I lived in Laughlin, NV from January 2000- February 2002. I first worked at the Colorado Belle, then Don Laughlin's Riverside Resort (as it was formerly known) and then The Ramada Inn Express. I also worked at the Burger King inside the Aquarius (Flamingo) hotel. Being a transplant from SC I was surprised at the open container laws (you could sit in the movie theater and drink a beer or cocktail). There's a bowling alley in the Riverside along with the aforementioned classic car displays. There's a few early 1900 Harley-Davidson and Indian motorcycles on display and the carriage used by John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara in the movie "The Quiet Man." Working at the Riverside was much like working for the Mob, or at least you were given that feeling. Don Laughlin was the "Don" he seemed to have aspirations of turning Laughlin into another Vegas, but that never materialized. He built an airport across the border in Bullhead City, AZ and had it named after himself. It has a long runway and thus qualifies as an international airport and regularly receives flights from Edmonton, Alberta Canada. You asked about the cigarettes available by the carton inside the casino. This is so visitors from Canada can purchase them tax free since Nevada has no State Tax, but the duty tax at the Edmonton airport more than makes up for it. In 2000 a $20 carton of Virginia Slims Lights cost $25 duty tax (I sent a friend in Canada a carton of these). The Riverside wasn't maintained very well and the employees were poorly paid. AS I said before it felt like working for a wannabe crime family. The siblings often fought one another for power, they each had their own room that the regular staff would maintain (as if they were a paying guest) and were very spoiled. Don liked to give helicopter rides. He would often fly very close to the tower, 20-30 feet away while accelerating up at a 45 degree angle. The Aquarius (I knew it at The Flamingo) is the best kept hotel in the region. I never stayed there but sometimes my friends would pool their money and rent a room for the weekend for a taste of that good life. I think The Pioneer was my favorite. It just had a more relaxed atmosphere, a very 1970's mellow vibe about the place. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the condos across the water had finally been finished. They had sat abandoned while I lived there, just a hollow shell and only one building stood. Laughlin is inside of Clark County (the same as Las Vegas) and if you're arrested for anything , they take you to Vegas, 100 miles away. Or at least that's how it was in 2000. The roads are very well maintained because the Casinos and Bordellos are heavily tax (sin tax I believe it's called) and that's what pays for the roads in lieu of a state income or sales tax (which Nevada doesn't have). There's very little to do for a resident. Once you've been to all the casinos, seen all the sights it's quite boring. A note to potential visitors. Don't wear short or short sleeved shirts unless you want a first degree windburn on your skin. Canvas pants (blue jeans are really hot) and button down linen shirt. Don't wear cotton if you're going to be outside for more than an hour (unless you're jet skiing) as cotton actually holds water and is not conducive to keeping you cool as the water is held against your skin and doesn't evaporate. Linen shirts breath naturally, are much lighter and wicks moisture from your skin. A Columbia Omnishield moisture wicking long sleeved shirt would be even better. Thick soled shoes (no sandals) because the sidewalk absorbs a lot of heat. The can literally fry an egg on the sidewalk in the summer. Keep the windows of your car open slightly as the temperature inside the car will cause a buildup in pressure and the windows can actually explode if the vehicle is entirely closed up. Obviously don't leave pets in your vehicle. The heat can kill a pet within 5 minutes.
I checked and the Riverside Resort seems as open for business as it ever was. The reason for my interest is that is where I've almost always stayed - although I have not visited in probably six years or more.
I live in Edmonton and can confirm we're still flying in and out of there. Took my first trip to Laughlin this winter, care of the Ceasars Air / Sun Country free flight & hotel combo. Hard to say no to somewhere warm when it's -30 at home. The prices in the casinos were shelll shocking though. Place will never rebound if they insist on gouging people.
That road you were walking down at Harrahs is a service road for that The building down at the bottom. it contains pumps that used to suck water from the river for the coal-fired power plant. The power plant was imploded and taken down in 2011.
I live just across the river from Laughlin in Bullhead City. You do a great job with these videos. For some strange reason I find it very enjoyable watching a video of a place that I know well, and then hearing someone else's thoughts and opinions of it. I have to agree that the Aquarius Casino is about the best place to stay in Laughlin. The rooms are clean and neat, and if you're a regular the rooms are usually comped. They're very good with comps, including shows and food as well. (Covid-19 has closed the shows and buffets at present). Dotty's at the Laughlin River Lodge is another of my favorite casinos. Incidentally, the water taxis were free for many years when each casino owned they're own boats. I sure miss that. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to your next posting.
