- With so many people unhappy with the cost of new, latest generation budget gaming PCs I have decided to put together what budget gamers should really be looking for. This system costs about the same as a modern games console and would even give them a run for their money in terms of performance. So lets build an actual budget gaming PC in 2024.

I'd be very happy with this for 400 pounds. I normally scoff at most "budget" builds but this one is solid. Well done.
I've built mine for 430€ with new MB, ryzen 3600, be quiet cooler, 4x fans, case and used rx 6600 xt. Its crazy how cheap and good it is.
That's awesome dude. May I ask what motherboard did you get?
@@josecaldeira7398I purchased new B450M-A PRO MAX for 60€ its bare minimum but for me it works well.
One thing I like to do is buy cheap am4 computers for around a hundred bucks, get a cheap case for 50 bucks, and like you have in this video, a 5700xt for 150. Total of 300, and still have room to upgrade other stuff (if necessary).
Sounds like some awesome systems are being made. Would love to find some AM4 systems for that kind of money, even just to tinker with.
Where you finding AM4 stuff for a hundred bucks? The cheapest thing I've found is buying an old pre built off eBay for around £300 and selling the GPU (usually a 1660 super), but that still comes down to around £200
Brilliantly balanced PC. 👍🏻 and great price
Can confirm that the Wraith cooler gets very noisy when it really gets going, even with a side panel on. It's why I've disabled boosting on my own Ryzen 5 3600 (which is starting to show its age, yes) since it's actually loud enough to be distracting from game audio, even when I'm wearing headphones. :/
build something very very similar last week for my brother in law for total 360€ used:
r7 2700x
16gb
rx 5700 nonXT
250GB NVME
1 TB bx500 sata ssd
Wish me luck, I’m looking to build one for my son and will follow this guide. Thanks for the content, great video. Very clear.
No problem, if you get stuck or need any help don't forget to join our Discord server (Link in any video description) lot's of helpful people there.
Just built a system very similar to this r5 3600 and rx 6600m instead of the 5700 xt because I wanted a "new" card with the mesh support
How much did you pay?
Clever clever man.. ballsy to pick 5700 xt
another banger, great budget build.
Thanks. It's a great little system and one that would suite many gamers perfectly fine. FSR3 + FrameGen is going to make systems like this last a while I think.
@@TechLabUK oh absolutely. i know people act like PC revolves around 4k and no systems outside of that exist. but 5700 XT/A750/3060/6600 XT/1080 TI etc etc level raster is going to carry people for a very very long time when it comes to just being able to play games, granted it isn't being gated by software "cough cough, Marketing" features. especially given node advancement & cost feasibility > performance. and the overall slowing of traditional performance gain.
Nice build mate, personally I would just get a decent branded 80 Plus Bronze 650W PSU around £50 or so but everything else I agree with
That type of PSU would suffice tbh.
@@TechLabUK That PSU you chose will likely outlive us all!
Just subbed and completely new to the world of PC gaming . DCS world is one Im wanting to learn and play bit of a flight sim geek at heart ❤️ . Omg I so confused for what PC I need . So time to watch and learn , nice up load
Watch up on some videos and then feel free to join our Discord server (Links are in any video description) we have a lot of people who can help you spec up a system and we also have some Flight Sim fans!
Great 1080p high refresh gaming system. Brilliant for £400 !
Crazy isn't how much a system like this puts out for the price. Just got to keep your eyes open for the deals and you are good to go.
Honestly I really liked it, true value for money!🤞🏻
Thanks. Systems like this are great fun.
Great content as usual!
Thanks and thanks for watching.
Nice build, I rarely buy new parts the used market is such good value!
It's the way to go for many tbh. A much bigger range of products, often a lot cheaper and you can usually pick up the bigger / higher end brands real easy.
Have to agree. Even when swimming in cash find the 2nd hand market irresistible value. Just picked up an additional 16fgb ram for $33 could not be happier. Also rocking a 2nd hand TUF Gaming X570 board.
I would put the Ryzen 5 3600 on a B550 instead of a B450 and spend the extra 20$ or so. Reason: Ryzen 5 3600 is PCI Gen 4.0 compatible so if you plan on using a 6000 series or 7000 series Radeon card, it's definitely a slight FPS advantage. Or a used X570 which is also PCI Gen 4.0 compliant.
This uses neither lol It's on an A320 board as they seem to be decent prices on the used market and work good enough. AM4 boards hold their price now much more than they did in the past so any B series will cost much more.
@@TechLabUK My bad - you're absolutely correct. We are talking maybe a 5% perf difference so no biggie.
