There is a difference between worship and ritual. You can worship a god without any ritual, and you can perform a ritual with no god involved. Worship is the expression of reverence to an entity be it deity, collective, or individual while ritual is the bodily enactment of a transcendent reality. Ritual is useful in worship since it can place you in the same context as a god to commune with them or offer your worship. It can also place you in the context of something that you intend to influence rather than worship, but now we’re talking sorcery or thaumaturgy rather than worship. In the old days, a shaman would use ritual to transport the whole village into the context of “the first day,” or some similar sacred time, to bring healing and wholeness to the village and its people.
Ritual is definitely something I would like to improve at. I think latent Christianity has been holding me back from it. I grow up in Catholicism, where everything is heavily structured ritual. Having broken free from that, I'm just not sure how to get myself into new rituals. Should I try to be ease myself into it, or jump in head first? I don't have a group to practice with right now, so any advice would be welcome.

Could you do a video on the concept of patron gods? I've seen the word "fulltrui" before and it seems interesting to have a patron god, but I don't know how legitimate this concept is, or, if it is legitimate, its history. I'm curious and was wondering if you knew about the subject.
In modern times the word fulltrúi is simply Icelandic for an agent, representative, or delegate, but there are allegedly some rare instances of it in the sagas. I couldn't find any examples personally tho, so a video on it could be interesting.
I was leery of watching this at first (for the thread of entirely using puns); ; but I'm glad I did, for the emphasis of uncertainty of "correctness", and the rejection of any one true way.
I mostly just talk to them. That's it. If someone else is leading a ritual/ceremony, I follow that, obviously. But just by myself, I talk to them like I would anyone else.
As a new pagan I have been sitting on my porch, closing my eyes in prayer, following your example on prayer where I address the gods/goddesses I feel I connected with tell them who I am usually addressing myself as wanderer as I don’t think I know enough or practice enough to consider myself pagan fully tell them my reason for communicating, present my offering which so far has only been the first drinks of my beer then usually end by simply saying thank you. I was wondering if you had any tips to improve my practice outside of making an altar since I’m working on one already
I know the amero-pagans don't like what I write but in Scandinavia (The origin of our religion and the last bastion of it) the focus of our blot is not asking things from the powers but rather to connect and communicate with them. The practise is quite different to this.
So, totally off subject, I was wanting to know if you could make a video on the Christian prophecies that are being fulfilled vs how Norse Paganism prophecies are being fulfilled? I was raised Christian but strayed away from the religion and became a Heathen. But somewhat still feel guilty about leaving Christianity... I 100% believe in the Norse God's. But also feel that Yahweh is real. What if the Christian's are right? What if Yahweh is the true god that will prevail? I have an open mind about things. But I would love to hear your opinion on this matter. Im struggling immensely Keltoi. Please help me and others who might feel the same way as I do. I felt like I should bring this up too you since you are a very wise man. Please, for everyone else, do not give me hate for simply asking about this...
Here is a few points. 1.) Christians preach a disdain on Judas betrayal of Jesus, this is what got me paddle in Sunday school. Judas was a tax collector and Jesus was the tax for human sin. A tax collector's job is to collect and turn over the .. tax. Simple fact and logic, the rest a is a allegory morality story. 2.) Southern Baptist preach from what ever Bible verse that the dead lay in the grave till Christ second coming, they do not watch over you from heaven. And your grand parents do not visit you or watch over you, those are demons trying to lead you astray from G*D and into hell. People claiming pass lives and have skills & memories that the could or should not have are under the influence of demons. The church is built on the threat of eternal hell fire, so why all other non Abrahamic religions believe in reincarnation ? Ever notice when you disagree with Christian, it nearly always end with," Will I guest you just want to end up in hell then." 3.) And for those people who believe that Jesus talks to them, then why did Jesus tell them that the school/ church guidance councilor or priest was molesting their child for the pass four years. 4.) As for spreading the word of god across the world. Both the christian and muslin rhetoric about spreading of the faith. Africa has been telling Islam no for the pass thousand years. And European colonization barely lasted a hundred years which more or less stopped at WW II. Then factor in the return of old European spiritualism is in return. As one wise man said, there is much about your Jesus I like, as for your christianity there is much to be desired.
