Responding to your Aldi remarks: In Germany it was originally the extra-cheap chain we have here in NL. Then the founder died and one of his sons wanted to keep it as it is, the other one wanted to make it nicer. ...so they ended up splitting it into 2 chains. Some countries (like NL and half of Germany) has the really cheap one, other countries (like Hungary and the other half of Germany) have the nicer one.

As an Amsterdammer I am always happy when tourists can't find the real gems of our beautiful city. What is worse is that they are tempted to visit what I call tourist traps. One advantage we have as a resident of our city is that it is wonderfully quiet in those places that make our city worth visiting. The real gems. And the .....Prinseneiland and the Gouden Reaal we keep secret, right....? Or?
