Hi Pete, as an engineer, what’s fascinate me is the complexity of those mechanisms and that all these was think and design in 3D by hand, without computers. I learned in engineering school near 40 years ago how to draw parts in 3D manually and it’s not that easy. Again, it’s fascinating how you can unmount and re mount all those parts. I have no knowledge on farming but thanks for sharing your way of life, your thought and your passion.

Pete I was in the automotive service industry for 35 years, now retired. So many people look down on technicians and think their just dumb mechanics. I found them to be some of the smartest people I've ever met and you prove in your videos how intelligent one needs to be to do so. Just watching you proves what it takes to really work on equipment. Thanks for all you do I find it fascinating.

You asked us why we watch your videos. Well, I'm roughly the same age as you. Born in '64 Starting at the age of 6, I stood in my backyard watching a farmer plow, plant, bale and chop. Since he was a family friend, he asked my parents if I could ride with him whenever he was in the field working. My parents said yes. I still remember the sweet sound of the IH966 hydro. When I turned 12-13 I starting working on the farm. Unloading hay wagons or just riding along to hookup and unhook wagon, I enjoyed every minute. I stopped working on the farm a year or two before I went to college for engineering. I still visit the farm a couple times a year. Walk through the milk house and barn remembering all the special times of my childhood. Working in IT, I would love to have a hobby farm. (Definitely smaller version of what you have) I know its hard work, but I grew up with hard work and enjoy it. So I guess my reason of watching your youtube channel is the range of tractor work, to mechanical work and livestock. I enjoy and maybe envy your lifestyle.

Suggestion: Check into getting a parking brake paw spring that is on an 86 series tractor. It has a heavy duty spring inside the transmission vs a spring on the linkage that you are looking to get. It is an easy upgrade for safety and reliability. The spring on the linkage is weak and they fixed it on the 86 series. It is an easy upgrade on your 756 as we did it to both our 856 and 1066. It also doesn’t need adjusting as the parking brake handle will work in to opposite direction. The linkage won’t need to hold the paw in the park position as the heavy spring does the work. Instead the linkage works to hold the paw out of the park position. Just a thought. Have a good day.

One of the first things you learn as an investigative engineer is error/accuracy stack up. It has always amazed me how a little wear in each piece of a large assembly can induce major slot with the mechanism or cause it to be too tight to work. A little here and a little there can be a whole lot at the end, as you have so well shown. Hope those parts aren't too dear...have a great day, looking forward to next time.

Hi Pete. My 1930 Ford has mechanical brakes. Links, clevises, rods, cams, and levers (solid steel from pedal to wheel as Henry F used to say!) The summation of the slop from wear was similar. You can weld up and re-drill, or drill to accomodate next size clevis. I was lucky enough to be able to purchase new clevis ends and fittings and go back with new original factory size clevis pins.
No welding needed. You might not be as lucky. Good job Sir. You will prevail! Chuck in Florida.

Perhaps some of the oblong holes can be built up with brazing material and then machined back to spec? We used to do this with parts on our garden tractors and go-karts. It worked! Brazing (as you are aware) uses less heat than welding and yet puts down a pretty durable surface, easier to machine (or file).
