I've seen a lot of people complaining that vande bharat is irrelavant compared to the world, which it true but we have to start somewhere right? We started late, i think everyone can agree on that ,but we are making progress, just see the mumbai ahemdabad corridor.
Vande Bharat is not irrelevant, infact it is one of the fastest accelerating trains in the world, the only issue it lacks is it's built quality, if it were made with aluminium and had tilting technologies and other upgrades and also considering the tracks are upgraded it would have easily reached higher speeds. The issue is with rudimentary and orthodox mentality of Indians. In no countries would people welcome a train by pelting stones but here we are in India.
I have travelled in Rajadhani(correction Shathabdhi) at 160 kms 12yrs ago, world is travelling above 200kms and we are talking about 180 kms which is great

I think it’s contextual - Indian tracks can’t support high speeds currently so vande Bharat may be okay. We can’t upgrade whole of India’s tracks instantly but we should make effort to upgrade tracks in some sectors… that would gv us 200+ kmph trains quicker

Railway minister is talking about acceleration level of Vande Bharats. Is it something worth mentioning. Average speed of VBs is 70-80 kmph, with a very small of 160 mph in very few VBs. Nothing really boasting about.
The funny thing is when travelling via vande Bharat i only saw speeds of 130kmph whereas i have always been travelling via superfast trains running at 130kmph ...checked everytime inside vande Bharat and superfast trains, they showed the same peak speed...so tracks and safety needs to be improved otherwise there is no improvement in time saved which is the ultimate goal

But I would disagree with VB being considered the fastest train in Indian Railways, sure they are capable of 180kmph but in practice, still the speeds across the country are restricted to 130 with the exception of Delhi-Jhansi VB which runs at 160kmph but that can only be reached in Delhi-Agra section and then it gets restricted bringing the average speed down. So, I think that the fastest train of Indian Railways is still Gatimaan Express as it is the only train that runs at 160kmph throughout its entire journey time.

Meanwhile France's TVG achieved 574 km/hr in 2007. People are writing that we as a developing country need to start somewhere, right? Yes we have to but the govt is spending just way too much on a largely mediocre train. 120 cr for this train is far more than 277 cr for one TGV set. A lot needs to be done on improving speed by changing tracks, fencing as well as Kavach installation. All that said, Vande Bharat is definitely a superior experience compared to any other train today. Time saving is minimal but comfort level is outstanding. At par with many trains I have used in Europe. Once the speed issue gets sorted, it's going to change the travelling landscape in India. Great video.

Existing tracks don't allow for trains to run much faster. New tracks need to be laid for speeds >200kmph.
