I may be 19 years of age but nothing and I mean NOTHING can beat a classic car or motorcycle. Back when things were soulful and built with passion. To me, that's when a proper automobile is created. I will forever love old things.
Uh-oh, I think I'm getting old. I'm really starting to warm to these classic, chunky, timeless BMWs after years of being obsessed with the latest Japanese sportsbikes!
I got the bike I lusted after when I was a Teenager. A 1970 BMW R75/5! It was better than I expected; every time I got near it, I felt it was something special. You just know this bike was built to last, and be restored over and over.
My dad has a /5. Ported/polished, crankcase castings flatted and detailed, 12v electrics, infra-red electronic ignition, 3 days balancing the carbs so it idled like a metronome, original Borrani rims, unknown SS silencers and all period accessories including the optional kick start . Nut&bolt restored in an absolute custom, mixed-up-in-a-tin old english white. In a near identical story, It means so much to him I feel it cannot be comprehended. However it was vandalised whilst in storage some 20ishyrs ago ( '94). Low lifes broke in, trashed the place, and in the process of throwing stuff about for sh1ts n giggles, knocked 2 gallon of liquid roofing bitumen on to it. And because of me coming along (I was 2/3YO at the time) It has stayed in that condition ever since, only seeing the light of day to be moved from one place of storage to another. I swear on anything that's holy that when I get some good dependable money coming in, It WILL get fixed again.
Mine's a comparatively new one, a 1986 R65 20kw learner model, my first and I love it. It is such a pleasure to drive and listen to. It's completely unmodified and my dad describes it as a Gentleman's Bike. It's no loud or obnoxious in any way, yet witty and interesting and a lot of fun to ride.
MyFabian94 yes I definitely understand! I have an 82 r65ls and that’s exactly how I would describe it. Tasteful. Although I could definitely get used to riding the bike in the video! Maybe I will look at changing it up a bit 🧐
I see nothing ugly about that bike. It exudes passion for the machine, the fundamentals of the riding experience with a touch of your own individual taste. Beautiful.
Very cool. The hallmark of a nice custom is you can't tell that it has been customised. This guy doesn't just replace the handlebars and the fenders, he creates something that is truly unique. I mean my uncle has 2 restored R75s and they look teutonic to say the least, but these... italian styling, man...beautiful bikes.
Nothing better then the classic r65 i really like the bmw r65 vtr custome plus where is he the place he is riding is perfect weather and all grass tress anyways
I remember once, I saw a young man, probably early 20s, at a gas station. He was riding an old BMW, and he was wearing what looked like period appropriate clothes; knee pants, knee high boots, goggles and an older style leather helmet. That was so cool to me.
I almost teared up a bit. To see a man so passionate in his craft, and the beautiful, genuine quality of the motorbikes he makes was quite emotional...
Beautiful video. Italian passion and German engineering. While predominantly a car channel, your motorcycles short films are simply spectacular - every single one. Loving beautiful designed and engineered cars is passionate enough. But there's another higher dimension of emotion for someone that throws a leg over a two wheeled machine. A film featuring a Vincent Black Shadow, Ducati 916, or Indian Chief would be amazing.
I truly believe for the last 50 years or so the USA has had the best custom built bikes in the World and I dont mean by big companies. Im more of a Indian and Harley guy but I still love watching vids of these.
Every single time I get breathless and keep on watching your videos over and over again... Truly mindblowing shots, story, music... May this channel live forever. Those 17 "thumbs down" must be driving prius;)
God i love this Channel thank you! and yes i love those awesome ITALIAN videos they give a specialty to this Channel that you can almost taste:P Love everything about Italy their food, clothes, cars and their passion about everything and ohhh let's not forget their sweet sweet language! and one more reason to LOVE BMW:)
David MuscleGuy " Love everything about Italy their food, clothes, cars and their passion about everything and ohhh let's not forget their sweet sweet language! and one more reason to LOVE BMW:) " This statement implies that BMW is Italian.
Well my father have a BMW R25/3 but he doesn't ride it anymore so now I use it on weekends. The bike itself is very well made and very reliable now I want a rR75 but it's hard to find one if I could find one it would be very expensive. Nice film btw.
Nicely shot video but don't you think that just putting globs of weld on a flat plate, grinding next to a part built engine, trying to drill a part that's wobbling about in the vice, using pliers as a hammer.... kinda kill the image...'craftsman' ?!
It's great what this guy does. I'm a fan. But it looked like his welding practice or whatever that was was just globs of metal on a block. It looked like it was just a fake shot of nothing. Petrolicious, these are wonderful videos with a wonderful emotion, but putting stuff of questionable authenticity in really messes up the whole thing for me personally. But hey the content is free. Thanks for filming it!
***** Great video and all, but when he was welding, atleast try to make it look like he is actually doing something not just laying weldson flat surface :P
A BMW BIKE...IS A BIKE FOR THE WELL DREESED MAN ….THE CYLINDERS STICKING OUT SIDEWAYS ALWAS DISTURBED ME...BUT I TRUST GERMAN ENGINEERING AND THE NO TIMING MARKS ON THOSE EARLY CAMS
while the bike is beautiful, I really can't understand people who make things that look the same as everyone else's and then claim they love unique things. dude, if I can't pick you bike out of a line up of random BMWs it's not unique, stop claiming you like uniqueness when you actually just want to blend in.
I may be 19 years of age but nothing and I mean NOTHING can beat a classic car or motorcycle. Back when things were soulful and built with passion. To me, that's when a proper automobile is created. I will forever love old things.
Dude looks like a comic book character from the '50s on his bike. Awesome!
"I take old parts and I pamper them"
This gentleman has the best philosophy for restorations

Ha! Been there, sold a ZZR1400 and bought an R80 about 3 years ago. I ride it every day and I have never regretted it, not once!

Same. My R75/5 with the fat tank is very special... keeps getting better after every ride!!

Another great window into the life of a man passionate about vehicles.
More motorcycles please!
Wonderful as usual! And his customer feelings are exactly the same to me, when i look at my old, slow but unstoppable motorcycle.
Every single time I get breathless and keep on watching your videos over and over again... Truly mindblowing shots, story, music... May this channel live forever. Those 17 "thumbs down" must be driving prius;)
The music in this video is marvelous... Oh, and the bikes are nice too.
Maybe I'm biased as I own an R80 but what a wonderful video - more of this kind of thing!!
What a beautiful BMW-bike. Wonderful work !

Because when Italians and Germans get together, nothing bad ever happens! Oh, wait...

Sorry, but as an R65 owner & rider, I see little improvement of actual value here.
I know what you're all thinking... that 'stache though.