Great vlog, my wife and I have been going 2 to 3 times a year for the last 4 years. I had a customer/friend give me a great suggestion to stay in Laughlin and drive to the Grand Canyon in the mornin and I ended up proposing at the Grand Canyon. We love the laid back atmosphere of Laughlin
You should check out The Avi resort and Casino in Laughlin. Its not actually on the strip and like 20 minutes away but still technically Laughlin. Its a beautiful Indian casino on the Colorado River near the very corner of Nevada, Arizona and California.
Hey Terra! I actually am going to be back down there and plan to do Avi along with a few other updates in another video. I’ve driven by Avi a bunch of times coming from Fort Mohave but haven’t gone inside. Looking forward to it!
Thanks very much for a nice trip down memory lane. I first went to Laughlin with my parents in the late seventies as a young adult. I returned many, many times over the next 35 years, usually with my husband and kids, but my parents always came along. We almost always stayed at the Flamingo because they comped us, but we managed to visit every casino, through all their changes. For years the Flamingo gave out stuffed flamingos when you hit a jackpot. They stood about 5 feet tall, and were costumed for every holiday and season. Until two years ago I had a flock of about 30 giant stuffed birds. They were a pain to store, but every now and then one would pop up at the dinner table, lol. We visited Vegas more often than Laughlin, because I hated the big black bugs that invaded the hotel (my mom called them water bugs, but yuck!) and by the river the rats were the size of large dogs. Your videos are a pleasure to watch, you are doing a fantastic job of documenting history! Thanks again!
When the Ramada Express was open it was really cool with the steam locomotive going around the property and the fun atmosphere inside the casino the railroad theme throughout they had these huge oval shaped bars with Progressive poker machines all connected together and when someone would hit a jackpot the full size R&R crossing sign would light up flashing red bells and whistles going off so fun! and they had G scale model trains running around over the tops of the bars it felt magical stayed and played there often lots of happy memories hitting royal flush hand pays on quarter 5 coins max bet video poker and Keno machines. They had a nice coffee shop that you ate in rooms like railroad cars. Always had on Oldies music. Thank you for the great tour it brought back lots of happy memories.
I've been going to Laughlin since 1983 when there was very little there. The casinos were in Laughlin and the hotels were in Bullhead City AZ. You took the boats back and forth.
The access road next to the Harrahs is for what used to be the water intake for The So Cal Edison Mojave generating coal plant cooling. I've been coming to laughlin since 1980, when I was born. I used to take river route between gold river to harrahs when I was a kid. It used to be a pretty gnarly trail. Great vid.
Miles to Memories I used to go annually to Laughlin With my in-laws for a family reunion, and at first they would stay at the Riverside. We finally wisened up, and upgraded the Aquarius. The rooms were super nice, modern looking. The one thing the Riverside has over pretty much anything else was activities for kids - big arcade, kids zone, bowling which gave it an edge for us. But the hotel rooms are in serious need up updating there
I am from Canada and have been to Laughlin twice. I am sure glad I went to see the casinos especially the Belle. I won a little jackpot the first time I was there. It is a beautiful place. I was there in March both times.
_I remember staying at Harrahs when it first opened in '88. Then when the new tower of the property was opened in '92. (It was appropriately called Harrahs Del Rio). Use to travel down Boulder Highway from Vegas to Laughlin, then back. The Colorado river really makes Laughlin a nice place to visit. Great video._
That nicer wood area is the 'high limit' area, just like Riverside and that's why the decor/look is nicer. Trivia fact- if you didn't now, Just north of Tropicana side entrance across hotel registraton entrance and driveway is an "In and Out" burger. Popular to many folks...
Thank you Shawn, I really enjoyed watching this, it has brought back many good memories of when we were there over the years. We always stayed at Harrah's and it was always nice and comfortable. Aquarius is much nicer than all the others and it shows. Again, Thank You.
If you’re a Caesars Rewards Diamond member, you normally take your free rooms at Harrah’s, or new: The Tropicana (not affiliated with Tropicana Las Vegas by the way) . Aquarius has the nicest rooms in Laughlin, that’s for sure but don’t expect “Caesars Palace” luxury at any of the Laughlin properties. Thanks for the vlog and shoutout to all Phoenix. AZ casino lovers!
I was at the Colorado Belle 12 years ago. The rooms were not the greatest. I still had fun! And back in the 80s I stayed at Ramada Express. It had a train that ran around it, but was annoying when trying to sleep. I just like hanging around the river also. I want to go again soon!
Great video, brings back lots of memories, love Vegas and visiting the surrounding area, you should do Boulder City and the Hoover Dam, including the walk up to the new bridge and view of the dam from the bridge , amazing, keep up the good work 👍
When would to Laughlin we stayed at.the Edge Water and the Tropcaian. And stayed at another but they change the name. We haven't been to Laughlin since 2017only because I got I'll and I couldn't drive for a while. I miss going but now with everything happening we hope that it gets better in the world. Thank you for your videos
I love Laughlin! Thanks so much for filming this! We always stayed at either the Edgewater or Harrah's because they were comped. Aquarius is my favorite casino because I won so much there and like you said it's the nicest. Have a great day!
