at the end, does anyone else think the reason the screen is shaking so badly is a result of that certain loop breaking down as he's finally able to exit? The various doors that look like a glitch could be a display of all the different loops the MC's experienced over the 'eternity' he's spent there?
Maybe I'm pointing out the obvious here, but, neh. These types of things are absolutely fascinating.

Okay, neat concept, and I'll take a stab at explaining.
You are not the traveler. Rather, the traveler (The Yellow Child), altered something and, unfortunately, caused a loop which you, the character became stuck in. It wasn't just one, singular character, however. The Multiverse Theory was ever present in this game, so that paradox spanned not only one universe, but every universe. So, every time you went from room to room, your consciousness bounced from reality to reality UNTIL you made it to 'The One That Leaves'.
Every single iteration of you was stuck in the loop in every universe until the conscious you reached the One That Leaves. So, in mind-fucky terms, more or less every time you looped, you'd enter another universe at the same, exact moment as the time paradox began UNTIL you reached the universe where you escape the loop. It just so happened that it took YEARS to find it, which is why your character was old when you escaped. When you left the diner, however, the paradox was corrected, and you returned to normal, as your adventures in the loop never happened after that point.

to recap what happened, player was a victim of a dimensional paradox. A paradox is when something can't physically be solved. So, most likely simon did something to that diner that caused it to break what should have happen in a different dimension, causing a sort of rift between the two. You get up and leave right when the breaking of the dimensions happen, and this causes you to get stuck in a static state between dimensions. All living matter that didn't get stuck is in a strange static ghost state which to you is years but to them is seconds. Simon is seen first going through the part of the crack your in looking for you. The meatball monsters would probably be the result of the beings or physics controlling this stuff. The crack you are in makes it so you go through different dineries, which theoretically means you go through different universes with different physics. How long were you in there? Well if you aren't in a dimension, your just in a crack of physics, time doesn't flow. This is the forever thing. You are actually there forever. Infititely. The reason you at the end exit is because you leave the crack, but, you are still there. Just not you, another of you in a different time or a different dimension is. That is why you see you enter the dimensional crack at the end. Simon is a being that understands 5th dimensional physics. 4th dimensional physics is time (which we theoretically live but don't undetstand) which means 5th dimensional physics would be traveling between all 4 dimensions. Time and space. This means simon is a being where everything is physically possible, but in reality, nothing is physically possible because Simon follows no physics. He is an entirely different type of entity, unlike dark matter, time or any of the universe's big mysteries

There's a reason I love marks videos, because he doesn't just play them, he takes them apart, figures out how each individual piece works, how they all fit together, and WHY they fit together, he doesn't simply play the game, he analyzes them. he's basically reverse engineering video games.

I think I get why he turned back at the end. One of the notes said that they got drunk and high but when they left through the door, they were fine. I think that when you leave the paradox, because it happens at all times and no times, when you are in it whatever you do affects your body, and whenever you leave it you revert back to the form you were in before you entered the paradox... Let me know what you think......

They are essentially virtual master objects that can, at various times, have physical incarnations of themselves."-Wikipedia (For those who were curious and do not feel like looking up the term)•Also, looking over the whole ant and paper theory with how the game happened:The rolls of paper are all "next" to one another (don't call me out on the whole universe thing, I'm just trying to make this as easy to understand as I can) on each piece of paper is one ant. This one ant cannot experience too many elements at once, so they take in each expierience on top of one another. Yes, they are experiencing both a long time and a snap second, but they cannot comprehend the one second experience with all the complexity it has. Instead of experiencing all the paper rolls at one time, their mind is forcing them to slow down and experience it one time after another. Yes, everything is taking "forever", and it is also taking one moment, but we can only see it as taking a long time because we are simply too primitive compared to the spime, who could make sense of everything at once. This isn't exactly the best explanation, and reading it over, I can see how I word it, it is extremely flawed, but eh, I tried.
I'm the dev of this game, and I'd like to say you got pretty spot on as far as trying to explain it. Crazy stuff right? :P

Don't worry Mark, you explained it very accurately and easily at the end! I know what you mean, though. It's so cool! I especially love how there was infinite "hims" too, that he himself referenced by saying "the version of me who writes the notes, the version of me who reads them, the version of me who doesn't write notes" as an acknowledgement to the fact that not only is he experiencing all possible outcomes of change within the diner but that there are infinite versions of him in infinite changing diners all at once and that it's not just him. I especially love how the traveler's bouncing would bring notes, and that they were all out of order, because they were pulled from random points and shoved back into others!

