    As someone who is primarily a bassist ( not to mention a Rush fan) I have a real soft spot for the six string/bass configuration double necks. That double neck is really handsome, and I would have guessed it was from the ‘70s. Shows how much I know.

    • @christopherweise438
      @christopherweise438 2 роки тому +1

      Myoptik3x10 - I was just gonna say those were an actual thing. First one i saw i was floored. Gibson complete with EB-O mudbucker. The only downside i see is that depending on the amp, you end up short changing the "other" neck. A bass is gonna sound like shit through blackface twin, and you wouldn't play a guitar through an Acoustic 360.

      I saw Allen Woody play a Gibson Double neck Bass/Mandolin at a Gov Mule show just before he died it was awesome. he played "it takes more than a hammer & nail to build a house baby" on it.

      Black walnut, in my experience, can have a flame of its own. Its very unique and not consistent but very stunning.

    I still have an old EB0 that was my only bass for a long time. Even with the one pickup it is loud loud loud. But the neck dive is scary sudden and dramatic. It was in pieces when I got it and a friend of a friend put it back together and refinished it. I have no idea the vintage because we lost the serial number in the process and the finger rest on the pick guard.

    I giggled a natural finish ES-340 as my primary guitar in the early '70s.
    The controls are quite different from the normal thinline Gibsons.
    The four control knobs are Volume, Blend, Treble, and Bass. Yes, Treble and Bass, NOT your normal tone controls.
    That made it very versatile.
    Add the 3-way switch which was in-phase/out-of-phase/standby and you have a considerable palette of tones instantly available.
    Nowadays they would probably advertise the standby position as a kill switch.
    It was a great guitar and one that I really regret selling.

    I’d love to see a Lucy LP review. Funny we had that swinger episode and now I remembered that Clapton and Harrison literally traded wives

    • @macklanders
      @macklanders 2 роки тому +3

      They didn't "trade" wives. Clapton was in love with Pattie Boyd , George's wife and married her after they divorced. You may be thinking of Ronnie Wood and George Harrison having affairs with each other's wife.

    • @MikeE-
      @MikeE- 2 роки тому +3

      @@macklanders haha sorry I shouldn’t have put literally on something I was remembering from several documentaries mashed into my brain. I just remember the infamous story from the party and them meeting in the garden. And I think Clapton wrote her a love song while she was still married to Harrison. But yeah I don’t think Clapton had a wife yet when he took her from Harrison. But pretty sure Harrison would’ve made sure to bang whoever Clapton did have on the side

    • @MikeE-
      @MikeE- 2 роки тому +2

      To me the best story is one of Keith Richards girlfriends falling for Hendrix while he was still in small clubs in NYC and her being the one responsible for getting him hooked up with chaz chandler and his UK success. Then he dedicated “Red House” to her.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on it with a full review. That is how you know you are a guitar addict. You own the damn thing and still want your favorite youtuber to talk about it!!!!

    Loved this video. I just absolutely love Mahogany guitar bodies, with a beautiful figured top, maybe a couple thin layers of different hardwoods with naturally occurring complimentary coloring in a "sandwich" or in a "pancake" layered between the body and top. When the Mahogany body is accentuated by the other hardwoods, and those body woods have only clear or "natural" finish, and the grain and figuring of the Mahogany has that just huge, rolling hills of golden shimmering chatoyance, it's just magical. I'm building several instruments with Mahogany bodies using an 8' X 6" (nominal 😕) piece of 8/4 that the almost the entire length, both faces, had great figuring with brilliant chatoyance. It was one of two pieces of beyond stunning lumber I lucked into at my local Rockler this past year. The other piece was Purpleheart with figuring more intense, lively, and visually deep, than anything I've ever seen.

    I really think that Gibson USA should do 70s reissues, like they do with 50s and 60s guitars. I'd love to some brand new regular line Les Pauls and SGs with giant headstocks with valutes, maple necks, and harmonica bridges.
    I also think they should do this with the Les Paul Deluxe models that they currently sell

    Other big giveaway on the eds-1275 is the tail piece placement. Vast majority of pre 1970 are placed waaaaaay back on the body. The Dark Lord's being an exception.