I enjoyed the tour; you gave a good synopsis of what to expect at Laughlin. Harrahs sends me free offers for a charter and rooms. You've confirmed what I expected: there's not much else to do there but gamble. The beach and pools look good, but it is so darned hot! Thanks again!
Really enjoyed your video of Laughlin you did a great job! I've been going there for over 20 years Laughlin is so much fun and relaxing at the same time. I really do miss the Ramada Express with the train that was so nostalgic. Thanks again for sharing your video!
Laughlin is a cool little getaway. I agree that Aquarius is the prettiest, and it does have the nicest rooms that I've stayed in there. However, my favorite casino is Riverside, just because it is larger, and I can find more games that I like there.
Hi Shawn I just caught this video today. My favorite about this video was the art wall such talented people! Love all the videos from you and Mark have a great weekend. Now that I'm settled here it's time to branch out and check out other new places. I have been to Laughlin, Oatman and Havasu. The water taxi seems pretty fun.
Some interesting history of Harrahs is that in 2002 there was a fight/riot between members of the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club and the Mongols Motorcycle Club resulting in the deaths of 3 people, 2 hells angels and 1 mongol, and is known as the River Run Riot
My partner and I truly enjoyed both Part 1 & 2. We did visit Laughlin in 2018 by a Tour Bus that we got at the Golden Nugget in Vegas. But we only had six hours stay. After watching your videos, makes us want to return. A lot we missed out in seeing. Many thanks. Stay Safe!
Great video. I just made my first trip to Laughlin on an offer from Harrahs casino last week for my Bday. It was an awesome trip and Harrahs really did it right, by a charger flight, and preassigned rooms, and handled all luggage etc. We ate at the Range and Guys, and the food at both places was delicious! We took the water taxi many times up and down the river to Bubba Gumps shrimp etc. And even tho one of our hottest days the temp was 120, we stuck our feet in the river on the Harrahs beach and the temp was 59. Our Laughlin trip was Quite a nice surprise!! We will definitely go back some day. Thanks for sharing the beautiful sights!
I remember staying at Harrah’s as a kid when it was brand new. It was called ‘Harrahs Del Rio’ from what I remember. I remember the Colorado Belle too!
Everything about your videos is just perfect. You provide great tours. Love the music you provide in the background and you have a pleasing voice. You also talk the right amount while other people ramble too much. 👍🏼
What a really well done video. It was so helpful because I'm not sure whether to go their or now with the mask situation. I kept thinking about u walking around, I think it was 119 degrees.
Fun, fun, fun !!! We ❤️ Laughlin ! Day activities: Jetski / BBQ on the Colorado River / Mojave Lake. Evening activities: Casino / 🍺 We usually stay @ The Aquarius or Tropicana.
Nice video 👍 the best Casino for me was the Riverside so many great Memories . My mom and dad lived in Bullhead city for their retirement . Riverside had so many fun things to do gaming, movie theater, shows, moonlight bowling , great food , car collection, their own boat rides, child play center and child care, it was all around fun and they treat everyone like family ah the wonderful memories 💕.
Just got back from Laughlin this weekend.. was disappointed with my first time staying at Harrah's hotel.. my first time there was at the aquarius hotel.. location & hotel was great..
Tropicana when it was Ramada Express was my favorite, I always left with money stayed in the rooms for $4.00 they had a knockout to die for Restaurant which my wife and I were comped, a lounge with live music and Dancing right next to the machines and bar, just fun fun, sadly we haven't returned in years.
I agree with you on the Aquarius Hotel. It is by far the best hotel in Laughlin. I stayed there several years ago and had an awesome room with a incredible view of the river. I enjoyed both parts of this video.
I think this may be your second video I’ve watched . I find you not only informative but you have a nice delivery style and an easy on the ear voice. Thank you. I’m about to hit the subscribe button 😊. Thought I’d add my own fairly new experience . . I’ve only been to Laughlin twice much the first time that we came back. My first visit was last October ,so it was pre virus and I got the full and memorable experience of their wonderful buffet. The next visit just weeks ago naturally we had to do without the much looked forward to buffet because naturally it’s closed at this time . But their large , homestyle cafe is open. As was the riverboat sunset dinner cruise with live entertainment . It was a very nice experience . Our Aquarius rooms were great . They are extremely, super clean and I found customer service to be excellent . Thank you again for your hard work
thanks, I'm glad I found this, you did a fantastic video...I'm debating whether to do Harrahs Laughlin or LAS in Sep, so glad you were up to date with this. Laughlin has charter flights so that's a plus.