@@krispalermo8133 that totally did not answer my question... I asked about prophecies and how they're being fulfilled. Not a background story on the religion.
@@wikkidklown5650 Sorry, .. I do not place much stock on prophecies and I have a hard bias on christianity. As a few so called experts pointed out, when the bible was .. officially .. put together it would not be too hard to write a coded story with a not so secret prophecies into it. Then have a following book within the canon showing how such given prophecy came to pass. The bible in my view and many others is a coded allegory morality stories and western Europe churches beat it into the minds of its people as being .. literal truth. Down another path of the rabbit hole, there are records from the Roman Imperial Senate where senators were complaining about snake cults from Persia infiltrating into the noble families of the empire. The J*ws normally get blamed for their antics, and some of them were known to be involved with the council of Nicea. Sorry for another background story on religion. Sorry but when the records show they had poets & playwrights involved putting together the official bible and they took close to around thirty years doing so. Something sneaky is going on. As such from what the other conspiracy theory claim and I agree, those secret societies wrote those prophecies and they are the ones' trying to fulfil them. Please watch a few videos on YT regarding Gnostic Coptic Christians, and rewatch them again over the next few months and rework your own ideals about them. I have only been studying this stuff for around thirty five years of my life. Today it is easy to find stuff on the internet. Imagine the 1990's trying to find the books on such things. Hope you had a good weekend, and G*D bless.
If this is still an issue: it might be worth looking into prophecies and predictions in general. So many christian and non christian prophecies have been "fulfilled" often because prophecies are vague and you can interpret a shit ton of things as fulfilling them. Si christians saying "x thing happened, as the bible foretold!" Is likely entirely unconnected from anything divine. Also if they base themselves on old testament sources, might be worth looking into both biblical scholarship and Jewish interpretations to see what the text originally said. There's often context and meanings in translation completely ignored by many protestants.
I have a video titled "blood in ritual" that explains we should be clean when doing ritual but a little bit of sweat won't offend thor. He is the strong every man's deity. He approves of your gym time.
Before I did any power ritual, or part of the ritual, I grew up in mix martial arts and my age group of friends & family were doing Ki Energy for close to four years before we even heard of Wicca. We chalk a circle and did push ups, jumping jacks, run in place, wrestling, anything to build up a sweat to get our heart rate and bioelectric fields up and charged, then push that energy into a stone, art drawing, or item. Did the same thing in my early 20's bar hopping at places that held amateur boxing to pick up women. 1.) Set up a circle, shadow box for around 20 minutes, draw up the alpha male calling the female for fun scent pheromones. Push the energy into a stone on chain. Careful I had women pad me down just to find my magic stone, most of them didn't even know .. why. Other women just walked up to me and asked if I wanted to practice some .. magic. 2.) Do some drinking and boxing, my group of buddies would first donate some blood then go out partying to represent shedding of blood in combat and the celebration party that comes after wards. In between rounds we hold our stones in hand, bump fists and push the energy into the center of the table. We were real sneaky in circling a table inside a couple of bars to draw energy from the places. 3.) Party at one or another houses, country side field to drop/ dump the collective energy into one spot to charge a given item. Or pair up with some woman for a few hours of fun. A couple of women I was with, we just play wrestle/message for and hour then joint make a paper mache mask or card board duck tape item ritual mask or artwork. I know, it is sad a couple of art nerds making a cosplay outfit instead of making better use of the time. But it fun making women's clothing. With practice six people can draw at the same time on same staff or strip of cloth to make a ritual item. Magic prayer rugs are just great, but you need at lest five to six people working on it the same time.

