How to pressure transfer from a fermenter to a ball lock keg

- One thing I didn't mention, you should have the fermenter and receiving keg at the same pressure before you connect any of the lines. This means that gas or liquid won't suddenly shoot through the line.
The spunding valve is there to initiate the transfer slowly, if you don't have one, you can just pull the pressure relief valve (PRV) on the keg to create a pressure drop.
Great video. I was wondering how to keep track of the transferred volume when using a steel fermenter (not see through) but I came to realise that a normal personal scale and going by weight is excellent, just tare the Cornelius keg. Simple advice but may be useful to someone.
Great video! Thanks mate!
Is there a way to do this without the spunding valve? Perhaps just by purging as it fills?
You can do that. Using the spunding valve is better because you wont have pressure spikes that cause the carbonation to shoot out of solution causing a bunch of foam
in what proportion is starsan diluted for spraying?
I use the same ratio as normal, which off the top of my head is 1.5mL per L
Did you connect the gas ? If so what pressure did you set it too?
@@Bigladbrewer You can use pretty much any pressure as long as the fermenter and keg start at the same level. I tend to go for 10-15pi since that it is the pressure I apply when I cold crash.
How much Co2 are you using per 5 gal batch to do this?
@@jakestatefarm126 I don't know an exact number, but it would be such a small amount that I don't worry.
