One of the things I like most about Cass is that the engineers there seem to have this very distinct way of quilling the whistle. The way they do it just screams "logging railroad".
Oh thank you so much for this video. I love the Shay the most, but also like the Climax and Heisler too! I pray that none of them ever get scrapped. Some day I would like to ride on them. So beautiful in every way.
That bell is unusually BEAUTIFUL for a Climax!!! LOL!!! Normally Climax bells sound HORRIBLE!!!! Like a hammer hitting a frying pan to be exact!!! LOL!!!! But the bell on the 9 sounds VERY nice!!! :)
Not to be rude, but Mower is pronounced: M oe wer, the o in it is pronounced the way you say the name of the letter O, as a West Virginian, I’d know, Love the video nonetheless
I'm not actually sure if the plan is to use it on the regular trains or mostly in special service. I assume it will end up on the regular trains at some point.
I got the see Southern 4501 and 630 today (Friday) they were NOT in operation they were running but not pulling anything they were getting steamed up for tomorrow. October,Friday,15, 2021.
Does anyone know if they have a rotation for when they operate their different locomotives? I’d like to eventually see their Heisler, at least one Shay, and their Climax run. I’ll should get the Heisler in the upcoming weeks, but does anyone know when the number 9 tends to run?
Cool. But One thing I have to ask some important! If you know anyone who works for the Amtrak Surfliners can you see if they can use the P42DC locomotives on surf liner again before the time ends I like it on Sunday 10/18/2021

It's a very characteristic sound. Thanks for watching!

They've also got the best acoustics anywhere on the planet. It's a gift that they do. The whistles echo off the mountain perfectly
with a load whistle like the hooter echoing through the mountain side is just breath taking and awesome!
The blast of the whistle. So beautiful
Geared locomotives are my favorites!
Mine too
4:52. Love seeing the gears and pistons, just so satisfying
The Climax is my favorite locomotive. Love the sound and the look!
Fantastic video, great locomotives, from Shay and Climax. Very nice drive through the autumnal West Virginia. I love these old steam veterans.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!

That double-header was amazing!
It’s a bit strange to see a Climax on a railroad so iconically known for their Shays, but a welcome surprise nonetheless 😁
Indeed! Thanks for watching!

Hopefully they’ll be finishing up on restoring the line between Cass and Durbin soon, so that trains run down that line.

Beware of the old story song of the wreck of the number 9 by Hank snow and Jim Reeves
Mike, watch out for your second favourite shay!
Would the climax locomotive #9 operate in passenger service any time soon
I'm not actually sure if the plan is to use it on the regular trains or mostly in special service. I assume it will end up on the regular trains at some point.
Fun Fact: Shay Locomotive number 11 was in a flood before

Wow fantastic and exceptional content as always Mike!! Love the 3 chime on #9!! Any idea what it is?
Sounds like a Lunkenheimer 3-chime or a PRR 3-chime to me.
Are you planning going back to septa?
At some point!
Cass scenic railroad has been in Cory Pennsylvania
What? Cass is in West Virginia
Go, Steam Locomotives, Go!
i wanna go back
can i go back
I’ve seen a shev and a climax now I want to see a heislar
Hello mike
Actual for your information the paper mill caught fire and burnt down

There is another active climax locomotive on the white mountain central railroad in Lincoln, nh
Also you don't see many tree truck Climax.
Have I been in your videos before