@John Jackson It does not really matter what the lists say, because 1., it is closed now anyways 2., personal experience begs to differ. Most attentive, courteous staff, and wide variety of food there was. To me, nothing else really matters :) Actually, if it is lowly ranked on "lists" and they happen to be open again and I'm lucky enough to be in the area, I'll 100% will visit again, and I can be assured that not too much people will be there, thanks to those "lists".
This was a great video👏🏾I’m going to Laughlin /Edgewater first time 8/30 and your video Gave me good information and insight about Laughlin and Casinos 👍🏾
Thanks for the tour, spent several casino, Harras, junkets there and enjoyed all of them. Always stayed at Harras because they promoted the trip. In Las Vegas we usually stay at the Nugget, like their poker room, food and rooms. Thank again.
`Never been to Laughlin, or Vegas, love to go one day. My old friend went to Laughlin to gamble on a regular basis, loving it there. Looks really nice there, and seems quiet. Are your winning chances any better there, than Vegas?
Beach Cafe at Harrah's always brought memories of Gilligan's Island to me, don't ask why, but yes also reminds me of the Tropicana/tropical island themes too...LOL!
I've hiked over that same 'hill', Shawn, you are braver than I to try that on a hot afternoon in August, with a video camera...! Thanks for doing that for us. Maybe will encourage others to either stick with the river taxi OR drive and park...but at least you got good walking/hiking exercise done...LOL!
Lat year i took a bus tour to Laughlin, wlked the riverwalk from Colorodo Belle to Golden Nuggest where we were dropped off.,I did not know the water taxi is 5 bucks one way, thanxs Next time i can complete the harrahs leg then Aqurius.
Aquarius main entry area trivia: Every year from Thanksgiving to a few weeks into December, they have 12-15 different themed Christmas trees set up there for auction - to help out with charities while also making the hotel lobby area very festive during holiday season- highly recommended for future video - perhaps a Laughlin during the Holidays? just an idea. I'd love it and I'm sure others would enjoy it too...
To me, it's fairly easy for out-of-towners to qualify for discount or even free room rates at the Riverside. I like the property, due to many options for dining, movies, auto museum and even bowling (karaoke/dance club too!). Showroom- if/when they reopen. Aquarius is by far the nicest property in my opinion, although I used to also stay at the Tropicana and Harrah's. Recently I qualified for some rooms at Golden Nugget - and as you mentioned, Bubba Gump's patio dining in evening is a great spot outside to watch sun sets, and river taxis go by. I do like the fact that Aquarius and Riverside rooms have mini fridges in them, and have used them often for my fav drinks I like to bring along for trips- coke-vanilla zero being a favorite and Snapple teas... I used to stay at Edgewater Tower alot when it was affiliated with the Colorado Belle- miss their poker rooms, as I spent many hrs there. Sadly, poker is only dealt now at Riverside and Harrah's. Even Avi's poker room has closed. Since Edgewater and Aquarius (with C. Belle- if they reopen) are all on same slot club now (True Rewards- also linked with Arizona Charlies and Strat LV)- I generally stay at the Aquarius (discount rates). For players, takes ALOT more play to generate offers (vs Riverside), but is a nicer property). Thanks for reading.
I jus came back from there went monday night was badass they lifted some restrictions there casa serrno was bomb plus LAKE MEAD is the spot 2 relax drink boat park ur boat had lots of fun b4 the monsoon came shit was crazy gettimg out but over well worth it
Excellent video Avi Casino and Resort. We loved it there. It’s 10 miles south of Laughlin driving towards Needles. Quiet part of the Colorado River, KOA RV park with hookups, Gilf Course. On the way there from Laughlin there is Farm Land. A convenient store on property open 24/7.
@@Milestomemories That is awesome. It is a interesting drive from Vegas. It goes through the town of Laughlin. Then I can see the Expensive Homes looking straight to the River. They told me the Farmland, they are growing Alfalfa and Cotton in the middle of the Desert. Amazing.
Definitely do a 'separate' video /complete walking tour of the Riverside- as you stated, it kept on growing and adding on, so that's why (to me) reminds me of the Riviera LV (old school and big rambling casino). Basically 2 levels, and it's cool to also walk in from the parking garage across the street...with the annex casino/snack bar and new Krispy Chicken outlet and a Mexican restaurant. The little auto museum in front is just a fraction of the bigger collection on 3rd floor. Also - throughout the Riverside are unique gift stores and shops, like the Watchman..I'll see if you cover those later...lots of stuff stuck in nooks and crannies inside the Riverside. Unique Prime Rib Gourmet room and upscale restaurant 2nd floor too. Buffet area (closed) but they smartly converted to a BBQ dining outlet certain hours next to the coffeeshop. Most of the seated dining areas have views of the river, nice planning on Don Laughlin's part for that! Only the River Lodge would 'match' that type of 'quirkiness' as you call it...LOL! Also on 2nd floor are : Arcade for kids - biggest one I think I'm aware of in Laughlin, next to movie theaters, a bingo hall, conference rooms, showroom, bowling alley and sportsbook! quite a lot to see for next time.... (Might want to google and/or try to get a property map, LOL!).
