Today I am testing out the new Minelab Xterra Pro metal detector. I was metal detecting in a field here in Pennsylvania. I discover an awesome piece of colonial history from the father of our nation. I am giving this new machine a huge thumbs up!!

I have the pro, and it works well on sand, soil, and wet; this machine is fully waterproof and great value for money. A bit jumpy with numbers, but the tones are worth learning. It's also light and can be swung all day. The best thing about it is the price, if you have a tight budget, this is a machine well worth considering. Coils can be swapped from the Equinox series, although I haven't done so myself.

Thanks. Yeah I usually take a Break once it gets hot. I will hunt in the rivers and creeks, but not my favorite thing.

Seems to be a decent backup detector, especially for the price point! Great for the newbies to get them started and hooked and to want a upgrade down the road.

I know people are referring to it as a entry level machine but back in the day my first decent machine was a Whites 5900 and I paid 500 bucks for it.. heavy and it didn't have even close to the settings the Xterra has nor the depth.. and beach hunting? Forget it ..

Somebody please recommend a decent detector $600 or less. Relic and beach . I've been out of it for so long i don't know a thing about new tech.

I too have an X-Terra Pro and I find twice as many coins now that I have lowered the sensitivity. Use to run as much as possible 23 -25 max, but now run around 17 and dig up twice the amount of coins... especially nickels! Have you tried hitting a trashy area but at lower sensitivity? I picked up "50 coins" yesterday by doing this at our local trashy park in areas I've searched already. Tot lot scored 15 deep coins even at 17 sensitivity, VDI much improved too 😅
