I would never have known about the russian defense of Osowiecz, about the Brown-Stigler incident (no Bullets fly), about the brave russian Night Witches, about americans hereos like Audie Murphy and Alvin York, about the sacrifices in Galipoli (Cliffs of Galipoli) and on the steps to heaven (The Last Stand) if it was not for Sabaton . They tell stories of brave men and women from all parts of the world. Stories that deserves to live on and be heard by everyone. I dont think they are sell-outs for letting me (and many more) know about these brave acts and people just because they happen to be born in Sweden. Also Herr Viking, dont feel bad about pausing and talking during the videos. I find it interesting and if people want to listen to the song without interruptions they can do so on the official videos. Thanks for anoter great reaction.
@mladenkorstic it isn't though? Maybe in your school but here in Germany for example, we learn about the Shoah, how Hitler rose to power, resistance groups like the Weiße Rose or Kreisauer Kreis and Zero Hour. Nothing more concerning WW2. So even we Germans learn a lot about our own history by listening to Sabaton. For example I only learned thanks to Hearts of Iron how my family survived their escape from Berlin in 1945 :)
The face wrapping with wet cloth was maybe working for the psychologically until the gas came pouring in. The russians was bleeding out eyes, ears and mouth. Wheezing, dying soldiers scared the hell out of the germans.
"Do you have any last wish?", asked the pale woman in a black dress. "Just one more charge", thought the dying soldier, "Just one more chance to hold the line" The woman giggled. "I accept your dying wish"
And one by one soldiers rose from their eternal slumber as the German forces watched in horror. In an instant they turned to face their assailants, seemingly kept alive by sheer rage and determination. Again and again each were shot down and again and again they rose and charged into the onslaught. Unyielding. Undying. A German general watched the chaos from afar, confused and dumbfounded. In the distance, he spotted a pale woman in a long black dress standing amongst the living dead, staring right at him. They locked eyes. She began an elegant stride in his direction. He began to scream.
Actually used this for world-building in my group's D&D setting. Gnolls attacked a fortress in a mountain pass by burning a tree with toxic sap, then using shamanic magic to blow the smoke into the fortress. The defenders died horribly - but among their number was a cleric of Maurn, the god of common soldiers, who offered a final prayer that they last long enough to hold them off. His prayer was granted, and the garrison of the fortress rose as revenants, counter-attacking the gnolls and slaying their chieftan. And when their relief arrived, they found the garrison with their own graves already dug, ready to pass on.
Those soldiers who wrapped there face with wet rags caused more damage to their faces as the chlorine gas mixed with the water and formed hydro chloric acid. Awesome reaction
I really like your reactions and without you taking and commenting... It wouldnt be a reaction! Keep up the good work and I will keep an eye out for your next reaction to Sabaton and their history lesson.
Great reaction again. They have a really dark video, but very learnable that you can react on. *The final solution*, really dark, but very good song. keep up the great reations!
Dark is good... The darker the tale the better the lesson. It shows us what humanity is capable of... The final solution..i guess... is a song about the nazis and their "Endlösung" I suppose. That is a valuable story and lesson to be told. I will surely react to it...
I know this vid is a year and a half old, so somebody has likely pointed this out already, but the guy you were talking about who accused the band of "selling out" by not talking about Swedish history anymore knows nothing nothing about the band. Swedish History was a focus on the Carolus Rex Album. Now It's a great album I can't imagine any Sabaton fan having out side thier top 3, but that doesn't change the fact the band had 5 full studio albums out before that, none of which focused on Swedish history. The earliest demos from the band that became the compilation "Fist for Fight" (Many of which were re-recorded alongside new songs for what was meant to be the bands debut album "Metallizer", but problems with thier original record label meant that album didn't actually come out until much later) weren't even focused on history at all, that didn't happen until Primo Victoria where the opening and title track is literally about D-Day. So yeah, that poser who didn't deserve your time has no clue what he's talking about.
Another thing about the chlorine gas, I dont know if you knew this or maybe mentioned it but it mixing with the water in the air and in the lungs and skin and eyes and such caused the gas to rapidly change to hydrochloric acid on contact and melt their skin and some of their lungs and such which is why they were spitting parts of their lungs out and the fact they were still fighting with that happening to them is an insane concept.
Yup, that's why the 'wrapping themselves into cloth' was not a good idea, at all. It's all they had, bandages and rags, some soaked in urine, no real gas masks. You really can't blame them for that desperate bout of courage, it probably felt like they were dying or dead already, so what's a few bullets for a threat?
