Japan needed something, it’s slowly becoming stale and a dying line. The devs aren’t wanting to add another tech tree to Japan, so they just kinda grab some nearby countries and take something.
Japan has little to no connection with other neighbouring countries when it comes to military issues. They however have good military production ties with Thailand. Gaijin keeps it real.
Then India should not be added into Britain, only a handful e.g. are british units but majority are French or Russian.
And if its about history then "REEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"
Its a game so its better to add in tree that have historical ties and deserve some help cus their trees are lacking.
I am a proponent of Japan getting South Korea and anything other nations like Indonesia or something since its an Asian region country.@@AmaterasuOjo

"Party Loyalists", because they're nothing if not persistent, also made me worry about the future of ROC branches in Chinese tech trees. For example, while mixing PLA and ROCA tanks in a "light/medium-weight" branch is understandable at higher ranks because IRL the ROCA tank after CM11 would be M1A2T (a M1A2 SEPv3 with export armour), I have a long-standing worry that ROCAF branch would outright be transitioned into "PLAAF Medium" (meaning J-10 instead of F-CK-1, Mirage 2000Ei, or fully-represented F-16A).
Thai VT-4 in Japanese tech tree would be rather amusing though, if only for rhetorical reason lol
Chinese players have been rather angry in general if you check the forums, saying shit like Gaijin is racist and disrespectful against China cause a lot of vehicles aren't added yet or the current ones have something wrong/missing with them
Some of them have even posted themselves having spent a few hundred if not thousands of € on the game but saying they'll stop spending if Gaijin doesn't fix everything for them
I say remove Taiwanese vehicles and watch everything burn to the ground 😅

PRC has no reserve-tier vehicles (although it can still have SU-76M and captured Chi-Ha at Rank I) and no Rank I aviation except captured O2U Corsair (which, because it's a single aircraft, would probably have been premium) although I suppose it can be set up like Israel instead.
I’m kind of a Chinese main and im Kind of happy that Thailand is going to Japan, china has already got 2 F5s so there is no need for others and it means that gaijin will prioritize getting North Korean and Taiwanese stuff, or gaijin will do none of that and completely forget about us
All I ask in terms of aviation is for Gaijin to keep PLAAF stuff in their own branch(es). ROCAF has the multirole fighters to staff Rank VIII, and I don't want them displaced by or replaced with J-10 variants.

The idea of Thailand getting added as a sub tree to Japan was passed to the devs via the forums back in August. This isn’t new news.

Or hot take: Rename the Japan tree to something more generalized and add Taiwanese, SK, Thai and more subtrees to the tree. I feel like we could get many unique vehicles and lineups that way.
Why put Taiwan in the Japanese TT when they are Chinese and the small fact they are already in the Chinese TT, that’s like having USSR and Modern Russia being split

@@GBR9794 There was never a peace treaty ending the civil war. Both sides just decided that the cost of fighting out wasn't worth it. This was largely because of US intervention for the KMT authoritarian regime (which still viewed itself as China at the time of the intervention) preventing a PRC invasion of the island.

To be honest I think if Chinese vehicle come to the Japanese tech tree is quite fun. I am a Chinese Canadian that born in China. And Japanese main in war thunder. I think that Chinese player in war thunder or any game in general are usually quite aggressive and easily being offended. 😅 I understand their are some historical context between the both Nation in the past. But because potical shit that affect the game is next level. Is such a toxic community I would say.

Worst part is that they go on about what happend in ww2 and try to give the reason that that is why this cannot be added. Even though we have polish vehicles in germany, Taiwanese vehicles in china and indian vehicles in britian.

China has the F-5E, JH-7A, and MLU for ground pounding, Japan is currently the only nation without guided bombs and they only have one plane with ATGM's (F-16AJ) if you don't count the Ki-48. Japan is in need of 9.0+ ground pounders more than any other nation.
Sadly, that reflects on Japan's capability that heavily focuses on defense.
If Gaijin can squeeze in a downgraded F-2 (without AESA radars), it will boost up its strike capability.

The majority Chinese mains don't care, realistically a Thai subtree brings nothing new or interesting to our TT other than maybe the Oplat-M. I'm happy to see Japan mains getting some much needed love.
keep coping, china. Japan is dying at top tier and barely has options to add so why not expand their network? China can have Pakistan, North Korea, and a lot of domestic designs that have not been added yet (China is not even at the point where prototypes should be added to fill in the tree).