You nailed it- Ceiling height makes a BIG difference, compare Aquarius with Pioneer, for example on ceiling heights..lol. My fav places to stay in Laughlin by quality is Aquarius (probably Tropicana next- nice rooms when I had stayed in past), then Riverside/Harrah's. Pioneer is more like old school motel /drive up rooms, but quite close to river. River Lodge-I haven't stayed there since it was the River Palms (and before that Sam's Town Gold River)--wow you must study the history a bit for these commentaries--you sure bring back memories for me! As for casinos to play in: I like Aquarius as #1 for many reasons you mentioned- more modern, but Riverside next (bargains for players- benefits for play factors in), then GN, only bec. I started establishing my play there and qualified for free rooms (this will be first year to test out these offers)... Trop/Harrah's I no longer play as much anymore, but had in past. Edgewater now linked with Aquarius/cBelle, but Aquarius is by far a 'Star" or two better for room quality, dining options.
also if u ride the riverboat they tell u the story of the lady who owned property and didnt want to sell it. she finally did and they gave her a nice suite on top of hotel and a bunch of money. cant remember thr whole story!
Street art wall- ok, now you found something new I never noticed before, LOL. As for the 'storage' of old furniture and things, seems to happen in alot of properties that have parking garages with some floors barred from public for that (I was surprised you could walk through it like you did). I"ve seen stuff like that at Main Street Stn garage in downtown LV, Binion's, ahd even Harrah's (on LV strip) at one time. In Laughlin I guess they all do or still do- gotta keep that excess stuff somewhere, until they scrap it, and/or selll it off I guess (Tropicana, Edgewater, River Lodge, and even Harrah's ) I've seen junk piled up like that in farther reaches of parking areas...LOL!
The Aquarius is the only place my husband and I stayed every time we went to Laughlin. Our favorite place to gamble was Colorado Belle though,It’s sad that they’re out of business.
It is closed indefinitely, but if business returns and/or they find a buyer I believe they could reopen. Time will tell, but I know a lot of people love the Belle so I am hoping it returns.
@@Milestomemories yup that's Golden Valley, I wouldn't call it nice, but I'm moving there from Yuma Arizona and it's all about the location!! my friends want me to move to Vegas, but that town is so special to me I can't live in that town... good thing about Golden Valley is land is cheap real CHEAP.. and THANK YOU for making those two videos!!! they were great and very informative!! and being from Yuma I know the hot blistering Sun. so thank you so much for your hard work!!!
I've stayed at Harrah's there & it definitely doesn't have the same "cozy" feel as LV. If I ever get back out there though Aquarius looks nice. I did gamble a little bit there but more at the Belle & Harrah's. I remember an In-N-Out is it still around? The boat ride to Lake Havasu City was rough...small & metal bottom! Super 🔥 in both places (120+ either '08 or '09).
Yeah In-N-Out is there next to Tropicana. You can see it very briefly towards the end of the video when I show the Tropicana driveway area. I think Aquarius probably feels the most like a Vegas casino. I've never done the boat to Havasu from Laughlin. Sounds like an adventure!
Thanks for the tip on caesars rewards being honored at the Tropicana. Were there any koi fish in the Colorado Belle moat? Maybe someday Aquarius will be a part of Caesars. Thats my go to now, the former was Edgewater but it had less selection of blackjack tables.
Tropicana Coffeeshop- I wonder if it was even open (during Covid)? looked quite bare. There USED to be some railroad car housing dining tables in booths ....I wonder if they remodeled/took them all out during the shutdown.. definitely was more like (Boulder Station/Palace Station- LV) railroad themed cofffeshop in the past....
I stay at Harrahs. The food court has been reduced, though which is sad. McDonalds gone, as is the cafe which sold senior coffee for 99 cents with unlimited help yourself refills. The casino is very complete with all the games, but small enough to not get lost in! Best part is the pools and beach. The water in the Colorado River is COLD! The public used to “sneak” into the pool and beach areas and it got very crowded on weekends, , but management has gotten much better at reserving the space for paying hotel guests. Rooms are good enough, not fancy but clean. And a coffee maker, a MUST! North Tower elevator is very slow, inadequate for customers when the hotel is full.