There is a great cover by a Russian artist called Radio Tapok that is really good that has video exerts from a documentary that shows what the battle might have looked like. The sight of the soldiers rising from the trenches covered is blood soaked rags is frightening. I also recommend Seven Pillars of Wisdom, which is about Lawrence of Arabia; The final solution, Nazi concentration camps; or Shiroyama, the last or the samurai. Good reactions. I've very quickly came to look for new videos from you. Keep up the good work.
Now that is a compliment indeed :). I am glad you like what I do! The songs you mention are on my "to react to" list and will come by eventually. I think you are the first to mention Radio Tapok. I'll check that out!

As a history buff from Germany myself, I could not agree any more with you..learning from history is SO important..Sabaton isn't glorifying anything, they are telling stories about things that happened and shall not be forgotten. They are evn bringing people together.. I,as German, can honor the bravery of the Polish resistance during horrible times,as much as I can enjoy a song about the Red Baron, and Polish people a song about the 7th Panzer Division under Erwin Rommel... because it's part of all our history.. If I might suggest some songs, I might add Heart of Iron, The Last Battle, Cliffs of Gallipoli and Rise of Evil. Keep up the good work,my friend!

the two people you heard were Joakim and tommy but all three of them sing during concerts and they do have a choir for some songs from great war. You should totally listen to their new song that came out today called Livgardet. the english version is not out yet but it comes out i believe early april.
Check out Radio Tapok's cover of this song, this Russian guy released a cover a day before the release of this song. The clip shows excerpts from a short film about these events. Sabaton - The Attack of the Dead Men (Cover на русском | RADIO TAPOK)
They used to have a choir on some shows on "The Great Tour", all singers dressed up in historical uniforms. But the band members can also sing :D Try guitarist Tommy's band "Majestica", he is really talented.
With the gas they would often wait for the wind to blow towards the enemy positions and activate dispensers in their own trenches, causing a wave of gas to wash over the enemy position. If I remember correctly the russians were not equipped with gas masks and only the officers knowledge of chemical weapons saved those who survived. The charging soldiers were coughing up bits of their lungs as they charged and must have been a ghastly sight.
Great reaction as always! The voices in the backround is those of "The Great War Choir" .. they went with them on tour in Europe and you can see them In the music video of "Great War" all dressed in uniforms of the nations involved in WW1. 1 of my favourite songs from their latest album! You should definitely check out the live version from Moscow featuring Radio Tapok! Also another 1 of my favourites from their latest album is "Seven Pillars of Wisdom" so give that one a listen will ya! Love your reactions :)
When it comes to the cloths some were drenched in pools of water or soaked in urine. This was to hopefully cause the cholrine to bind to the moisture outside of the body rather then turn into acid in their lungs

Awesome you get to do Sabaton. Definitely get to know them and the history of the songs. I enjoy learning history. If you like Viking themes, I highly recommend Amon Amarth, Brothers of Metal as well as Manowar. Hail to Odin!
Funny thing. I already know Amon Amarth really well. I haven't seen any video though. So who knows... Brothers of metal and Manowar are coming up. One of them...soon ;)
One of the, considering the rather grim topic, funniest comments I have seen in videos for this video is this: Russian soldiers - Quite literally too angry to die
Greetings from Russia. Thanks for inserting the portrait and explaining who Tsar is. For Russians, this is an important and great personality. And the First World War became the last national war for the Russians. My Cossack ancestors fought on the fronts of the First World War, and later on the fronts of the Civil War, on the side of the Whites. And including one of my ancestors participated in the Attack of the Dead. Thank you very much for your reaction. Best wishes, Russia.
Hey Mr. Viking. If you want more history lessson by Sabaton, they have Sabaton History channel on you tube, where they cover the historical background of story behind particular song (with historician - Indy Neidell) and after that they cover some song stories, like how they created this song, how they get inspired etc.
If you want music that has a viking theme, the band "Kvelertak"(best metal band to come out of Norway in quite some time imo) is an absolute must to react to, their songs are almost exclusively about norse myths. The song "kvelertak" (same name as the band) is literally about vikings going on raids. "Mjød" "Blodtørst" and "Fossegrim" are some tunes by kvelertak you also might wanna check out, if those are to your liking you will most likely find most of their work enjoyable. The band "Ensiferum" also has a heavy viking theme to their music, the songs "Sword chant" and "Battle song" are worthy of checking out and will most likely determine if you like more of their work.
Something you may find interesting, is that most of the Russians that weren’t killed in the defense, went home and lived almost completely normal lives even with the effects of the chlorine gas used on them.
I just found your channel and I really like it so far. You want some viking music? If you haven't heard them yet I can recommend Amon Amarth, Swedish viking music. I'm pretty sure you gonna love them. Keep up the good work.
