Hi JR... I too was perplexed on the Left/Right thing... I figured out that on my Black Diamond straps, when using the proper hand, the wider part of the strap rests under your palm pad. When using the "wrong" hand, the more narrow part of the strap rests under your palm pad. So, using the correct L/R orientation gives more strap contact support to your hand.
Since we only had two participate in the 'Um's the Word' sticker giveaway. I have to give it to the one closest and that's @Mad Humanity. E-mail me your information to jrhikes1@gmail.com and I'll get sticker out to you asap. Thanks everyone for the freak comments and support!
You are supposed to enter the hand through the strap by having your hand under the strap, move it up through the loop to hold the handle. Thank you for telling about your experience with different trekking poles 👍
I love my trekking poles too. Use them EVERY time I hike. I , too , had the twisty kind when I started hiking and quickly learned to hate them lol...I now have collapsible poles which I love. Great video for the beginner hiker just getting started.
@@JRHikes nope... since I don't camp I only use them for hiking. But I do like how yours are used as poles for your tent. Very clever and less weight to carry. Smart!
Cascade makes a great pole for the money. But look in the thumbnail...the tip is broken. That's the second pair because of that. I failed to mention that in the video.
I like the video, but ... I have some bad experience with one of the 2 clips breaking. That's less likely to happen with the piston type locks as the mechanism is more protected inside the tube. Also: You demonstrated holding the strap, but I think you're using the strap wrong, but not sure how to explain it in a short sentence, other than that loop goes through the palm of your hand, and therefore a left and right pole are relevant on how the strap goes.
Yeah I realized that once I went back and watched it after publishing. LOL. Also I have had nothing but good luck with the Black Diamond flick locks that's crazy yours broke. Thanks for the view!
@@ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING Carrying the camera does throw things off a little. I use them for my tent as well. Do you use the Peak Design Capture Clip for your camera?

I wanted to get it out of the way. LOL. Thanks for the compliment. I feel I put too much time into the studio and not enough time into making content. LOL. Look at you and your channel! Blowing up! Well done!
What trekking poles are YOU using and why??? OR do YOU use them at all???

Awesome. Thank you for this. Thanks for watching and the support. Hike on my friend!

I'm glad you found some that work best for you! Do you use them for anything other than stability while hiking?

Nice studio! Love it!!!
Thank you! Seems like the safest place to film these days. LOL
Nice video, kept my attention. I probably will go middle of the road since I'm just getting my feet wet on long hikes.

@@JRHikes what are the tips made of?
I believe they are carbide. The housing itself is plastic and that's what breaks

The ones that broke were cheap and not black diamon quality. Maybe that's why they broke or I set the clip too tight.
Great video. Nice setup. Good information. Crow✌️
Right on bro. Do you use poles and is so what type
I have the Tac9er carbon poles. They sent me a set to review. But, I carry the camera, so, I just use them to set up my tent. ✌️

If no one else is going to guess your number of "ums", I will! My guess is 71
It’s hard to count the umms because some of them aren’t a solid umm 🤔
We are going with ums and uhs. Same thing. LOL
JR Hikes ty for the clarification! I’m on it!!!🥾🥾🥾
my guess is 166

FYI, trekking pole videos seem to do awful.... at least on my channel they do. I have the BD alpine cork WR as well.