I the Aquarius use to be a Hilton? stayed there many years ago when it was the Hilton, and always found that Hilton had nice rooms. So maybe that's why the hotel rooms are nice at the Aquarius.
@@Milestomemories I used to work there, back in early eighties, the pump house is still there. You can see it in your video. It pumped water up to the plant that has been dismantled, to cool the water that ran through the condenser to condense the steam after it ran through the turbine.
Not yet in Laughlin. I think they'd be required to serve you and none of the buffets there are high enough end for that. I'm sure they'll get them open as soon as they can, but even in Vegas most of the buffets are closed.
Whenever I'm in Laughlin, I stay at the Aquarius. Tried some other places there, but the Aquarius is my first choice. Good mid-class Hotel (I would say, same level like the Flamingo in Vegas) and a pretty good casino. The buffet is not that great, but there are many other choices to eat.

Thanks for watching! Dotty's has some of the nicer casino views for sure! I'm glad you are enjoying the videos.
What an awesome place to propose!
None of the amenities are open at the Avi.
@@lynnbrown5207 , And, they closed their poker room at the Avi, as well 😨
Thanks very much for a nice trip down memory lane.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful video of Laughlin I will visit soon, and keep going doing more videos beautiful like this.
Thank you, I will!
Great memories Clifford. Thanks for watching!
I've been going to Laughlin since 1983 when there was very little there. The casinos were in Laughlin and the hotels were in Bullhead City AZ. You took the boats back and forth.
Both sides of the river have grown so much since then! Thanks John!
The access road next to the Harrahs is for what used to be the water intake for
The So Cal Edison Mojave generating coal plant cooling. I've been coming to laughlin since 1980, when I was born. I used to take river route between gold river to harrahs when I was a kid. It used to be a pretty gnarly trail. Great vid.
Thanks for that info!
Yes. The rooms at the Aquarius are top notch for Laughlin too! I can confirm
Awesome! I think that's the perfect location and the nicest casino. Maybe I'll have to stay down there some time.
But the hotel rooms are in serious need up updating there
The OLD Harrah's
I am from Canada and have been to Laughlin twice. I am sure glad I went to see the casinos especially the Belle. I won a little jackpot the first time I was there. It is a beautiful place. I was there in March both times.
_I remember staying at Harrahs when it first opened in '88. Then when the new tower of the property was opened in '92. (It was appropriately called Harrahs Del Rio). Use to travel down Boulder Highway from Vegas to Laughlin, then back. The Colorado river really makes Laughlin a nice place to visit. Great video._
Thanks Gene! I agree the river really makes the place.
Glad you enjoyed it!
i have taken a charter flight to laughli n from st louis twice. I luved the water taxis and the beautiful clean river. luv the casinos too!
Those rooms at Trop don’t look all that great. I think Harrah’s looks a bit nicer personally.
I was at the Colorado Belle 12 years ago. The rooms were not the greatest. I still had fun! And back in the 80s I stayed at Ramada Express. It had a train that ran around it, but was annoying when trying to sleep. I just like hanging around the river also.
I want to go again soon!
I wish I had ridden the Ramada Express train!
From the UK, visited Laughlin 4 times ,when been inVegas, great place for a relaxing day 👍
Hey John! Thanks for watching.
Thanks Grace!
I enjoyed the tour; you gave a good synopsis of what to expect at Laughlin. Harrahs sends me free offers for a charter and rooms. You've confirmed what I expected: there's not much else to do there but gamble. The beach and pools look good, but it is so darned hot! Thanks again!
Yup hot 🥵! I’m glad I helped to show it to you. Thanks Michael!
Really enjoyed your video of Laughlin you did a great job! I've been going there for over 20 years Laughlin is so much fun and relaxing at the same time. I really do miss the Ramada Express with the train that was so nostalgic. Thanks again for sharing your video!
Thanks for watching Rick!
Another great vlog, love a visit to laughlin, used to go with my late father, happy memories 😊 Thanks for doing what you do 👍🏻

aquarius by far, the ramada express was a great deal back in the day-$10 rooms, but that's long gone
Great video, very thorough and informative. Thank you.
Laughlin is a cool little getaway. I agree that Aquarius is the prettiest, and it does have the nicest rooms that I've stayed in there. However, my favorite casino is Riverside, just because it is larger, and I can find more games that I like there.
It’s definitely a classic and they have nicely updated it!
Thanks Yvette!
Stay Safe!
Thanks Jack!
Wow sounds like an amazing trip! Thanks Barbara!
I remember staying at Harrah’s as a kid when it was brand new. It was called ‘Harrahs Del Rio’ from what I remember. I remember the Colorado Belle too!
Yup I think the Del Rio name is a bit cooler!