Sabaton has a history channel that this Norse Pagan Nerd loves watching because it's entertaining and educational. You should watch it. Plus this is my 2nd fav Sabaton song. You should check out The Great Tour Official vid of this song. Joakim has a mic inside a gas mask it's awesome.
Your channel has become one of my favorite reaction channels. I love your reactions and input. Maybe you can react to Sabaton's song Carolus Rex at some point. That song was the "gateway drug" into the metal world for me. It never gets old. Keep up the great work, and thank you for making these videos! :D
Carolus rex was the second contestant for this wednesday so it will happen pretty soon I guess ;). Thanks for the compliment! It is somewhat weird to me to get comments like this as I never really feel it is something special. Somehow I hope i'll never get used to it ;)
@@VikingReacts Your videos definitely help brighten my day and put a smile on my face. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels the same way. I'm looking forward to seeing your channel grow and I wish you the best! :D
Nice reaction dude. You can always do a triple reaction with the official lyric, official live and Sabaton history Channel episode about the song. You should be able to do so with most of their songs. Keep them coming.
I've thought about that but I am not sure how that would work with possible claims by UA-cam and "stealing" other peoples content... I'll give it a go some time ;)
@@VikingReacts no worries, sabaton is pretty chill with copyright. They don't claim anyone because they like that people share their music, learn from the history and stories etc etc. Bandmembers even share reactions they like on their socials. And every so often the official sabaton social media pages share reactions too.
The wet cloth didn't work that well against it but it did catch the blood they're coughing out cuz it makes when the chlorine gas was mixing with air or mixing i don't know something in your lungs it made hydrochloric acid which made them cough up blood and reports say bits of their lungs
Not sure about Swedes, but the Danes did surrender right away (to a single scout on a bike, apparently) and it was the right thing to do. Their terrain does not help. Other countries with more suitable terrain (and an inherent contrarian nature) resisted for as long as they could.
I'm Finnish and always liked Sabaton, have been originally huge NW fan of course, anyway Sabaton are not sellouts, if someone were during war-times it were swedes themselves. Not all but as country they didn't help us against Russians. Now explainer... there were Swedish men in Finland fighting, but they were those who were afraid of Russia coming to them next if not stopped
The issue with the cloth they wrapped their faces with is that they didn't understand that chlorine gas absorbs into moisture, and the Russians soaked the cloth with urine in desperation, which made it worse than if they used dry cloth.
""The signs of acute chlorine gas poisoning are primarily respiratory, and include difficulty breathing and cough; listening to the lungs will generally reveal crackles"" - group of dudes wheezing with canvas wrapped faces staggering towards me... I might have runned the opposite way also - and sh.t fast 😨
Also the grass affected by the gas turned black, leaves on trees turned yellow, there were dead animals everywhere and the green eerie mist + the " zombified " Russian soldiers, yeah i would definitely shit myself and charge, but the opposite direction.
кстате я смотрел этот фильм и вот почему мы не боимся смерти цитирую фразу из фильма перед распылением газа: ну это как в беноколь посмотреть так смотришь врде близко боишься а повернёшь вроде и далеко чего её такую маленькую боятся? by the way, I watched this movie and that's why we are not afraid of death, I quote a phrase from the movie before spraying gas: well, it's like looking at a benokol so you look at it, you're afraid of it, but you turn it like and far away, why are they afraid of it so small?
Russians are part viking, btw, we invated Rurik dynasty to rule somewhere around middle ages and you bet they left a mark in a genetic pool of russians.
This was a fantastic reaction absolutely LOVED it. Can't wait to see what you have next for us.🤘😏🤘 If I may make a suggestion, Can you please react to Sabaton The Future of Warfare - Soundtrack version (the one with Floor in the choire) and The Future of Warfare - live performance🙏🙏🙏
Sell outs for not writing songs about Swedish military history? They made 5 (FUVE) albums of miltitary history that were not about Sweden before they made the "Carolux Rex" album (which is about Swedish military history)....... They have "only" made 3 other albums after that..... Facts...scary things when your arguments are based on emotions ;)

* Old Norse for "asshole". Should you ever need actual viking swear words! :D
There is a live performance of this song, with Radio Tapok (tapak?) ... a russian muscian that did a russian cover of the song, 1 day before sabaton officially released it :) (he got permission from Sabaton to do it, According to basist Pär) ... also check out Radio Tapoks music video, it's cool!
