Very interesting version owing specific kind artistry and beauty. If the god of singers has any name, his name is Nicolai Gedda. I have always known that he is a first-class tenor. But this level surprised me incredibly. He is (was) incredible. I am listening to his recordings for the last few months systematically. Of course, he has some failures and something is not very good - from time to time. On contrary, in selected parts, he has no competition. It is hardly possible to match this level. His careful husbanding of his voice is unusual barely comparable with somebody else. Neverending admiration.
Fantastic Florestan!!! The first recitativo so impressively demonstrates the sonority of a noble heltentenor. Plus such a deep sense and dramatic expression in every intonation, in every phrase! Just a revelation!
Gedda is one of the most inspiring tenors.. Being able to have fluency in more than six languages and singing every role type from bel canto rep to Wanger proves that is one the greatest tenors of all time. He is one of the only tenors where I can literally feel the emotion from the way he uses his voice without having to watch him live or on screen.

Omg...absolutelly fantastic... just a little bit fast the allegro of Und spür' ich nicht linden...but amazing interpretation... who was the Orchestra and the wonderful conductor!!!
Probably more what the composer intended. Its become a helden tenor role, but actually has more in common with Mozart than Wagner. Gedda was a genius and could sing anything, in any language.

He sounds like a dramatic tenor. I know, it is possible with the microphone. But it is still voice magic.