Colorado Belle is closing.
Great video! Haven’t been there in a decade. Need to visit soon!
Thanks for watching!
Wow this place is a hidden gem 💎 ... maybe one day we take a trip out there 👍👍👍... thanks for the video,, great job.. new subscriber
Thanks Steve!
Great video Shawn. Super research, details, history and you know I like the high quality of your iPhone.
Keep up the good work.
Thanks again Steve!
I’m inspired to try a trip to Laughlin, mostly for the drive. That beach looks amazing! Will watch Part One to see what your route in was like.
You should! Have fun!
Everything about your videos is just perfect. You provide great tours. Love the music you provide in the background and you have a pleasing voice. You also talk the right amount while other people ramble too much. 👍🏼
Thanks Jesse!
The Aquarius is the old Flamingo. I was very nice when I was there many years ago.
This place is very very fun! I go there every year and I have the best time ever!!!
It’s definitely a favorite of many. Thanks for watching!
What a really well done video. It was so helpful because I'm not sure whether to go their or now with the mask situation. I kept thinking about u walking around, I think it was 119 degrees.
Haha yeah it was pretty hot and brutal! But fun too.
Have been looking out for part 2...thanks!! 👏🏽
Hope you enjoyed it!
Just finished watching really enjoyed it. Subscribed 👍
Fun, fun, fun !!!
We ❤️ Laughlin !
Day activities: Jetski / BBQ on the Colorado River / Mojave Lake.
Evening activities: Casino / 🍺
We usually stay @ The Aquarius or Tropicana.
Enjoyed this thoroughly! Thanks for your sense of curiosity. Love your videos and your Tesla!
Thanks Julie! I’m so glad you are enjoying the videos!
It’s definitely the most complete resort! Thanks Christina.
Just got back from Laughlin this weekend.. was disappointed with my first time staying at Harrah's hotel.. my first time there was at the aquarius hotel.. location & hotel was great..
Sorry to hear that. Back to Aquarius next time?
Great videos, you have some excellent content. I'd love to see a casino tour of Mesquite, NV!
Great idea! I'll add it to the list. There is some interesting stuff to see out there.
A lot of people say it isn’t the same sadly.
I agree with you on the Aquarius Hotel. It is by far the best hotel in Laughlin. I stayed there several years ago and had an awesome room with a incredible view of the river. I enjoyed both parts of this video.
Thanks Bird!
I think this may be your second video I’ve watched . I find you not only informative but you have a nice delivery style and an easy on the ear voice. Thank you. I’m about to hit the subscribe button 😊.
Thought I’d add my own fairly new experience .
. I’ve only been to Laughlin twice
much the first time that we came back.
Thank you again for your hard work
The sunset river cruise sounds fantastic! Thanks for subscribing!
I’m looking forward to staying at the Aquarius with my dad and uncle thanks for the wonderful video it’s going to be my first time staying in Laughlin
Have a great trip Zach!
Great two part tour. Thank you!
Thanks Chuck!
thanks, I'm glad I found this, you did a fantastic video...I'm debating whether to do Harrahs Laughlin or LAS in Sep, so glad you were up to date with this. Laughlin has charter flights so that's a plus.
Glad it was helpful!
Harrah's Laughlin buffet is probably the best buffet all around - in terms of staff at least, surely.
@John Jackson Especially extraordinary their desert selection. It is just WOW.
This was a great video👏🏾I’m going to Laughlin /Edgewater first time 8/30 and your video Gave me good information and insight about Laughlin and Casinos 👍🏾
Have fun!
Always stay at Aquarius been to all but it's our favorite and they give great room comps never pay for our rooms 👍
Looks like a nice place to stay!
Never knew this place existed. Wow! Looks pretty fun to me 😊
Glad I helped you discover it!
It’s very fun!
I go here ever year and it’s fun
Thanks for the tour, spent several casino, Harras, junkets there and enjoyed all of them. Always stayed at Harras because they promoted the trip. In Las Vegas we usually stay at the Nugget, like their poker room, food and rooms. Thank again.
Glad you enjoyed it!
fantastic vlog. Really enjoyed the views from the water taxi. Laughlin is great.
Thanks for watching!
`Never been to Laughlin, or Vegas, love to go one day. My old friend went to Laughlin to gamble on a regular basis, loving it there. Looks really nice there, and seems quiet. Are your winning chances any better there, than Vegas?
I’m not an expert on that but generally regional casinos like those in Laughlin are a bit better than Vegas Strip casinos.
Beach Cafe at Harrah's always brought memories of Gilligan's Island to me, don't ask why, but yes also reminds me of the Tropicana/tropical island themes too...LOL!