@@Dingbat1967 Yeah, little bit of sacrifice when going budget building but as long as it's not too much it's fine. I wouldn't go this route with a 6400/6500xt though.
Not sure why the price isn’t on the thumbnail or title
Notably, I clicked on the vid from your community post.
No real reason, I just find my videos with prices in the titles / thumbs don't perform as well. No idea why.
I'm planning a similar upgrade for my brother's pc which has a Ryzen 5 2600 and a RX 580 8gb but i will go for new parts. I will get a Ryzen 5 5500 or 5600 (if I find a good deal) and a RX 6600
Even with those parts it will be a huge upgrade for them, hope they enjoy it.
@@TechLabUK thanks, I'm sure that the performance upgrade will be visible
Hi great video, very informative and well put together I'm in the process of planning my first build after having used a second hand PC for years its really hard to find good quality videos that break things down for those of us that aren't as well informed. I want to try put together a build similar to the one in your video but I have about extra £150 to put into it. Can I ask what you would suggest swapping out if you had that sort of budget?. I'm in the process of learning game development so I want something I can use as a workstation too. Many thanks and again, brilliant video
With the extra money you could swap the CPU out for a bigger AM4 Ryzen. I recently dropped a step by step guide to building a PC also which might help: ua-cam.com/video/u39dtudX0bA/v-deo.html
Step one: look at my ps4 pro
Step two: Start saving up for a Ps5
no man start saving for ps5 pro, its same story as with ps4...ps5 is fake 4k
@@dimtodim Maybe i will, i dont care about resolution as much, fps is more important to me - depends on the price in my country when its released.
Ps5 is 700€, i think pro will be 1000€ in my country 😔
@@6FootVampire here in serbia ps5 is around 480e disc without disk it's 440e
@@6FootVampire 700e isn't real price its too higt dont waist your money + you need good tv...2.1 hdmi
@@dimtodim Sometimes the no-disc go on sale for 550€
Hard choice when pro comes out to choose.
Serbia have good price 😃
Im playing monster hunter on ps4 pro now and loading times takes foooreveeeer 🤣🤣
nice build 👍👍👍
Thanks. It turned out really nice and even the more "budget" items used had no negative effect on the overall performance. I would love to be able to do something like this but on a much smaller form factor. I might see if I can :D
I'm just missing a better power supply and a 5700xt
I am sure they will crop up for you. Just keep your eyes peeled for the best deals.
Can i run ff16 on this
Can anyone help me in finding a guide on how to assemble this, once you have the components? Thanks!
We did a step by step guide recently on how to build a gaming PC here: ua-cam.com/video/u39dtudX0bA/v-deo.html
@@TechLabUK thank you so much! I’m gonna try this out for my first build. Thanks for the help!

That's literally my PC specs. Except I have a 3600X and a RX5700, which I built on a tight budget. I'd love more horespower, but this is quite enough to satisfy my requirements. Would recommend this system to any budget concious user.
Yours would perform near exactly the same as this and it's still quite capable. I have no real idea why I ever upgraded from the 5700XT myself tbh.
Would this work with a MSI A520M-A PRO?
Yeah sure, just double check the CPU supported list on the website of which ever brand board you are buying, generally they support most Ryzen CPUs tbh
I have basically the same configuration, except i have the RX 5600XT. I was wondering if it is worth it to upgrade to the 5700xt
I have both and they are not far from each other tbh, only the 5700XT benefits from the 8GB of VRAM. Personally in terms of upgrade I would look a little higher from that. If you can get a 6700XT within your budget you will see a whole new level.
You are so smart. I love your content! Always want to see a nice performance difference when upgrading@@TechLabUK
"A console is a budget gaming device" ...console gamers 👀...lol. I agree totally, I got 4 large in my P.C. easily....good vid bro.
Thanks. Yeah, I have always seen consoles as the more budget offering and in fact many others do to as many in the PC community will tell others to go with a console if they can't afford the latest PC stuff.
@@TechLabUK Good stuff, looking out for the budget minded.
@@jrose-xp6tf For me budget has always been where all the fun is tbh. I rarely find any surprises in high end stuff, even older high end can be more interesting as it's great to see how useful it still is.
if r5 3600 is showing his age what cpu would you recommend stay on am4 or go am5?
It all depends really. If you have a 3600 you could look at a 5000 series. The 5600x has a reasonable jump up from the 3600 or go all the way and get the 5800X3D where you will see a significant jump... if staying on AM4.
I can't watch this video. How does this guy manage to say the word actually at least once in every single sentence? I mean, is it a bit? Did he lose a bet?
It’s actually quite easy.
You did 😂
