New Stonemaier Game: Expeditions Reveal!!!

- Wow!! Today we got the announcement of not only a new expansion from Stonemaier Games (Tapestry: Fantasies & Futures) but an entirely new game, set in the 1920+ world of Scythe!! While we had expected the Tapestry expansion for some time, the announcement of a new game came out of the blue. Now, unlike previous game announcements, this is a true preorder in that the game has not yet been manufactured, and the preorder is expected to deliver in or around July 2023.

In discussing the game, I made two factual errors (at least). There are 5 mechs (not 6; there are 6 characters to choose from), and the game doesn't end immediately upon a player placing their 4th star. That triggers the endgame, but players get one more turn after that. Thanks to Asa for the correction.

@@MikeB-nn4nh I don't believe they are. You can mix different characters with different mechs.
No, they are not, but there aren't really factions in this game like in Scythe. You have two cards that represent your leader and companion, but the mech can be matched with any of them.
I'm sure it's pronounced closer to "Ya-Kub"
Given the current climate.. It makes sense to know how many to order first
You're right, but I've heard him state in interviews that he's fine with both pronunciations.

Got banned from BGG for simply commenting on the Jakub Rozalski controversey in the forum ...I think because I wasn´t even given a reason. It just makes me so sad and kills a lot of the joy I feel for this hobby. I´m boycotting this one.
Any reference images have been credited..
Hardly controversial., was mostly just people jumping on a bandwagon..
@@MikeB-nn4nh I don´t understand you? Most of the art in Scythe was most likely traced i.imgur.com/0rnazAH.jpg I´ve seen links to copyrighted images he used without permission or credit. They clearly detail how much different his art looked before he started tracing which means he´s most likely still doing it to some extent but just covering it up better. That doesn´t even cover the fake tutorials. So It´s as controversial as it can get. What´s scary is that you for some reason aren´t allowed to talk about it. Just because some people are ignorant, don´t care or both is no reason to silence valid criticism.
Of course, you're free to draw your own conclusions, but I don't see this as a problem at all. References for art are common, and Stonemaier has taken the additional step to credit as many people as they can regarding the art, including references. They even learned this week about icon references being used in some design and are planning to credit that person too. I'm sure this kind of thing is common throughout gaming, but in this case, Stonemaier appears to be making a concerted effort to do right by all. That closes the issue for me, but I understand others may disagree.
@@championfaction As an artist myself I don´t have an issue with referencing but Jakub Rozalski was tracing and there´s nothing suggesting he´s stopped. It just looks like he learned to cover it up better. It´s also not the tracing that bothers me but rather the theft of other peoples images and then lies we were told. I could understand if Jakub came clean and Jamey decided he had earned another shot but they´ve both chosen to stick to the same lie and Jamey demonizes anybody who even mentions the controversy. In my eyes this makes him complicit. The crediting and list of references is nothing more than for show and good optics. Now I´m not here to start fights nor am I here to tell you you shouldn´t enjoy Jakubs work but I´m tired of people inventing arguments to defend a wrong just because they either don´t know or don’t care. Also where is BGG heading if just the mention of this gets you banned. I´ve heard stories about overzealous mods and always thought it was bs made up by people that deserved to be banned but here I am now.
@@championfaction EXACTLY. People should stop crying about this, if im not wrong even Jamey's posts were deleted by bgg. It seems they don't want to talk about it, neither side. But still i know the whole situation looks fishy about Jakub, but i will still continue to buy Scythe, Expeditions, Iron Harvest etc any Jakubs world building games/art. The funniest thing is that people are angry about him "tracing" sheep, BOY ITS A SHEEP. He created hundreds of mechs with his own mind and people are crying about Tigers and Sheep😂