Good vdo we will be in Vegas September and also stop by Laughlin. 😎👍
Have a great trip!

Thank you
Loved the cross country walking between the casinos, that's what I do. Not the smartest idea but lots of fun and I've never run into any problems.
Yeah not as much fun in the Summer but it gives a unique perspective.
I used to stay at The Golden Nugget years ago but I stayed at Aquarius one time 4 years ago and have preferred ever since!!
Aquarius does seem to be nicer. I love me some Golden Nugget but that is not one of the nicest locations.
I should've waited till the end! You covered the Ramada ha
My wife and I have been to Laughlin about 15 times. Love it. But since I retired 2017
I love Laughlin, but the Summer is not very fun.
Love me some Laughlin!
Definitely a unique place!
Thanks for doing the video
Thanks for watching!
Thanks! I also wanted to know if the theatre at the Riverside is open. Thanks, again.
I’m not sure. At the time of filming it was closed because all theaters are closed but with some reopening it may be open.
I jus came back from there went monday night was badass they lifted some restrictions there casa serrno was bomb plus LAKE MEAD is the spot 2 relax drink boat park ur boat had lots of fun b4 the monsoon came shit was crazy gettimg out but over well worth it
Glad you had a great time!
Very cool! Keep them coming!! Is the Ramada still around?
Awesome tour, Kudos
Glad you enjoyed it!
Excellent video
Avi Casino and Resort. We loved it there. It’s 10 miles south of Laughlin driving towards Needles.
Quiet part of the Colorado River, KOA RV park with hookups, Gilf Course. On the way there from Laughlin there is Farm Land.
A convenient store on property open 24/7.
Avi is on the list for a follow up video!
@@Milestomemories That is awesome. It is a interesting drive from Vegas. It goes through the town of Laughlin. Then I can see the Expensive Homes looking straight to the River. They told me the Farmland, they are growing Alfalfa and Cotton in the middle of the Desert. Amazing.
Very informative and entertaining. Might consider one of their junkets one if these days. Do you have a video of Reno?
Thanks!
Not right now. I've only been once but I do think it would be an interesting town to film. Who knows maybe I'll get up there soon!
@@Milestomemories South Lake Tahoe would be cool too!
Nice Vlog .. voice, editing well done 👍
Thank you so much 🙂
Me and a couple buddies have been thinking about going. We’re a couple of early 20 year olds. Is this place basically like a mini mellow Vegas?
I think you’ll have fun. It isn’t a party town but there are plenty of places to have fun and that river will draw you in!
Can you show the avi casino?
Yes! It is on my list for my next Laughlin video.
Thanks Martin. Yeah ceiling height is a big thing you’ll notice going from old casinos to new ones. The higher the better!
also if u ride the riverboat they tell u the story of the lady who owned property and didnt want to sell it. she finally did and they gave her a nice suite on top of hotel and a bunch of money. cant remember thr whole story!
Yeah the boneyard isn’t a surprise. Glad I could show you something new. I rather liked that street art wall!
I go every Nov. last time stayed at the Edgewater was very satisfied nice staff all the way around.
The Aquarius rooms are nice Stay there right around new year's.Can't wait to move to Golden Valley Az.
22 minutes away from Laughlin.
Thanks Scooter! Golden Valley looks nice. I drive through there to get between Kingman and Bullhead sometimes.
We used to go to the Ramada Express, and always had a good time. Anyway, again when it was sold, we decided to drop Laughlin and we went to Vegas.
A lot of Ramada Express fans have said the same thing. It just wasn't the same.
Nice to see Laughlin again after going there back in the 80's.
It was open. Wish I got a better shot of it but there were a few tables occupied by people. It’s a shame so much of the theming was removed.
I love the beach!
I the Aquarius use to be a Hilton? stayed there many years ago when it was the Hilton, and always found that Hilton had nice rooms. So maybe that's why the hotel rooms are nice at the Aquarius.
Sorry I wrote this during watching, you did mention the Hilton.
I really like this video. I was at Aquarius last month. Nice hotel. **
Glad you enjoyed it!
You skipped the Regency! Used to hang there after my shift at Flamingo Hilton.
Yeah I did, but I promise to feature it in my next trip out there along with the Golden Nugget's nugget and the mall too.
It's the old access road for Mohave Generation Station/Southern California Edison Water Pump Station.
Thanks Franklin! That makes sense.
@@Milestomemories I used to work there, back in early eighties, the pump house is still there. You can see it in your video. It pumped water up to the plant that has been dismantled, to cool the water that ran through the condenser to condense the steam after it ran through the turbine.
Any buffets open.. great video...
Thanks for sharing your experience! I think Aquarius is where I will stay if I'm ever out there overnight.
How late is that water taxi open? Great video for people who might consider going there
