it from the inside (where do the mattresses go when beds are up) and from the outside. Also how much trouble letting the beds out and return. My buddy has a much older (1980s) similar type setup which I like but the inside is pretty cramped, no slide out etc. Maybe another video out there.... Thanks again
We'll be taking it out in a few weeks and can definitely post an update about that!
Thanks for taking the time to make this!!
FYI ~ The solution for the condensation is to keep a tiny corner of one of the canvas windows open....
Thank you for the review, I just got mine delivered. Also heads up, I couldn't really hear you over the music at the beginning or the end.
Be aware when you buy a Forest River. They do not provide any customer service after the purchase. We had several issues with our camper one of them was the moride steps. They did not put a latch on the steps to the steps from smashing into the door and damaging the door. When we took it in they said it was normal operation and there is nothing they can do about it and charged us for looking at the camper. When the factory installed the fill tube and vent tube for a freshwater tank they ran in such a way that it creates a trap in the tube which causes a vacuum lock in the line which stops the water from being pumped out of the tank until you clear and vacuum like. Once again we took the RV and I was told again that that is normal operation and there's nothing they can do about it. And once again was charged a service charge for doing nothing to help us. As of the day I'm stuck with the lousy workmanship of forest river. And this was all within 3 to 4 months of purchasing our camper.
Did it come with charging outlets in cabinet beneath the tv?
Yes those chargers were there. We added the chord storage and velcro for the controller
Awesome, awesome, awesome review!
Thanks for the very thorough video, I own a 2020 roo19, love it, good hack for fan light hanging with the line and clip
Are you happy with the Roo 19? We are pondering one now and wondering how people feel about the expandable trailers long term
Thank you for this review! Lots of useful info to help us make our decision. Wish more folks did this!
Thank you for this video! Very helpful! What size would you say the beds are that fold out from the dinette and sofa? And for the queen beds did you add any mattress toppers or anything like that? Thanks!
The sofa is in between a full and queen i would say. The dinette is about the same but its shorter. I am about 6' and don't fit head to toe. But for kids its thenperfect size, or anyone below 5'10". We slept for 3 months on the normal mattress before deciding to get a mattress topper. Its a luxury, for sure! And it takes up considerable space when we are traveling
Thank you for your video. We just bought a new-to-us 2015 Roo 233s. We had a 2006 Jayco hybrid and needed a 3rd drop out bed for my adult sized kids (21 and 18 and they still camp with us 😀). Question for you - how many or how much reflective rolls did you buy? I definitely think I will be making the deflectors for the windows (and buy the top covers). I’m concerned most about the back bunk being too warm or cold.
I think we bought the 4' x 10' roll. We had enough to do two bunks and all of the windows in the main body
@@lifeexistentially6004 ohhh, even the other windows. Didn’t think of that. Thank you for answering so quickly! Have a great day.
very boring. We don't need a tour, just a review
Thank you for your opinion. We decided to do a review and walk through because of the lack of decent walk throughs made for campers and RVs.
Lisa, you seem lovely
Totally agree, he is boring, took way too long.
LOL, Lisa & Linda should change their name to Karen.
I turned our closet into a pantry. We took wire grid and cut to fit horizontal. Zipp tied pieces to create sides and back. Then zipp tied the horizontal pieces at various spaces to accommodate boxes, cans and whatever else we take for food. Installed a battery motion light to see inside better a night.
That's a great idea. We have been pretty fortunate to not need more pantry space (for now). We usually store all bedding in the closet while traveling and then use it as a closet while camping. But converting to usable pantry space makes a lot of sense as well.
love this review
Great video, thanks for taking the time to post this. We are selling our HW pop-up (which we love) and are looking into this model so we can carry some bikes. How has the toy hauler worked out for actually hauling things? I’m wanting to be able to carry about 3-4 dirt bikes. Have you ran into any issues with loading things? BTW, That external fuel pump is awesome.... I want lol...
Jeremy, thanks! Ive had no issues. I have put my z900 sportbike up there (450 ish lbs) and separately 2 four wheelers with no troubles. The only issue i had was that one of the welds didnt hold on the cleat, which was covered under warranty. I traveled across the country with my motorcycle strapped to it with no issues.
