Marie-José Pérec (born May 9, 1968 in Basse-Terre) - French sprinter, one of the most successful athletes of the end of the 20th century.
As one of the few representatives of the queen of sport, she won three Olympic gold medals and they were all won individually: in Barcelona (1992) she reached the championship in the 400 m race. Four years later, in Atlanta (1996), she made a great art, winning gold medals both at 400 and 200 m.
In the world championships she won twice on 400 m: in 1991 and 1995. She was also a double gold (1994 - 400 m and 4 x 400 m relay) and a bronze (1990 - 400 m) medalist of the European Championships. She has won the European Athletics Cup three times (1991 - 400 m run, 1995 - 400 m hurdles and 1996 - 200 m run). In 1989, she won a gold medal at the European Athletics Indoor Championships (200 m run in Haga 1989), and in 1992 she won the 200 m run at the World Cup in Athletics in Havana.
After her career ended, she lived in Los Angeles for a while. On March 30, 2010, she gave birth to a son, Nolan; the father of the child is skier Sébastien Foucras [1]. In October 2012, she was elected president of the Guadeloupe Athletics Federation.