Yeah, I love playing Japan but every update every other nation gets some kind of new shiny while Japan gets nothing most of the time. And it’s extremely annoying to try and discuss any subtree because of some real world BS like “ so many years ago x didn’t like Japan so it would be stupid to add x to the Japanese tech tree” it’s very tiring. It’s a dull tech tree that could use some help and it’s a game at the end of the day
sorry but i disagree with that, since you still have the option to play sim battles, historical battles and world war. realistic physics and vehicles are ingame. historical skins and more. the Double standard of all that, you can bomb vietnam and other maps where people back then died in real. ofcorse its a game but we playing it as it was real, so it just doesnt fit well with the arguments. its just my right and my opinion to post what i thought is right.

Why do some people think adding Thailand rather than South Korea to Japan is a good idea? South Korea has more vehicles to offer, more unique and indigenous South Korean designed vehicles to offer, unlike Thailand which as far as I've seen has nothing indigenous or unique at all to offer but copy-pastes from other countries. South Korea also seems like a much better fit than Thailand, which really has nothing to do with Japan.

They might still add it in the future, but South Korean vehicles are literally just American vehicles.

@@commandervocal3848 you could easily not add copy paste anymore, Taiwan doesn’t need the M1, they have like 2 of them and China has enough tanks at top tier, they need lights.
In terms of every other nation, you could add interesting modifications to those nations, and keep west vs East as much as possible when it comes to what you add, you don’t need to add full sub trees, adding the unique vehicles like they did with South Africa is a better choice.
@@hiphip4808 well you will have a few issues even if you do stop adding copy paste vehicles, for starters you have countries like Ukraine that have maybe 4-5 (sort of) unique vehicles, while the rest is copy paste from Russia. Another issue is getting certain vehicles to certain tech trees with the idea of making them more fun for players, Italy and Hungary for example, the biggest need for Italy is a more capable option of MBT, they have all the light tanks they could ever want, adding Hungary fixes it, but only by adding the 2A7V that Hungary has. Italy could now also fix that issue without Hungary, but only because they purchased Leopard 2A8s.
@@commandervocal3848 I understand if a tech tree needs the help, like Italy and Japan, I just think that you should refrain from giving every nation the same vehicles, and for nations that don’t make their own tanks, just use unique modifications, the T84 is a good example, or you could take something like the M60AMBT, or the Leopard 2A4M, those could be stand alone vehicles added to respective trees like the US and Germany, I do know the AMBT is an event vehicle, it was just an example. There is precedent for this, TAM, SK105, and ITO 90 and so on. No need to add a whole line of copy paste vehicles.
I still don’t get why they didn’t do this for the f16 when they added the AJ. Thailand has a bunch of different f16s. They also have spitfires and gripens. It would be great for Japan.
Honestly CN players should just be separated from EN/US players because of laws, and restrictions in China. I know (or assume) you don't understand this TEC but China has strict laws on countries and their allegiance.
A similar situation once occurred in the World of Warcraft community. At that time, the Chinese were unable to play the latest version for some reasons, so they logged into WOW in Taiwan through VPN. We called them "Locusts"

i played very well with people from turkey(im from greece) one next to each other.. even i try to help them the moment they where attacked by multiple enemy.. even with my plane i try to harass the enemy from get in them.. even i saw the turkish flag.. on their tanks. even i try to say hello to them.. .not to harm them.. cause is a freaking game. I’m a little surprised that they didn’t use the ROKAF F-5.
Personally, I would be okay with China being taken out of the game altogether. With that said, China is basically a copy paste of a lot of Russian vehicles. Not all of them, but the vast majority are. Truth be told, they will never do that and something I am wondering is why Gaijin have not tapped into the Middle East Nations. Granted Israel is a start, but I do wonder what it would look like if they introduced Iran or Iraq. And yes, I know, a lot of their vehicles are also Russian hand me downs. See what I did there China, take that lol.
While I agree about the whole „it‘s a game not politics“ in a broad sense I do feel there are boundaries. This ain‘t such an example, bit if they were to add ukrainian vehicles to russia‘s tree that would, to me personally, indeed cross a line of taste. Cause that straight up spits in the faces of people fighting a war for their nations survival and would be propaganda and a very much political statement in it self.
So to say that there is nothing that shouldn‘t be done for political reasons is what I‘d have to disagree with. Simply because it is a live war and doing such a thing would be as I mentioned a statement to begin with from a team largely composed of citizens of one party, with the statement even being in the favot of said parties line.
I would however completely agree that other than such extreme cases political fews should not matter in the game at all.