1 of my favourite songs from their latest album! You should definitely check out the live version from Moscow featuring Radio Tapok! Also another 1 of my favourites from their latest album is "Seven Pillars of Wisdom" so give that one a listen will ya! Love your reactions :)
Noted... I'll check it out! Thanks for the compliment!
A little late to the party with this one, but you MUST watch the live version of this song. Let's just say you will admire Joakim's outfit
When it comes to the cloths some were drenched in pools of water or soaked in urine. This was to hopefully cause the cholrine to bind to the moisture outside of the body rather then turn into acid in their lungs
parkway drive - prey (turn that shit up, you will love it)
parkway drive - wild eyes live wacken (amazing live performance and amazing crowd)
falling in reverse - the drug in me reimagined (i think you will totally love and feel it)
falling in reverse - popular monster (sonething diffrent but i amazing)
awesome channel btw, love your empathie for music
cheers from berlin \m/
Look up the faithfully Russian version of this song by Radio Topok. One of the best covers i've seen ever!
Live the song is performed with the aid of some of the band members.
The fortress had been bombarded into rubble by this point it.
This is the most power metal power metal song ever and it's great for working out
On repeat and get ripped on Sabaton. Sounds like a plan to me :)
One of the, considering the rather grim topic, funniest comments I have seen in videos for this video is this:
Russian soldiers - Quite literally too angry to die
Yup. They are singing.
Yeah, I want to check these videos out as well but I do it after editing as I want everything I say and write to be authentically me ;)
I know I'm late to the party but you should absolutely see the radio tapok variant of the video
Check the live performance if you haven't already. Really good.
The song SMOKING SNAKES is now an official song of the Brazilian military.
Really? Thats awesome!
@@alexberthgen1962 You can look up videos and see Brazilian military band performances of the song.
Good reaction. This is one of my favorite sabaton songs from the Great War album
I've listened to it "a few" more times after. I am loving it :P
Something you may find interesting, is that most of the Russians that weren’t killed in the defense, went home and lived almost completely normal lives even with the effects of the chlorine gas used on them.
If im not mistaken the last of the " Dead men " died in 2011
Just imagine the bad ass story that grandfather got to tell his grandchildren :P
@@VikingReacts Ikr, and also thanks to Sabaton telling us their story, without them i would be oblivious
None of them survived...
@@anthrazite but they did though, granted it wasn’t a lot but, there were some.
Joakim has a mic inside a gas mask it's awesome.
the british army used rags that were pissed on to prevent against mustard and chlorine gas
@Vikingreacts, as Kevichkovil says you should have no problem coming from Sabaton 😉
Another great reaction from you.
Your masks gave me the smile of day.😃
Keep up the good work.
Next time do a reaction to Great War.
You need to add some humor right :P. Glad you liked it. I couldn't stop smiling whilst editing that bit :P
If you like the way this video is done, look up the lyric video for Volbeat's "The Devil's Bleeding Crown"
Every single member of the group sings.
The wet cloth didn't work that well against it but it did catch the blood they're coughing out cuz it makes when the chlorine gas was mixing with air or mixing i don't know something in your lungs it made hydrochloric acid which made them cough up blood and reports say bits of their lungs
Those soldiers of the Fort were blessed By the Goddess of vengeance Nemesis
Not sure about Swedes, but the Danes did surrender right away (to a single scout on a bike, apparently) and it was the right thing to do. Their terrain does not help. Other countries with more suitable terrain (and an inherent contrarian nature) resisted for as long as they could.
Live is amazing
It can be ;)
I'm Finnish and always liked Sabaton, have been originally huge NW fan of course, anyway Sabaton are not sellouts, if someone were during war-times it were swedes themselves. Not all but as country they didn't help us against Russians. Now explainer... there were Swedish men in Finland fighting, but they were those who were afraid of Russia coming to them next if not stopped
Which is historically accurate indeed. Just look at East-Germany after the war. A certain wall in Berlin comes to mind...
This intro is gold, for sure i fucking subscribe!
Trying to add some humor. Glad you liked it :)
Thanks for this! Maybe you'd like to check mongolian metal, I have some roots in there:) My recommend is The HU: Wolf Totem. Enjoy!
YES! The Hu is indeed coming up soon. A good friend of mine recommended them as well :)
From Russia with love )))
The issue with the cloth they wrapped their faces with is that they didn't understand that chlorine gas absorbs into moisture, and the Russians soaked the cloth with urine in desperation, which made it worse than if they used dry cloth.
the things i learn here :)
I would like to see you reacting to Hulkoff Varangian (the english version)
And also Reaper´s mark- Reaper.
Noted :)
They wrapped themself in wet and urine drenched cloth and it didn't help at all. The chlorine reacts with moisture, so the wet wraps made it worse.