You can find him participating in a *group offering* in the video link (ua-cam.com/video/xki_HEkiaOU/v-deo.html). Also, keep asking the right questions because you are asking some great questions. Love to see it.
I'm building my first altar. Have you heard of anyone dedicating their altar to Norse gods and Celtic gods? I'm not sure why this appeals to me. But it does.
This is right. Make your own I throw shots out to my friends. Don't smoke but keep one going for them. Poor my favorite beer that's hard to get in the fire for them. Cream is now included for Freya she will protect our crops. Burn my favorite wood black locust burns all night. Kept me warm many nights. We have no power over the gods. They understand what we are doing. I also believe your passed friends protect you. Animals do as well I'm a woodsman and they have saved me or warned me if I didn't heed the warning all goes wrong. 3 ravens sitting together get out of there don't take the warning everything goes wrong.
I'm still exploring my personal ritual choices. I feel an importance in distinction between rituals to different gods. I'm not sure why. It's just a gut feeling.
Odin is a cool god. But actually, I think Odin was based on a real individual. Concussions were not discovered until the 70’s and 80’s. It’s my belief the Vikings/ after living through many battles, and fights developed them with a fierce regularity. Concussions were only discovered After many football players would self harm, or harm their families, after having psychotic breaks. Odin ripped out his own eye for an extra sensory perception/ Mead of inspiration. In modern medicine, there is a specific name for the action of ripping ones own eyes out. The term is self enucleation. And is common with individuals with bi polar disorder/ psychosis/ Schizophrenia, and or is delusional. However, i certainly believe there is a connection between different mental states and the paranormal.
I would think that a gift given is personal to you. Perhaps something homemade or a very unique thing like a scent or a treat that you enjoy. I tend to think of gifts as sharing something that has meaning to me. I put the thought and effort into the gift with my mind, body and heart. I love to bake, so my gifts/offerings are usually something sweet.😁 So I guess my answer is - Effort and Intent.
well i think a witual would work nicely with loki. also i myself always felt the rituals for whatever gods you seek help from should fit them, like freya you sacrifice a very nice looking homemade thing or for loki you give him a story how youtrickedsomeone or messed with someone without being horrible
As far as ritual goes I actually had a bit of a disagreement with someone in a Norse/Celtic pagan group on Facebook. I am not neither a vegetarian or a vegan and nor is it something that I see myself as being likely going through with and I feel that many of my rituals are in some way are always going to include either meat and or alcohol but basically for the sake of gaining people's perspective I actually asked the question along the lines whether or not if hypothetically someone was vegan or vegetarian as well as a Norse pagan and they did not want to use animal products whether or not it would be fine? I kind of said how I thought that I didn't think that it would necessarily be too much of a problem for such people and then at some point someone said how the word blot which is used in Neo Norse paganism for ritual offering literally meant blood and thus offerings that did not include animal products and we're vegetarian and vegan wouldn't have been acceptable and at some other point in the conversation the man actually called me a some very disrespectful and derogatory terms and I said to myself that maybe perhaps people like that need to spend less time worrying about how to perform ritual correctly and more time trying to work on there hostile abrasive and unpleasant aditudes and that ultimately I think that spiritual rituals and how they are performed is a private matter between the humans who perform them and the gods and that they are really nobody else's concern or business.I don't mean to sound like I'm going on a long rant but I feel that people with this type of mentality and unpleasant additude is in some way is what kind of ruins the whole idea of me wanting to join Norse pagan groups as well as spiritual groups but with that being said I still can't help feeling drawn to that stuff.
Do you have any videos of why I feel connected to paganism? Best way to be able to explain myself of why I feel connected? I’m not sure how to explain it to others of why I am, I just feel connected.
And with the rays of the horn Skald did we proclaim with the voices of our own yet the language twas the same. Whilst honor abiding incoming does our sire and fair lady come a riding, with comfort a striding and nursery a rhyming.Meanwhile the pasture presents future nutrition, sew ♥️ thy folk four together we are one.....
