I don't know if they wrote about it. The song speaks of a counterattack by the 13th company of the 226th Zemlyansky Regiment in 1915 when repelling a German gas attack. An episode of the defense of the Osovets fortress on the Eastern Front during the First World War. The surviving soldiers of the regiment went on a suicidal counterattack, because of which the Germans, having a huge numerical superiority, retreated, deciding that the dead themselves had risen against them. This episode went down in history as "Attack of the Dead". There is an excellent short film "Osovets" about this.
Imagine the rage, or balls, it takes to do something like that; Prepare to be gassed by wrapping yourself in cloth, suffer through the chlorine, see almost all of your friends die around you, nearly die yourself and then mount a counter-charge as you're coughing your lungs up. And win the battle (although the fortress would later fall). Now I am no fan of the Russian military but that is something extraordinary.
Imagine seeing a bunch of angry russians, charging at you while coughing up pieces of their lungs and with just bloody rags covering their mouths. No wonder the germans fled... Must have looked like zombies

Glad I found your channel tonight, enjoyed a couple hours of Sabaton reactions. :) You've hit almost all of my favorites already. So I guess I'd just request you eventually do their Shiroyama (has a lyric video or you can do the one that uses clips from The Last Samurai), The Final Solution (ouch), and Soldier of Heavan songs. Oh there's also the meme-worthy Winged Hussars too, there's an official lyrics video or a fan made video using relevant movie clips.
I did my NBC training on TDY in Vilseck, Germany in the fall of 1993. I remember when they showed us the video of the goat being exposed to nerve agent. Not something I want to remember.
