Nayuta takes control of more people and causes a mass conflict around Denji in order for him to get away. However, after utilizing three chains, she realizes she can't send out any more, and asks Fumiko for help. Initially nervous, Fumiko snaps on a smile and says she's leaving. Perplexed, Nayuta asks the self-confessed "fan" why she won't help, to which she says that her priority is working for Public Safety, so this isn't part of her job. She wishes her luck on her mission, though the young Devil asks her for help once more, stating her family just died. Smirking, the Public Safety agent derisively asks her if they weren't just pets, before leaving.
The mob begin to realize that a Devil has been affecting their sense of reason, only for Barem to come crawling to Nayuta's side, calling to the mob and revealing that Nayuta is the culprit. The civilians point out Nayuta's just a child, but the older woman who was first controlled by Nayuta snaps out of her stupor and points out that she called Chainsaw Man her family. A member of the mob says that children who are fans of Chainsaw Man are killing their parents, though he fails to bring up a source when asked how he learned it. Nayuta hijacks his mind and uses him to carry Denji away to safety. Speaking through the man's body, she remarks to Denji about how he thought he didn't need her help, before turning back to face the mob. Glad that she's finally alone, she starts to go on a murderous rampage, but quickly realizes she doesn't find murdering people to be fun. Dodging a few spear attacks, she's suddenly shot in the shoulder. Telling the mob to back down since she's still a child, she turns her head to see Barem now holding a pistol towards her.

I dont think Fumiko's job was ever really to protect Denji, her job was to be his friend to make him more manipulable just as Makima planned for Power and Aki in part 1, I even doubt her sad story was real.

I could totally see a scene of Denji teaching Nayuta when he first got her like “Okay Nayuta, if you ever get in trouble and I’m not around, here’s what you’re gonna do if it’s a guy. You am for this spot right here and you kick as hard you can okay? Now let’s do a couple practice kicks of the air so you can-“ *Nayuta kicks Denji in the balls as hard as she can and he crumples to the floor* “Nay…uta…wh-why?” “Did I do it right?” *Denji in a puddle of his own drool and the wind knocked out of him* “Yeah….yeah you did…*cough*…you’re…a fast learner” *Denji then goes face first into the ground and passes out*
Maybe Fujimoto will add something like that into this volumes final pages like he does sometimes.
Seeing this chapter reminds me of a quote from Wolfwood from Trigun: "We're nothing like God. Not only are our powers limited, but sometimes we're driven to become the devil himself."

I thought Fumiko was saving face in front of the other rioters. She’d rather finish her karoake rather than help Denji so we know she has a wishy-washy personality. Other than that she probably recognises a losing battle or is too freaked out after her colleagues deaths or from unhinged chainsaw man. I’m sure we’ll in some way get to see her contract and her purpose in the story.
So about Fumiko in that new chapter....

Kobeni and Power, despite their cowardice all the time, did not leave Denji when he was in dire need of help, and they both stood up even against characters more dangerous than these insects. I would have understood her situation more if it had been like the first time she left them - afraid, indecisive, helpless. But to make fun of Nayuta and Denji after their house was burned down and their family was lost, I'm sorry but I'm done with Fumiko, she's trash.
Plus she would have been dead or a hostage if they haven’t fought back.

For real. Kobeni against Sawatari and Katana Man, and Power up against an Army of Public Safety and the Control Devil at her strongest. Yet Fumiko couldn’t do anything to help anyone literally ever, and then she bails on a child and takes a dig at the previous control devil while simultaneously minimizing how the current one feels about those pets. Fumiko sucks fat donkey dick.
My hope is that she dies and her body becomes the new vessel for the Blood Devil and Denji gets Powers memories back. Then AND ONLY then will Fumiko be useful,

Control really got a taste of her own medicine when Fumiko said "weren't they only pets?"
But Nayuta has never felt like that as far as we know. While WE understood it since we experienced and knew Makima, Nayuta really didn’t understand the dig. Denji raised her to view him and the pets as family. Makima and Nayuta are two ENTIRELY different beings with different goals and feelings, and this chapter just further solidifies that. While everyone, including devils, have some aspects of their NATURE they can’t overcome, NUTURE is far stronger, especially if started early enough.
Except Nayuta never truly viewed them that way. For her the dogs were a significant part of her family.
So yeah, that line was dirty as hell.