This is a true
You really should give a listen to Hulkoff. Should start with either Martial or Blood And Iron.
Yes, it's just the band members singing afaik.
Awesome reaction!
You sould do a reaction video on Amon Amarth! Also a great Swedish band!
Tip: Twilight of the Thunder God
Haha, my favorite band and my favorite song ;). I will do the Sabaton cover though!
Especially nowadays :P
@@VikingReacts I don't watch Walking Dead...😆
Well... I meant in light of the COVID thingy going on now ;)
Also the grass affected by the gas turned black, leaves on trees turned yellow, there were dead animals everywhere and the green eerie mist + the " zombified " Russian soldiers, yeah i would definitely shit myself and charge, but the opposite direction.
Wednesday is odin's day in Sweden
Exactly why Wednesday is now Sabaton Wednesday :)
Yes only members signin. 🙂
You know if a channel has 400 likes and 1 dislike on a video it's an amazing channel
Well... you decide ;)
@@VikingReacts you should react to "Night witches Animated video by sabaton" trust me you won't regret it
@@frostyuri5496 Haha, it is on the list ;)
you need to listen to 40:1 live from wacken and Long live the king.
Are you going to react to Sabaton new song "livgardet" on the 26 February?
Teaser

I kinda feel I have to :P
@@VikingReacts React to Shiroyama and Carolous Rex first :)
ATTACK OF THE DEAD MEN
German soldiers: *die*
Russian soldiers: *respawn*
@@nitrosofa0114 yep
Was a mix of chlorine gas and bromine
Osowiec WAS not Poland then, it was the Russian Empire
Can you react to Musik in their Carolus Rex album too on Swedish history. Like Carolean prayers and Carolus Rex?
кстате я смотрел этот фильм и вот почему мы не боимся смерти цитирую фразу из фильма перед распылением газа: ну это как в беноколь посмотреть так смотришь врде близко боишься а повернёшь вроде и далеко чего её такую маленькую боятся? by the way, I watched this movie and that's why we are not afraid of death, I quote a phrase from the movie before spraying gas: well, it's like looking at a benokol so you look at it, you're afraid of it, but you turn it like and far away, why are they afraid of it so small?
Russians are part viking, btw, we invated Rurik dynasty to rule somewhere around middle ages and you bet they left a mark in a genetic pool of russians.
This was a fantastic reaction absolutely LOVED it. Can't wait to see what you have next for us.🤘😏🤘 If I may make a suggestion, Can you please react to Sabaton The Future of Warfare - Soundtrack version (the one with Floor in the choire) and The Future of Warfare - live performance🙏🙏🙏
Yup, it is on the list ;). Glad to see you in the comments again :)
@@VikingReacts Always. I got you 😋
Nice reaction. Great intro.😂
So good
Agreed :P
It is the same:p
Maybe do a lyric video and then a live performance.
Get the best of both.
Yeah, people mentioned it. Might be a good way to do that indeed :)
Посмотри ещё клип на фильм брестская крепость я советую тебе
I will check it out :)
Ok next, the Radio Topak cover in Russian
"Tapok" my bad
You should react to 'the hu wolf totem' they are Mongolian and I think you will enjoy them
Oh and I will ;). It has been on my list since day 2 or 3 of the channel I think
if you havnt seen primo viktoria yet... do it :)
I gave the perfect time to like 😈 (demonic laughter)
You nead to react to more songs from sabaton
Guess what is coming up...today :P
Sell outs for not writing songs about Swedish military history? They made 5 (FUVE) albums of miltitary history that were not about Sweden before they made the "Carolux Rex" album (which is about Swedish military history)....... They have "only" made 3 other albums after that..... Facts...scary things when your arguments are based on emotions ;)
Exactly! But even so... they decide what they want to write about right ;)
Probably late but my suggestion is you need a battleaxe
I have one… on my desk ;)
Could you react to Sabathon Last Dying Breath?
Love your reactions! Maybe i missed it but why do you don't Look the Videos on UA-cam?
Greetings from germany!
I have been interrupted by ads so many times that I got sick of it :p. I watch them afterwards...many times ;). And thanks for the compliment!
@@VikingReacts ah alright 👏 keep on going 👌
you should stick to the live videos. Sabaton is a live band. or at least do double reactions to their songs. official/lyric video first and second the live song. you won´t regret it. promise. and so you get to see the great stories in their MV´s and also the live performance. ;-)
Go on with "night witches" great story, great song, Great live show. like actually every of their songs xD
Yeah, maybe I should. I didn't mind this one though. I loved the editing!
