Saviing 5 strokes a round since working with this mat. I like to hit firmly into the hole, but side hill and downhill putts take lots of touch, and that's what this mat really brings out even though the mat has no break itself. Also, the way it scores putts forces you to be more precise than simply holing the ball. When you're trying to beat your own highest Chirrp score, the pressure you feel mirrors the pressure of putting for a great score on course. Over time, you gain confidence in your stroke. I no longer get nervous putting, I know I'll hit it on line with good speed. If my read is right, I'll make the putt. Especially helps from 12 feet in. I'm mediocre, a 13 handicap, but made 3 birdie putts today and left a 4th just inches short: it's turned me into an average golfer who putts better than most single digit guys. I buy lots of gizmos, most of which help, but this is far and away the one that's improved my scoring the most.

    It looks very interesting.

I think speed control is key to Spieth's putting success; he always seems to die the ball in the hole, effectively making it larger.

That is how Harvey Pennick believed all putts should be ... falling into the hole on the last turn.

How are you liking the midlock? Still using it? I have a putter fitting booked for July.

As time has passed since your review do you still find yourself using it. Has it transitioned on the course. Still feel the same about the aid?

Hmmm ... you mention speed control ,but these mats are usually ridiculously fast, how would that help to improve it?

Hi! Nate from Chirrp Golf here. Even putting on fast mats helps improve your muscle control and accuracy in our opinion. However, we didn’t want that to be the only option for training your speed control. Our base has tee holders on the back side that allow you to adjust the angle of the base and simulate different stimps. The default, flat stimp of our mat rolls at an 11-12 range which is pretty fast by most standards. By placing tees in the appropriate locations and telling the app what tee placement you have in the settings tab, you can simulate stimp readings from about a 6 all the way through 12 in various increments. Then you can match the stimp to your course’s speed and practice the putts that will work for you. I’ll upload a video in a subsequent comment that shows how it works.

The obvious flaw is the alignment assistance.
    I'd rather have a 6ft circle.

Hi! Nate from Chirrp Golf here. I’d like to understand your comment and consider if it’s something we could do in a later revision or as an alternative option. Are you talking about having putting arcs at each location to help guide the open/close of the putter stroke as you come through? I’m not 100% sure what you’re looking to see. Thanks!

@@chirrpgolf Hi Nate. Any design where there is no alignment assistance and round is an option. There is none when we play.

@@555Trout Practicing like the course is valuable, but almost every teacher and player truly working on their game uses guides to help train the proper alignment and behavior. If you can hit your putts on-line and with the speed you intended, you will at the very least know whether you read the putt correctly or not. Practing a correct alignment, a square setup, and perfect speed control will make most golfers better - much better. Our mat is not for everyone, but compared to other products on the market, we're light years ahead at giving you feedback that can make your putting better. Our games help you practice setting up at different distances and keeping the putter face square to the target. We'll ensure you putt the ball straight and with the correct speed. In our opinion, that's very valuable training. Once you've practiced with our alignment guides and have gained insight from our tracking and stats, you can take it to the course and use the feel you've built into muscle memory to have a repeatable stroke and correct alignment on the course. Thanks for taking a look!

@@chirrpgolf Appreciate your lesson. I've been playing 50 years , was a club pro for 35 years , and have given over 100,000 lessons to thousands of individuals, so it was very enlightening.
If you can't aim you can't putt.
Putting with alignment aids even a majority of the time is a trainwreck protocol. Occasionally test your ability to align and do remedial work when necessary but otherwise never "practice " with alignment aids. Putting is a routine , a process, and alignment is the fundamental skill. It must be practiced the most of everything and the total process must be integrated into every putt. Otherwise you are "practicing" something other than playing golf.
So, we disagree. And I'm right. You know how I know that? I've watched millions of putts with thousands of students in over a 100,000 lessons. That's how I know.

I thought the perfect make speed is 18 inches past? This seems like its teaching people to die the ball in the hole.

    • @chirrpgolf
      @chirrpgolf 3 роки тому +2

Hi! Nate from Chirrp Golf here. Yes, and no… We’re trying to teach speed control. When your carpet has a hole, you can hit it in with a wide range of speeds. Practicing that way doesn’t help you putt 18” past the hole (which is a very specific speed/distance). We aim to show you that you can control the speed within in a very small range. Then you can translate your putt to an appropriate stroke. 18” past on a 4’ putt is a 5’6” putt. So, you’ll be taking roughly your 6’ stroke. Our base also has a small incline which does train you to be putting slightly longer than the distance you’re at. However, the main way you use it is to really fine tune your motor skill and speed control. Then, when you get to the course, you take a few putts on level ground with your 4’ stroke, your 6’ stroke, and your 8’ stroke to see how they roll. Then you know your “calibration” for the courses’ speed and can putt the exact distance you want on every hole - whether you die it in the hole or putt 18” through the hole.

The Matt is grap. The stimp/speed is completely off. It’s like putting on a glass plate. I like the game feature but for the rest it’s grab