Alcohol is not a necessary part of ritual. Libations CAN be alcohol, but it is not required. I myself don’t drink either, so I tend to go for other liquids, like water, some kind of juice, or something similar.
Now that I've seen enough of your videos for the algorithm to be activated it's getting tricky. There's Christian apocalyptic edgy content popping up (ugh!) and Heathen content popping up. But, which are the sane ones? Which are the creepy, cringy ones to be avoided? There's a growing list on Reddit which I'm sticking to for the time being. Thanks for the guidance!
I dont know how to put this, or whether i even should as it will no doubt be taken as an insult, especially as i lack tact But from what i see, American Heathens seem to treat this all as if its a rennaisance faire, or an episode of Charmed or something, and im sure its not limited to america But what an ostentacious and overly poetic rigamoraroll This isnt christainity Just find a space, close your eyes, and speak to the spirits, make a gift, either through burning, burying or water sure, but all the pomp and ceremony is best left in a catholic church And please, stop bothering the gods unless you have already tried the local land spirits and failed to get a response, leave the gods in peace or you may find they take peace away from you Ive only recently found your channel, and you seem well versed in many things, and i am learning things from you, things that my previous 35 years as a pagan did not teachf, but i start to wonder if these things are necessary, or just made up stuff to make you americna heathens feel as if your rituals and spirituality is real Im not trying to tell you its wrong, not at all, any way that anyone connects with their spirits and gods is right for them, of course, but it all seems and sounds so amateur dramatic (like a school play) I dont know if its because its reconstructionist that it reminds me a lot more of Wicca, crossed with Freemasonry. Of course from a technical point its all reconstructionist because no one remebers how it was done 1500 years ago, and besides we couldnt even trust an oral tradition from then anyway What you presented above reminds me of 16th and 17th centrury people who began making stuff up because they were used to doing similar things as christians, and so felt they should be doing similar (but of course different, because pagan not christian) things because it was expected of them I really dont mean to offend, though i suspect its too late for that Im really not saying anyone's way is wrong, and certainly not saying mine is right It just feels like youve all added so much fluff and poetry and extraneous aspects, its almost like youre all trying too hard to be a "religion" and forgetting its a spirituality Its just Over The Top On a seperate note, i find it odd that after reading about and watching vids about paganry since what, 1995 (best guess), i wonder why YT has waited until now to make you known to me, and not just you, but all the people you intereact with on those Beard co-op streams you do, hel, even the guy you seem to hate (wisdom of odin), i had never heard of a single one fo you until like a month ago I feel this is very odd Much love to you all, i genuinely hope i havent offended anyone too deeply, i exalt in our differences and think we are a greater species because of them, so please do not feel judgement where none was intended, just because i have called it odd or pointed peculiarities out, doesnt mean i think any less of those who practice those ways
As a historian, who lectured in Stockholm university, and has specialization in material culture of Scandinavian Iron Age, I must say that all this reconstruction movement is funny thing to oversee. As much as I would have liked Norse religions to survive intact they didn't. End of story. Much of what religious reconstruction practices nowadays is just religious larp. On the other hand, it is good to see that people take effort to invent something new and embark on spiritual journey. Nevertheless we have to stay realistic that most of the stuff you folks preach are either based on imagination or pure illiteracy. Hence my plead here is that read history books, read them a lot. Please, be selective about "classical" literature on the matter from the end of 19th and beginning of the 20th century as often times they are biased by national romanticism etc. What comes to the topic of the video, I have to say that often times heathens didn't pray. Often times they didn't care about gods at all. Much more valued thing to heathen, -- particularly Norse, -- was an abstract which we understand as personal "luck". They deemed luck more valuable than favor of god, whatsoever. Even gods ran out of luck. Heathens didn't pray although they might have done something, which either made their "luck" grow. PS. No, I'm not hating on the paganism movement. Actually, why I started to study history, was my personal awe in paganism. Alas, I had to realistically admit things to myself.