Life, Existentially Thanks for the info! Have a good day bud!
the charging port problem is 100% a design issue.. it happen to me 3 times now. just fixed it today again. u need remove the 360 part and put the rubber back in and tight the crew.
Thanks for sharing what you had to do for condensation on cold nights and to keep tent ends cooler. I had a pop up 35 years ago without air. So always left flaps partially open for airflow. I'm considering buying a Roo 235s with new 12v refrigerator and factory solar. What I liked most about the pop up was when it rained. Very relaxing hearing rain on canvas. All the best.
Steve S. Leave a couple canvas area windows open a little and that helps with condensation and if running your heater it helps with possible fumes.
@@DianesPaperArt I think I found the solution in someone else's video. There are small low cost dehumidifiers by Eva-dry and others that plug in and have a small water collection reservoir. Water vapor from your breath is condensating on canvas. Hopefully this helps.
Looks awesome! Would you buy it again? Hows the customer service? I heard it was terrible. Love the look and idea of it just not sure how I feel about $1500 price tag lol. Also has the board cracked at all from the pre-drilled holes for the bindings? Seen another video and the dude said it was cracking.
I havent seen any cracking. Customer service is slow, but i wouldnt say terrible. Also you have to consider they are in california, and their protocols rn are kind of rediculous due to covid. Honestly, i really enjoy it and would buy again. I dont use it to commute, but i would probably buy a more convential electric board for commuting anyway, the inefficiency of sliding to steer limits the range. My biggest issue so far is that the set key on one of the wheels doesnt keep it in place, so i have to manually push the drive wheel back to the center of the housing to prevent wheel-housing friction. Its still my favorite thing to ride around and i get plenty of bystandards who stop to ask about it
its true. i bought two this summer. the board cracked in 1 time once you put the foothold on. and then i notice that it actually already cracked when its new. but for now still working well nothing really affect the playing. they told me the new board deck coming this oct then we can replace. i bought few freebord deck too, if not trying to replace them then. the feeling once you master the board its really snowboarding feeling to me. nothing can compete this. just the quality can be still improved. im pretty sure they will do it better. it really a good way to enjoy snowboarding. but it is harder than snowboarding for sure.
Very nice video. And it was a very good information for me and my family.
Thank you!
The loud fan is great for noisier camping locations. Helps sleep through the noise.
My wife loves sleeping with it on. It drives me nuts!
Thanks for the review. We have been looking to upgrade from our Keystone passport hybrid. If you don’t mind us asking, about what price range does your model settle in at?
It was right around 31000.
I have found best price from RV wholesalers. Between $20k - $25k but you have to use their financing. They said in a video that dealers get a big kickback from banks and they pass it on to the customers. I'm looking at the 235s which has outside kitchen, fireplace and 43 in TV. Cost is $24,000 from them.
@@imillionaires that is who we bought ours thru. Saved us 7,000.00.
@@cassiekrusemark3611 I ended finding a dealer only 20 minutes from the Rockwood factory in Indiana that charges even less called Wanna RV. The only reason I looked was that it will take 10 weeks to get our 2 Roo's (my son's and mine) so we wanted Spring delivery. Wanna RV can arrange Spring delivery. All the campgrounds are closed in the area in Mid November and we want to make an adventure out of getting our Roos together. I was looking forward to that lakefront state campground right by RV Wholesalers.
Thank you for your excellent review. I definitely am going to look into purchasing one of these, but have one concern. Maybe you could answer or someone on this thread who has a hybrid trailer can answer. We don't plan to stay in many RV parks (but this could be an issue at say Yellowstone), but go off grid most times. My question is - is it safe with bears possibly being able to smell food inside due to the canvas pop outs and attempting entrance?
That is a great question. I wish i had an answer but i imagine that while cooking, yes they could smell the food. However, im not sure if you could smell it once it is stored in the fridge. You could always use zip lock bags to mitigate any additional food smells and make sure you take your trash every night. Ive seen some people who just lock theor bunks up during the day when they are not at their campsite. I would reach out to a hybrid/pop up forum and post your question.
Bears will smell your food in a hard side trailer also
Nice 🤙🤙
Great video. Thank you! We are considering a Rockwood Roo 233S.