I feel Yoru or Fami will come to save their sister Nayuta. Barem is working for Fami. Unless he said to hell with her plan her probably can’t kill Nayuta. Next chapter is a day before VD. If Asa and Denji didn’t see each other then they HAVE see each other now in their ost raw form
I think it's possible for Yoru since all the requirements are met: denji/ chainsawman not in the place, her memories got swept so she wouldn't know that it's denji house & control live there, she's currently in the street, and if asa conscious then she wouldn't stand still seeing kid in danger since she's an altruist. Wonder if nayuta will still call fami sis after fami killed her pets😭

I don’t know why Fumiko ditched Nayuta and Denji, but that was the most cowardly and scummy thing she could have done, she had one job and that was to protect Denji and prevent him from becoming the chainsaw man, and this an insult to her job of the devil hunter association, and an insult to her dead family (if what she said about them was true, but now thinking about it’s probably a lie to get closer to Denji) talking trash and insulting Denji and Nayuta’s family despite saving her life.
Having more context from Chapter 156, it makes sense why Fumiko "betrayed" them when she did.
It does feel weird how she said the line of "just pets", but it's possible she said it just because she doesn't like devils and knows Nayuta is Control, and she only "cared" about her as long as it stopped denji from transforming.
It's pretty easy to deduce that her real assignment was to stop Denji from turning into CSM, so before he did that she did seem to "care" about him.
Now, that Denji did turn, her assignment is over, so she dipped immediately, like she said "it's no longer part of her job".
Yoshida also failed to stop Denji from becoming CSM as became clear in 156, so the higher powers in Public Safety and/or the Government ended up imprisoning Denji and amputating him over and over.

Incase you forgot, Nayuta is a kid, her powers are more limited and weaker. Makima probably learned that power later in life.
So, I just finished reading all of chainsaw man and my god I really wanna see where this will go now. I think it’s definitely going to be fami who will save nayuta.
Also, Denji when he turned to chainsaw man really reminded me of reading devil man back in high school and seeing denji rage out like that against the other devils reminded me of Akira turning into devil man and killing all the civilians around him. It was such a chilling moment because I thought that was gonna happen too but denji needed to recuperate so thank god my boy is not an evil devil.He’s just a not bad devil.
My theory is that Fumiko's backstory is a lie.

I can't see this series making a clean landing rn. Fujimoto is prob beyond burned out. I can't imagine the magnitude of creative stress he's under. Nostradamus & Fami's plan, hyping up the Death Devil, dozens of fan favourite characters seemingly gone awol, including Asa/Yora.. So many loose threads.

I think it's obvious Nayuta can't win so the best decision for 155 would be changing to Denji's or Asa's perspective, leave what happen to Nayuta implied, also I don't think there is any dialogue between Barem and Nayuta, I would like if it was Fami and Nayuta in 158 or something like that.

I mean technically Nayuta was going to kill her until Denji stopped her. As well that public safety is basically on ruins since they had to deal with all the chainsaw people which lead to the hybrids escaping
She probably saw that the hybrids escaped which would be the reason she said that she is a public safety member first and foremost
And also because the same hybrids took her hostage which led to her knowing that information
She also did say in the latest chapter, "This is hopeless" which could also tell us that there is no point in saving Denji here because the people would still go after him.
This is mostly on the account that Fumiko does use that excuse to prioritize public safety because it is either that there is a reason why she puts public safety above everything(would be a stretch to say that it has something to do with her devil contract) or she is just afraid and dips

I won't deny the possibility Fujimoto might kill Nayuta, but if he does i'm not going to lie her death would honestly kinda make Chainsaw Man part 2, as well as the entire epilogue of Chainsaw Man part 1 entirely meaningless, like yeah they'll still have to stop the Death-Devil and all, but i'ma be honest I care about that whole plot-line as much as Nayuta does herself, i'm in it for the character stories not the Persona 3 plot... And I don't know about anyone else but i'm ready to either move on from the Denji torture-porn at this point or at least have the situation evolve into something to get hyped for, maybe have a string of chapters dedicated to Nayuta, or get back to what Asa and Yoru are up to... Or maybe even focus on Quanxi for a bit since we kinda just skimmed over her return

I believe the more anatomical description would be her womb, and there's literally no reason to assume Reze isn't alive since all the other weapon-devils are immortal and alive, but that doesn't mean she didn't go back to Russia or something after Makima's death gave them their free-will back, after all she could think Denji had lured her into that ambush with Makima and Angel on purpose and wouldn't trust him enough to try and seek him out again.

Absolute bottom of the barrel in my eyes, Denji's been betrayed in increasingly screwed up ways yet Fumiko bites the most just due to how out of pocket and illogical it is... Power was impulsive, Kobeni was desperate, Himeno wanted to save Aki, Reze was a brainwashed sleeper agent, Yoru wants to not be erased, and even Makima herself had a somewhat conclusive ideal endgoal she was working towards for the sake of the whole, but Fraudiko is nothing but a coward in the best case scenario.