I simply cannot be angry at the worst pun ever. In fact, I’m impressed.

In the old days, a shaman would use ritual to transport the whole village into the context of “the first day,” or some similar sacred time, to bring healing and wholeness to the village and its people.
A very informative vid!! Thanks for sharing 👍!!!!
👍🧙♂️🐺!!!!
I sat with pen and paper trying to take notes 📝 great video
Ritual is definitely something I would like to improve at. I think latent Christianity has been holding me back from it. I grow up in Catholicism, where everything is heavily structured ritual. Having broken free from that, I'm just not sure how to get myself into new rituals. Should I try to be ease myself into it, or jump in head first? I don't have a group to practice with right now, so any advice would be welcome.
Something tells me Loki would love a pun based ritual.
hinn forni siðr” = the ancient custom
Always a pleasure to see with others who cultivate the old faith 😊
Thank you very much for that.
I have the same view as you regarding inviting the gods to join 😊 at the same time as I thank the vætterne=Danish (which I can only translate from Danish to English by describing - nature's creatures 😊👍) do you hope you understand?
I thank the weasels and nature by pouring Mjød (Mead)on the ground as well as fruits and vegetables. 😊
I like your channel 😊👍
Thanks for that
Greetings from here
thank you ^&^ this is an interesting part of learning that i have questioned for quite a while
Love your stuff kick on love it
Thank you for clarifying this, I have been confused on how to offer sacrifice and hold ritual.
Honestly I just come for the puns
4 people sadly did not
Invite or Invoke sounds more respectful than Summon but each to their own
Exactly! I also have problem with "releasing" or "dismissing". I prefer to say simply "thank you and farewell".

I'd like to see a wit-ual performed. Supposedly to Bragi
I'm a simple man. I hear a terrible pun I like. The rest of the content warrants that like as well.
I have reached a point where my life asleep and awake are a ritual continuous. Indivisible. It is work. Ship. Solitary.
I was leery of watching this at first (for the thread of entirely using puns); ; but I'm glad I did, for the emphasis of uncertainty of "correctness", and the rejection of any one true way.
The puns are a nightmare, I agree. I wish I would stop doing it.
@@OceanKeltoi Please never stop, I myself quite enjoy them. It kinda breaks the ice before getting into the more serious matters.
What are your thoughts on the celebration dates?
Ever notice when you disagree with Christian, it nearly always end with," Will I guest you just want to end up in hell then."
3.) And for those people who believe that Jesus talks to them, then why did Jesus tell them that the school/ church guidance councilor or priest was molesting their child for the pass four years.
Also, I take it it wouldn't be preferable if I did a ritual after I got home from the gym without showering would it?
I have a video titled "blood in ritual" that explains we should be clean when doing ritual but a little bit of sweat won't offend thor. He is the strong every man's deity. He approves of your gym time.
@@WolfTheRed Hell yeah, thanks Wolf!

May I ask what offerings you give and how? For example giving an offering of alcohol etc.
Thank you for the question, I am not exactly ocean keltoi but I know him and I have seen him participate in offerings.
What do i do with the offering? Hiw do i properly dispose of it?
In what lenguage should I pray? im' italian but I also know english and russian. Or should I just learn old norse?
Ocean, never cease your dad jokes.
Im curious about something called loken, can you give some insight?

Airth sent me. Hello.
I'm still exploring my personal ritual choices. I feel an importance in distinction between rituals to different gods. I'm not sure why. It's just a gut feeling.
I've researched then now I'm a lone practitioner and have developed a tradition and rituals of my own do you think that's okay Ocean
I’m interested to hear from fellow pagans on this: why are “gifts to the gods” significant when... everything belongs to the gods. ? Thoughts?
Odin does speaks of mutual gift giving between friends.
