I think a good idea for a series would be asking your couch surfers a hobby of theirs and going somewhere you can do that in amsterdam. If they're a climber go to a climbing gym, salsa lessons, etc.; then you'd be able to show different sides of the city while expanding your own horizons. Thanks for the videos!
Kind of touristy, but maybe rent a private small canal boat for a couple of hours and make some stops along the way. That isn't free, but a really fun way to see the city and the many bridges. I just did that a week ago. Fantastic photo opportunities.
Hi, Tycho. Jay from Los Angeles, California (USA). 21 degrees C (71 F). I have two cats as well (Jake & Abby) and I have a fountain for them. They love it and drink a lot from it. Definitely a great investment. Especially for Jake. He drinks a lot of water. Thanks for the Amsterdam tour. I'll be there for a day in September and I appreciate all the tips you've given in your videos. I might even make your Bingo card and see if I can win. HAHA
Always interesting commentary of life in amsterdam, one of my favourite cities to visit. And always interesting how the city tries to maintain its culture and liveability - moving the Red Light area, keeping the commercial office towers outside of the historic core, the cycling and trams, actions to keep some housing affordable for low income locals … etc. Good lessons for other cities On my weekend bike ride along the river here in Perth, Western Australia, I go past a statue of Willem De Vlamingh, an early explorer / VOC a guy (and sometimes a resident of Jordaan area of Amsterdam), one of the first outsiders to sail into the Swan River / what is now Perth. The statue shows him being chased by a (black) swan…. Even today, be careful with swans! is Houtmankade named after Frederick Houtman? Another early explorer (not sure if he was VOC) who charted the west coast of Australia. A chain of low islands off the coast of Geraldton (4 hrs drive north of Perth…”not far” to Aussies) is named Houtman-Abrolhos There were other landings / shipwrecks by early Dutch / VOC along our coast, and small coastal villages within 45 mins north of Perth are named after them - Leeman, Guilderton (supposedly after the shipwreck Vergulde Draak) …..
Watching in cold Uk 🇬🇧 as I used to do the ISE this month and IBC exhibitions there love the Dutch. I must admit the tourists are the real danger they don’t seem to have a concept about spatial awareness There must be crashes what happens then ? Oh and it’s so cold with your winds
Very hot and humid in Amsterdam today. Got to 32C/91F I believe. This has been my longest visit to Amsterdam, and I am already sad to leave at the end of the week.
You know you have to stop when pedestrians cross at a zebra crossing. Ignoring red lights is also not a good example. Don't complain about tourists behaving incorrectly when you are behaving even worse. Sorry to say so.
Ok, those pedestrians didn't pay proper attention before crossing. That said, you were approaching a zebra crossing at speed with no apparent eye for any pedestrians nearby. You also jump red lights, ignore road signs, in short, you cycle like an experienced Dutch cyclist: ignore the rules when you can get away with it, don't pay too much attention to other road users, risk a collision rather than slowing down just a little, and always act in a selfish manner. I know. I'm one, too. We know what we're doing. Tourists don't.
Je Rijdt heel erg agressief. Het is een kwestie van tijd wanneer je een keer heel hard onderuit gaat . Hoop alleen niet dat je dan ook andere mensen verwond.
