There’s just no way Togashi would deliberately choose an already established character from Kurapikas past to include in the phantom troupe backstory. She HAS to have a major role in this sometime soon. Togashi wouldn’t just throw her in for her to be a huge part of 2 different backstories and nothing more.

I've got a slightly different angle on this. The Troupe left a note saying "We accept anyone, so take nothing from us," which is presented to us as the sole evidence they did it. But that raises a couple *really* important questions hanging: Who or what did the Kurta "take", and *how does anyone know the Phantom Troupe did it?* That motto is Meteor City's, not the Troupe's. It wasn't widely discovered that the Troupe were from Meteor City until the York New arc. They also, obviously, left no survivors. BUT, if Pariston and Sheila are the same person and thus have the same motivations, both of these questions are really easy to answer. After all, Sheila *knows* how to most effectively hurt the Phantom Troupe: The tragic murder of a childhood friend. Sheila made sure the Phantom Troupe knew where she was going, then faked her own death at the hands of a Kurta. Then, after the Troupe was done "avenging" her, she "discovered" the bodies and reported it to people in a nearby town, correctly attributing the massacre to the Troupe. Now imagine what's gonna happen if and when a bereaved Chrollo realizes that Sheila never died, and they created Kurapika the Spider-Killer for no reason. Pariston is gonna eat well. I don't think that Sheila sold Sarasa out, but Pariston seems like the kind of guy who would be disappointed that, if his childhood friend was going to die, he didn't get to be the one who killed them. And that would certainly be a reason to take some space to ponder "What the fuck is wrong with me????"
Great take. I've seen plenty of sheila is parriston theories, but they all fail to account for why Sheila would change her identity. Faking her death is a great reason. If the troupe wanted revenge, there's a good chance they didn't even harvest the eyes. Sheila might have taken care of that and pinned it on them. That's an easy way to make a quick fortune *and* gain the favor of 4th prince Tserriednich. It should have been obvious even back then that Kakin was the key for a voyage to the dark continent.

It makes perfect sense why Togashi showed us the Troupe backstory when he did- now that we're in the succ war and have met Tserri who has the scarlet eyes we have the final piece of the puzzle. Parison MUST have sold the eyes to Tserri, and maybe in doing so met Beyond who would recruit him for his master plan. Alternatively, Parison could've met Beyond before even becoming Pariston and the Kurta massacre could've been Beyond's plan to begin with?

Wow you’re right even droplets of blood are visible by them so you can’t even make the argument they were used solely to damage the doll. One blood drop can even be seen on one of the razors on the left as well to further support it used on skin.
I mean this does make sense to me, Pariston always struck me as someone trying to be a parody of that rich playboy and it never really struck me as anything other than a façade or an act. It doesn't have to be an ability he has himself. Hell we know for a fact this happens because Beyond collected and cultivated nen users for his expedition.

I have a feeling that Sheila is still loyal to her friends and all that she wants is to save them from the path they took after Sarasa's murder. I think her power gives her vague visions of the future. In her visions, Kurapika is her friends' saviour. She knew that Kurta clan were about to be massacred so she urged Kurapika to take that journey to see the world. She might have thought that someone who's seeking revenge is the one who, in a way, can bring her friends back to their senses. You might ask how is that possible since he was responsible for killing two of them. That's true. But it's also true that ever since the Phantom's encounter with Kurapika, they have changed quite a bit. It's like Uvogin and Paku's death brought them close to each other again. We see that clearly in the current arc. They even started questioning the things they do and recall the days when they were all just innocent children. That or Sheila was one twisted mofo who became Pariston later.
My head cannon for Paristom is that his nen ability is manipulator, and it’s called “Narrator” where he can “tell a story” in the form of a book and it’ll subconsciously influence any reader to act according to whatever plan he wants to set in motion. So Shelia isn’t Pariston but one of his many many pawns because with the nen ability acting on a persons subconscious it would require very little nen. It explains his confidence because no matter what most of the people around him are working towards his end goal whether they know it or not

I think the pariston being sheila makes sense as sheila would want to change her identity to protect herself from the phantom troupe. She is probably involved in sarasa death. The phantom troupe wrote the meteor city moto when they massacred the kurta clan meaning that there was some involvement of the kurta clan in the death of someone from meteor city at least.
What if paristons hunt is “the world” which would explain alot of his actions. Him preventing dispatched hunters for the chimera ant ark led to netero dying, and to him gaining access to many many ant spawns. This also opens up travel to the dark continent on an extinction level exodus, as all who come back, will bring a piece of it back with them. What could be more precious than the entire world? So after watching it definitely feels as though as though Sheila has a connection to Pariston. The view I have going forward is that Kurapika will have his hatred of the troupe deconstructed in tagashi fashion with the discovery of the troupes history and learning a connection between Sheila and Pariston. This could even lead to helping prevent Hisoka from killing chrollo to redirect Kurapikas revenge toward Pariston and use the troupe to do so. I mean he already killed a spot for him to assume. But that is a few theories that need to come together. Maybe to make it easier narratively Sheila is paristons sister who was abandoned in meteor City then was able to reconnect with him which caused the events leading to the formation of the troupe and gives a connected goal for Kurapika and the troupe to go after pariston