I would think that a gift given is personal to you. Perhaps something homemade or a very unique thing like a scent or a treat that you enjoy.
I tend to think of gifts as sharing something that has meaning to me. I put the thought and effort into the gift with my mind, body and heart.
I love to bake, so my gifts/offerings are usually something sweet.😁
So I guess my answer is - Effort and Intent.
@@catlinsamara Thank you sweetie❣️ And I really hope the Gods and Goddesses like variations of oatmeal cookies....I've been on a binge lately!!!😁

I'm curious, if Odin was really a Chieftan among people, why deify him? Isn't it no different than people deifying Christ?
Many nowadays practices with funerals are still heathen, like having a dinner after burried.
Interesting
Do you have any videos of why I feel connected to paganism? Best way to be able to explain myself of why I feel connected? I’m not sure how to explain it to others of why I am, I just feel connected.
I heard on one on your videos you have a church in Atlanta, what is it called?

Looking for info I don't drink l, there seems to be a lot of alcohol in ritual.
Alcohol is not a necessary part of ritual. Libations CAN be alcohol, but it is not required. I myself don’t drink either, so I tend to go for other liquids, like water, some kind of juice, or something similar.
😊
Now that I've seen enough of your videos for the algorithm to be activated it's getting tricky. There's Christian apocalyptic edgy content popping up (ugh!) and Heathen content popping up. But, which are the sane ones? Which are the creepy, cringy ones to be avoided? There's a growing list on Reddit which I'm sticking to for the time being.

Sir do you believe in modern science
I dont know how to put this, or whether i even should as it will no doubt be taken as an insult, especially as i lack tact
But from what i see, American Heathens seem to treat this all as if its a rennaisance faire, or an episode of Charmed or something, and im sure its not limited to america
But what an ostentacious and overly poetic rigamoraroll
This isnt christainity
Just find a space, close your eyes, and speak to the spirits, make a gift, either through burning, burying or water sure, but all the pomp and ceremony is best left in a catholic church
And please, stop bothering the gods unless you have already tried the local land spirits and failed to get a response, leave the gods in peace or you may find they take peace away from you
Ive only recently found your channel, and you seem well versed in many things, and i am learning things from you, things that my previous 35 years as a pagan did not teachf, but i start to wonder if these things are necessary, or just made up stuff to make you americna heathens feel as if your rituals and spirituality is real
Im not trying to tell you its wrong, not at all, any way that anyone connects with their spirits and gods is right for them, of course, but it all seems and sounds so amateur dramatic (like a school play)
I dont know if its because its reconstructionist that it reminds me a lot more of Wicca, crossed with Freemasonry.
Of course from a technical point its all reconstructionist because no one remebers how it was done 1500 years ago, and besides we couldnt even trust an oral tradition from then
anyway
What you presented above reminds me of 16th and 17th centrury people who began making stuff up because they were used to doing similar things as christians, and so felt they should be doing similar (but of course different, because pagan not christian) things because it was expected of them
I really dont mean to offend, though i suspect its too late for that
Im really not saying anyone's way is wrong, and certainly not saying mine is right
It just feels like youve all added so much fluff and poetry and extraneous aspects, its almost like youre all trying too hard to be a "religion" and forgetting its a spirituality
Its just Over The Top
On a seperate note, i find it odd that after reading about and watching vids about paganry since what, 1995 (best guess), i wonder why YT has waited until now to make you known to me, and not just you, but all the people you intereact with on those Beard co-op streams you do, hel, even the guy you seem to hate (wisdom of odin), i had never heard of a single one fo you until like a month ago
I feel this is very odd
Much love to you all, i genuinely hope i havent offended anyone too deeply, i exalt in our differences and think we are a greater species because of them, so please do not feel judgement where none was intended, just because i have called it odd or pointed peculiarities out, doesnt mean i think any less of those who practice those ways
Oh look. Another eropean atheist "historian" getting things wrong about my religion.
It used to be cute. Now it's just boring.