That is also a very good point, I find it weird that such a short little game could spark so much theory and idea. I didn't even truly acknowledge that as it wasn't my focus as the focal point of my attention was him appearing to age in the cycle as time had passed, walks in clean shaven, half way through he has a bit of a shadow as if he has been traveling for days. But then I can't help but to ask. Where did he get food?
He was trapped in a diner. Infinite diners, infinite amount of food that doesn't spoil.
PerksPrisoner Well, the thing is, this entire thing happened instantaneously. Time didn't pass at all during that - the best way I can think to describe it is when someone in a movie "stops time" and continues to move in the frozen world around them. these infinite cycles were only happening for about one second, but he was trapped in that single second, cycling it over and over until it fixed itself and time continued moving. Honestly, as he cycles, he repeats the same second. the aging happened when the traveler was trying to get away, and not gradually, although he did get more disheveled. so, he didn't need to eat, because he was only there for one second, or however many few seconds, over and over until time moved again
Fair enough and you make a lot of logical jumps there and I agree with most of them, however his need for food seemed relevant as if he were trapped there for a single second, the walls in the restroom confirm time did not stand still for him as if he repeated a single second for each mark of each dimension that was displayed then he would of been there easily up to a day, this leads me to further conclude he needed food. However, I am conflicted as he also read the letter that mentioned time reset after he went through the door because he had stated that his other self got drunk but moved through the door and it was reset, so this makes me gather he was jumping through different times where his duration in the loop was different because he wouldn't have been able to grow a beard or even a five o'clock shadow as time reset. While I feel I am being a little confusing my thought is if he was jumping through gaps in time that gave him the ability to grow a shadow, that means that his duration of time would change based on which dimension so you can gather that he had been there for mere moments and then at least a day and then a couple hours and then a few moments and then a life time and as he exited the restaurant time returned to the proper place it was prior to him entering which would of been only 45 minutes later, as Mark stated the cafe was engulfed in this orb of perpetual time loops. And eliminating the fact that in one dimension he was there for several years and would of starved as it would of changed his state every time he open the door. I think he was there for a lot longer in HIS time not the worlds time. I hope that made sense as when I rant I tend to scatter thoughts. But the conversation intrigues me

I don't know if you've looked it up or figured it out yet, but a spime is a word that is used when describing the 4th dimension. A 4th dimensional "being" would be able to see time itself. To see "sideways" in time. If a 4th dimensional being were to look at a human it could see the human from birth to death, infancy to elderly. There are pictures and diagrams of it online you can look up. This infancy-to-elderly figure is called a Spime. A physical being (space) that exists within all of it's own respective moments and instances in (time). A figure that exists in the combination of Space + Time = Spime.

This game reminded me of both the book *John Dies at the End* by David Wong & the 1931 novel *Many Dimensions* by Charles Williams, which has a similar version of time travel & its perils. 2 very different books, but both were awesome 👍

spime is a contraction of space and time, though if I'm not mistaken refers to an ideal tracking method for items. I've heard some of the RAC engineers talking about it in relation to small parts buried deep in the hulls of the AFVs, like hull turret sliprings.

Those meatballs or "Quantum Keepers", as the game calls them, remind me very much of the Langaliers (I think that's how it's spelled). They share the same design and they both have to deal with time and parallel universes. This could be that your character is trapped in the past like in that movie, and the giant meatballs just live there to do their job.

At least for the ending, the way I see it, the yellow being mentioned he will fix his mistake for what we call 'forever'. Once he goes out the door, the yellow being had already fixed his mistake, as he says 'forever' wasn't that long... at least to the yellow being's perception.
Well if you're hopping dimensions, forever can be just about as long as you want it to be.

IH8ENDERMAN Haha I kinda spoiled myself so I know about Happy and Walter, but I stopped myself before trying to find out what will happen.
My fave characters are in a "package deal", Toby and Happy. I love them both as separate people and as a couple (but if I really had to choose just one, Toby comes out on top. I adore psychology and it would be incredible to have a mind like his, or at least have him as a friend ^^).

Actually, I think a TV show would be a better idea. A movie only has so much room for such an expansive idea, but with a TV show, as long as viewers are interested in the concept and want to explore it further, you can take your time in explaining all of this to it's entirety without having to worry about room for said idea. That's probably why when certain TV shows have movies like Stargate, they probably aren't as good. Of course I could be wrong about all this.
And yeah, I know we got Rick and Morty, but why stop there?

All the times he went through into the different dimensions were happening at the exact same time. He went into a loop of his moment in the diner. But he was still experiencing it in an amount of time, so his body grew older. Finally he was back in the first dimension as the older man, the first time he could actually leave the loop, because he went out the front door, instead of the back, thus, no time had passed in that dimension and he was back in his original body.

So by reading a comic online you know how the space-time continuum works, yeah okay, makes sense, I watched the Flash so I also have a full understanding of time, I should be a scientist.
When the kid says " I am going fix my mistake in a length of time you call forever.".I had a epiphany that when the kid says in what we call forever, means a long time, but not necessarily infinite because their lifespan of their kind is way, WAY longer than ours.