Not really relevant to the video but I just saw that the F-20, Type90B “Fuji”, Merkerva Mk3 Raam Segol Strv-121B and the Centauro 120 RGO (hopefully said the correct version of the vehicles) are already available on the Xbox, which was surprising considering that the update isn’t here yet.
Japan has the dryest ground and air techtree. 2 viable aircraft and 3 of the same 11.0 mbts and 2 of the same 11.7 mbts(cough cough France and America and Britain)

Uh... it has nothing to do with political stuff in the modern world. It has everything to do with the fact that Siam/Thailand was allied with Japan during WWII/2nd Sino-Japanese War. You know, "Rape of Nanjing" Japan. "Unit 731" Japan. Small genocidal stuff like that. And grouping Thailand with Japan has huge "getting the boys back together" vibes regarding that time period. If they wanted to give Japan the F-5, AMERICAN F-5s would have been a lot less controversial and make a fuck ton more sense.
This is yet another reason why they never should have merged the servers.
This is the same argument I've read here in the comments about Poland getting added to Italy. Not because Poland is somehow connected to Italy politically or historically (obviously there are some ties, but that's not the point of the game, it's a game about tanks and planes, not politics). I would like to see PL in IT because Italy needs it. Simple as. They already have Hungary, and by extent germany and korea - which are two nations that produce stuff for Poland. Makes as much sense as putting Polish stuff to any other tech tree, however, Italy is in dire need of some actual good MBTs, unlike other nations.
If they are to add more subtrees, I wish they'd add vehicles without the countries markings, or at least make it a new camo. It's a bit weird to have Japan as my main nation, but have other flags on my vehicles idk

As long as they do not add Chinese Exported vehicles to the Japanese tree...
They will if those countries used them more than likely, just like when the M1A2 SEP V3 comes it’ll go to America and Taiwan, same as the Strv 122s got added and even things like the J-11 (export SU-27 from Russia with exported Air to Air missiles)

That would be a very top-heavy Tech tree, kinda like Israel. You'd have to make the choice of filling out low tier with copy & paste, or just starting at rank 3/4.
The Thailand + Japan combo works well because the Japanese were involved in many low tier vehicles (especially ships and planes to my understanding), and Thailand brings many unique/new options for Japan at top tier.
Thailand was also allied with Japan in WW2, so there's not much resentment between the two nations. It's the best option for a Japanese sub-tree.
Because no one cares about damn patriotism in a silly online game… shut up. I would want to have a good experience in the Japanese tree. No one wants to be controlled by damn policies and Chinese propaganda. And what else are planning to add to the Japanese tree then ?

I’m a Japan main and I actually would love to see more asian vehicles come to the Japanese tree since Japan have very little in term of domestic development. This poses a problem when I want to play with friends as some BR either don’t exist or contains only 1 or 2 vehicles.
@8:09 the problem with your statement here, is that the game is inherently political. Unless you radically change the design of the game so that there are no nations trees or you change the game such that nation trees are filled ONLY by indigenously produced vehicles, you will have politics.
It's the nature of the beast with war thunder, if you don't want politics there should be a unified ground tree, air tree, and naval tree.
You can't deny nations vehicles if you don't ever get into politics. Everyone would just get everything and the flags tied to each tree would lose their meaning

Why are you using the Aim-9B's on the F-8E? You have the radar missiles.
Radar missiles are only as good as the radar they are slaved to. In Germany 11.0 and usa 11s I only use ir because radar is trash. Idk how many times I was locked on the enemy and my radar missile just decided to kill my teammate. It happens with ir too sure, but not nearly as much. That's IF my radar can even lock and maintain lock

AIM-9Bs are fire-and-forget. AIM-9Cs are not. It's always good to have options.

Interesting as well is there is another tank in Thia service not in game. They brought from Ukraine some 49 T84 tanks. More where contracted for them. This was hard for Ukraine as Russia annexed Crimea in 2014 and factories making parts for the tank where taken over buy Russia. Thats how the Thias ended up with the Chinese VT4, as they purchased these to make up the bulk of thier tank fleet.

it would make a little more sense to have an F-5 from south korea rather than thailand, given the connection to china that thailand has then have a thai subtree in china, south korean subtree in japan

The issue here is Thailand has absolutely zero military ties or even strategic ties with Japan other than as a trading partner.
Thailand's major arms suppliers are the US and China. So then giving the F-5 to Japan and not the US is ridiculous.
As I’m thai I’m happy be the Thailand add to be the sub nations in Japan because we have good history relationship with and in the play style Japan have suck in CAS Thailand sub tec tree can fix it
They were Allies in WW2, so they actually do have strong military ties. They may not be as close currently, but they're one of the few SE Asian countries which doesn't harbor resentment towards Japan.
The vehicles they can add also fit the needs of the Japanese TT very well.
