    At the first chain change, I simply counted and noted the number of chain links. Since then I always count the appropriate number of chain links on the new chain and shorten the chain accordingly.

    Really good presentation on E-MTB chain replacement, clear, relevant and well presented. You've given just the information that we need to know without all of the other options which bog things down. Perfect - many thanks

    Thanks a lot. Couldn’t figure out why my lower 3 cogs were skipping. I needed to make the chain longer, and get the derailer sitting back, putting the tension it needs on those smaller gears. Now I can ride my bike again. I need the cruising gears cause My knee I broke years ago like a ton of resistance, and moving slowly. For some reason that works for me.

    Thank you. Clear, well explained and demonstrated . Would you recommend adding some lube on the new chain or use it for a few rides with the initial packing wax/grease then clean and lube?

    Nice one, I had seen a recommendation somewhere suggesting chasing emtb 12spd chain at 0.5 ?

    Wouldn't it be easier to put the old and new chain side by side to find out the correct lenght ? Even if the old one is worn out a lot, you would simply shorten the new by one chain link.

    • @ns671fr
      @ns671fr 3 роки тому

      Yes but it wouldn't help you to size a chain from scratch if you didn't have one on or if the old one was cut wrong to begin with

    I've always changed my chain at 1% mark. I do wonder if it worth paying the extra for a "special" ebike chain or just going with a standard chain!

    My chain is skipping in the small cog under heavy wattage.....only the smallest cog. Shall I change the rear cassette or could I get away with only changing the chain?

    • @genniz
      @genniz 5 років тому +1

      Get a new chain first and try it. If it Is still skipping change the cassette asap! Like he said in the video buy a chain checker and you will avoid this issiue :)

    I thought it was measured off the lowest rear gear,and you had to compress the rear suspension due to the travel of it,obviously not according to this vid

    I thought the chain was supposed to be replaced at .5 wear?

  • @th_js
    @th_js 5 років тому +1

    In my opinion the chain should ALWAYS be replaced before .5% wear.
