In our opinion, the G3 is the best tankless under sink reverse osmosis system. That’s because it’s NSF-certified (lab-tested) to remove many harmful contaminants producing healthy and great-tasting water, it has a sleek design, and filter changes are effortless. All in all, a great RO system for home use.
Who Should Buy the Waterdrop G3?
The G3 by Waterdrop is best for people who face severe water contamination and want to make sure that their drinking water is as clean as possible, but don’t want to crowd their kitchen sink cabinet with a tank-based RO system.
Waterdrop G3 Water Filter Main Pros:
-Certified against NSF standard 58 to remove TDS which guarantees much healthier drinking water
-Tankless design saves space
-Fast filtration
-Easy to maintain
-Wastewater reduced to a minimum
Waterdrop G3 Water Filter Main Cons:
-We would have preferred more lab testing
-You may need to drain some water before reaching optimum TDS reduction (TDS creep)
-Purified water tastes a little ‘flat’ if not remineralized

For those looking to install this...I wouldn't use Tef Tape on a fitting that has a rubber washer, that's probably what caused the leak. If you think you want to use Tef Tape, use a very small amount. A lot of people make this mistake on water heater hose installs too. Trying to help.
I really love this review, thank you!
Very helpful overview. I’ve installed and used the Apec system at our old house but the storage tank took up a lot of space so I’m looking at alternatives for our new place. Cheers from N. California
I agree with the potential difficulty of installion. It depends on a lot of things. For me I have a large garbage disposal blocking a considerable area under the sink. Also, due to the size of my sink and countertop the faucet can only be installed on the side and that will require drilling an additional hole on the side wall under the sink. Lastly my drain pipe's elbow area is oddly short. None of these things are showstoppers though.
Those extra installation difficulties have nothing to do with the Waterdrop system's basic requirements though. It's just an extra caveat before you install one of these: think thoroughly about what you will need to do. You'll be better prepared for the task in terms of skills and time needed. Less skill = more time.
I am not a plumber and not very handy but this install took me well under 2 hours.
I give my Waterdrop a 5 out of 5. My water using machines (ice maker, espresso, kettle) have been deposit free (no calcium deposits) since I got our Waterdrop. I LOVE IT!
How when it doesn’t filter out fluoride out of the water 😅
@@turtondwayneThe waterdrop G3 does remove 99% of fluoride
@@nickl5520 thank for your feedback 🙏
what would you recommend for a whole-house water softener system ?
Thanks for the video! Wanted to see how the noise is? Is there any noise from the machine when you're not using it? I also heard it flushes periodically throughout the day. is that noticeable?
No, there won't be any noise when you are not using the system. That's because there is no storage tank so the system has to produce RO water on demand. All there is is an auto-flushing when no water has been dispensed for 24 hours to prevent fouling. The flushing is certainly noticable.
That is wild they installed the sink under the countertop, I mean God forbid any damage happens to the sink and it needs replacement. Things happen that is just crazy the thought process behind the installers, great video overall though this has a lot of valuable information.
Very helpful! Thank you !
Great job on the review!! Which model G3 is this?
It's the "regular" G3 (400 GPD).
i am in the market now for whole house and under sink to make sure all pfa's and gen x etc are removed for my new build and my son's new home build. what is your top recommendations?
For whole house, check this one: www.best-osmosis-systems.com/water-filters-for-lead-removal/#PIONEER and for under sink we'd probably go with www.best-osmosis-systems.com/water-filters-for-lead-removal/#Clearly-Filtered-3-Stage or www.best-osmosis-systems.com/under-sink-water-filter-reviews/#Epic-Smart-Shield
Hello, please let clarify where did you see the actual NSF listing for that system or its components?
Here is the NSF certification for Standard 58 - pld.iapmo.org/file_info.asp?file_no=0013976
just ordered one.
What size bit do i need to drill through my countertop?
The final hole needs to be 1".
After flushing, what is the sound of the unit like when turning the tap on?
humming
Have you done a lab test on the water after installing it? I'm wondering if it contains harmfull VOCs like the other waterdrop RO system..
Not yet, but we will do so as soon as possible.
I bought one can I leave water in it over night and use it or does that cause bacteria to grow ?
You can leave water in it overnight, yes. There is also the self-flushing functionality so nothing to worry about.
This was great, thank you! Do you have to use the water dispenser that it comes with? or can you use a different one?
You mean the faucet? I'm not sure to be honest.
Where does the MNR filter get Installed on the Waterdrop 800g with the UV System? Before the UV (so water feeds from the MN into the UV filter), or after the UV filter (so water would go from the UV filter then into the MN filter before coming out the faucet)????
It goes after the UV.
@@boswater6065 Thank you for the reply.
I also received the fridge pump for the 800g a few days ago.
Will I install after both MNR and UV filter in place or before the MNR and UV filter?
Sorry for the late reply (comments section in UA-cam Studio is still confusing). I would install after the MNR and UV filter.
does it work on filtering Ethyl acrylate and methyl methacrylate?
It wasn't specifically tested for it, but this is the type of chemical that's removed by activated carbon which the Waterdrop G3 uses as one of its pre-filters.
Great reviews! Question: Is there a product that you rate 5 of 5? OR, is Aquatru at 4.5 your highest rating? Thank you!
Are you strictly looking for a reverse osmosis system?
@@boswater6065 I had the same question. I would be curious to hear what is your best Reverse Osmosis System (or anything else) if we're not concerned with price or installation difficulty
Sorry, super late reply (comments section in UA-cam Studio is still confusing). We are publishing a top X countertop RO system video very soon. And a top X under sink RO system video will follow after that.
How long is the communication cable between the faucet (for the TDS display) and the main unit?
It's 59".
Thanks! Great video.@@boswater6065
Hi, I installed the system and only flush it about 5 minutes and turned off, then later turn back on the screen shows 011, is this too high? how do I fix it to 002 like yours?
a TDS of 11 is not too high. There are probably traces of calcium and magnesium left in the water which are not harmful.
@@boswater6065 thanks
I know this was from a year ago, but do you remember if the water was cold coming out of the water drop faucet? I’m not sure if the unit hold a small amount of water in the housing that become room temp or if it’s filtered so quick from the waterline that it remains cold
It was cold.
Hi.. any mineral in it? Reverse osmosis remove all benefacial mineral too
It does. You can remineralize if you are worried about that.
i see these usually in kitchens.. i was wondering could u have it in your bathroom?
yes!
@@boswater6065 okay! thank you
1 year later have you had any problems with the pump or electronics or filteres?
Sorry, I cannot comment on that. I'm using the Clearly Filtered under sink water filter.
I know this was a year ago, but I have a quick question: Is it the pump loud?
I thought it was okay. But I know that some people complain about it.
Very thorough and clear, great job! I'll be attempting my install tomorrow ...hope all goes well. Have to finish with WOW you are such a gorgeous woman-and have skills-a total home run. Congrat's to you're lucky husband!
what's this like vs the frizzlife 1000 system?
We haven't tested the Frizzlife 1000 yet. But I've added it to our list!
@@boswater6065lookin forward to it... i'm fitting one right now... but wont drink it till i know it aint gonna kill me
Hm, we won't be able to test the Frizzlife 1000 anytime soon, so better not wait for our review. Sorry about that...
Will this still function if the power goes out?
I’ve been wondering the same but haven’t found the answer anywhere ☹️
It won't. The internal pump requires power.
Can you route the filtered water to your existing faucet? I’d rather not install a new one.
Theoretically you could, but the flow rate would but very low at around 0.4 gallons per minute. A regular kitchen faucet has around 2 gpm.
what is the TDS number mean?
TDS = Total Dissolved Solids, which measures all dissolved inorganic and organic substances in water.
Which reverse osmosis system hello, which reverse osmosis system will you guys recommend , wd-g3p800-w vs. wd-kj600?
Sorry, I don't know the KJ600 myself.
the frizzlife 1000 has only 3 filters but it remineralizes
After 1 year, do you still like it? Thanks!
I haven't continued using the system. But from what I hear, most people like it.
@@boswater6065 Thank you! Just not sure if this expensive unit is worth it or not. I currently have the tank and it take up a lot of space.
We're testing several under sink RO systems right now, so maybe that'll help you.
That's a bit of bias. You're rating the whole system mostly based on your installation frustration. If you were a plumber and installed it right the first time, would it still be a 3.5? Consumers care about whether if the product works and how durable it is in the long run, Not the moment of installation, a prisoner of the moment review?
my tds shows 22,i dont know why
What is the feed water TDS? RO usually removes around 90-95% TDS...
I heard that it doesn’t remove fluoride out of water I watch Modern Castle pure review and it show that it removes 0% fluoride 😅
That is highly unlikely for a reverse osmosis system. But we'll do our own lab testing soon, so we'll see...
@@boswater6065 ok Thank you and please let me know I would like to buy this water filter 🙏
I work for a company that buys and flips water filters basically. It would be cool if they could switch to these systems but this is way out of their price range id bet as they but hundreds of filters every month.