Another likely unrelated but neat to think about thing in regards to androgyny/gender with Togashi is that Togashi's wife also clearly likes playing with that theme. His wife, Naoko Takeuchi, is the creator of Sailor Moon, where you had Haruka occasionally passing as a man/dressing as a man, as well as the Starlights and whatever their deal is (either androgynous women crossdressing as men or magically changing between man and woman, depending on the version). So whether they just both like playing with themes like this or one of them rubbed off on the other, it's still kind of interesting to think about.
And also giving the Kids the book THAT IS FROM METRO CITY gives the phantom troupe a real reason to raid the village because shelia could have told them that that book was stolen from her by them (at the end of Kurapikas memories the phantom troup left a letter that noone should take from Metro city) sooooo I think this is a pretty good perspective
I dont know what but I also feel like I'm missing something in the election arc, when Pariston warns Cheadel, "I'll play with you foreal if you make the association dull", when he said that while sad. His face was litterally Shiela 1 for 1. These games are sereous to him, Ging knows by how much and threatening him after he had his attention. Not to overanalyze, but their mini story when they were being hunted down by that party of speacialists was really convincing. Ging caught on to that ruse but he did technically missinterpret Pariston when he dropped the election. All to say, however, convoluted we think. Shiela if she is connected to Pariston, may in-fact eclipse Chrollo in terms of "acting". Since that whole chapter was dedicated to how much the kids were taken in by Chrollo's acting skills. Just as he inflitrated the Nostrade family and fooled the 10 dons. There's a theme of playing pretend. While Chrollo may get the spot light as the star. Shiela/Pariston is the pupiteer.

I have a feeling that Sheila is still loyal to her friends and all that she wants is to save them from the path they took after Sarasa's murder. I think her power gives her vague visions of the future. In her visions, Kurapika is her friends' saviour. She knew that Kurta clan were about to be massacred so she urged Kurapika to take that journey to see the world. She might have thought that someone who's seeking revenge is the one who, in a way, can bring her friends back to their senses. You might ask how is that possible since he was responsible for killing two of them. That's true. But it's also true that ever since the Phantom's encounter with Kurapika, they have changed quite a bit. It's like Uvogin and Paku's death brought them close to each other again. We see that clearly in the current arc. They even started questioning the things they do and recall the days when they were all just innocent children. That or Sheila was one twisted mofo who became Pariston later.
I like this theory.
My head cannon for Paristom is that his nen ability is manipulator, and it’s called “Narrator” where he can “tell a story” in the form of a book and it’ll subconsciously influence any reader to act according to whatever plan he wants to set in motion. So Shelia isn’t Pariston but one of his many many pawns because with the nen ability acting on a persons subconscious it would require very little nen. It explains his confidence because no matter what most of the people around him are working towards his end goal whether they know it or not

I think the pariston being sheila makes sense as sheila would want to change her identity to protect herself from the phantom troupe. She is probably involved in sarasa death. The phantom troupe wrote the meteor city moto when they massacred the kurta clan meaning that there was some involvement of the kurta clan in the death of someone from meteor city at least.

What if paristons hunt is “the world” which would explain alot of his actions. Him preventing dispatched hunters for the chimera ant ark led to netero dying, and to him gaining access to many many ant spawns. This also opens up travel to the dark continent on an extinction level exodus, as all who come back, will bring a piece of it back with them.

Just as the book somehow provided location or survailence on Kurapika's clan, the entire Hunter Association was also fearful of disobeying Pariston due to him somehow finding out. He also somehow has his hands in so many things in HxH that would require intelligence on those things. His nen ability might be related to surveilance.

I think Dino hunter might me a fictional interpretation of Don freecs’s dark content expedition.
So after watching it definitely feels as though as though Sheila has a connection to Pariston. The view I have going forward is that Kurapika will have his hatred of the troupe deconstructed in tagashi fashion with the discovery of the troupes history and learning a connection between Sheila and Pariston. This could even lead to helping prevent Hisoka from killing chrollo to redirect Kurapikas revenge toward Pariston and use the troupe to do so. I mean he already killed a spot for him to assume. But that is a few theories that need to come together. Maybe to make it easier narratively Sheila is paristons sister who was abandoned in meteor City then was able to reconnect with him which caused the events leading to the formation of the troupe and gives a connected goal for Kurapika and the troupe to go after pariston

Another likely unrelated but neat to think about thing in regards to androgyny/gender with Togashi is that Togashi's wife also clearly likes playing with that theme. His wife, Naoko Takeuchi, is the creator of Sailor Moon, where you had Haruka occasionally passing as a man/dressing as a man, as well as the Starlights and whatever their deal is (either androgynous women crossdressing as men or magically changing between man and woman, depending on the version). So whether they just both like playing with themes like this or one of them rubbed off on the other, it's still kind of interesting to think about.

I dont know what but I also feel like I'm missing something in the election arc, when Pariston warns Cheadel, "I'll play with you foreal if you make the association dull", when he said that while sad. His face was litterally Shiela 1 for 1. These games are sereous to him, Ging knows by how much and threatening him after he had his attention.
Not to overanalyze, but their mini story when they were being hunted down by that party of speacialists was really convincing. Ging caught on to that ruse but he did technically missinterpret Pariston when he dropped the election. All to say, however, convoluted we think. Shiela if she is connected to Pariston, may in-fact eclipse Chrollo in terms of "acting". Since that whole chapter was dedicated to how much the kids were taken in by Chrollo's acting skills. Just as he inflitrated the Nostrade family and fooled the 10 dons. There's a theme of playing pretend. While Chrollo may get the spot light as the star. Shiela/Pariston is the pupiteer.

The more he/she cares about the person, the more details the book adds. He/she didn't realize that stipulation until after she caused the deaths of the Kurta clan but didn't get many details added. If the phantom troupe massacred the kurta clan when the troupe was older and she was still young when kurapika came across her, wouldn’t she be the troupes age and height in a sense? I know Bisky can change her appearance so there is proof of that and I know the troupe was founded when they were older. What if that book was actually skill hunter when she passed it along?