Much easier install than your example. Takes MAXIMUM 2 hour if you take your time and take breaks. And your discount code isn't working.
Thanks for your feedback. I just checked "BOSG3" is working.
@@boswater6065 only on the model you chose. They have many.
@@WillieBeard That's right!
Wow, a human being reviewing a product without Ai generated blabbering about how bad water is and why we need one.
I disagree with your rating based on ease of installation. A better rating would be on the efficiency of the system, i.e. water flow rate, contaminants extraction, replacement filter costs, etc. Not a very helpful review.
I see your point.
No reminerization process? A pass for me.
They have a remineralization filter that you can add to the G3.
Thanks but you are not a plumber. You need to rate this on how the water tastes and the ratings from having the water tested !
Thanks for the feedback. It's meant for homeowners and advertised as "easy to install". But you are right, we will focus more on testing the contaminant reduction rates of various filters going forward.
@@boswater6065 It IS easy to install. Much easier than your example. Takes MAXIMUM 2 hour if you take your time and take breaks.
@@hardcoreac Opinion my ass. That's an honest observation after installing it myself.

Waste of money.
Could you elaborate on that?
Entire unit made in CHINA. 🇨🇳 LOL. 💯 CHINA
Thank you very much!!!!
You can't avoid Chinese products these days. I looked for NSF, but some of the big companies are also made in China, so I gave up looking for more.
US made comes at a price obviously. But we'll do more of such systems in the near future.

@@boswater6065 I don't understand.
Overpriced garbage imo
whats better then
why? please elaborate otherwise your comment is useless
IDK 7 months ago most RO systems seemed expensive and bad.
I see APEC and Cheap 200$ Amazon RO systems producing low TDS results as well nowadays if anyones curious currently looking through videos for more information.

Sure, you can share the link!

Ahhh someone from the company... I have an unusual question. I know you said no to well water, but what about running water from a clear stream? I've built a tower that pumps up water from a stream, goes though several 5 micron filters and store's it in insulated tank, I've also just bought the g3 system and re mimetalizer filter.. Not installed yet but what's your verdict? Thanks
