Hi Gary, love this one. It's another that's just what I'll be looking for later in the year. I have a little check list of all the things I'd like in a Les Paul when the time comes and that guitar ticks all the boxes. The Seymour Duncan pickup at the bridge wouldn't disappoint me at all, it sounds wonderful. On the studio's I think some of the finishes look so much nicer because they don't have the binding. I think binding on that one would take something away.
Hi Rod :-) I recently learned that Les Paul himself didn't like the nib end binding on the Standards - I feel the same way, too. I like the socialist stance of the Studio for the proletariat hahahahaha. Cheers, Gary :-)
Hi Gary I can see you enjoyed that. A good, well setup guitar certainly brings out the best performance as this one so obviously did . Love that Seymour at the bridge nice and sparkling and some grunt on distotred. Keep up the good work and honest review.
Hi Bob and thanks :-) You can't go wrong with a Studio and this one's in astonishing condition for its age. It was a pleasant change having the SD in the bridge just to put an interesting slant on the situation! Cheers, Gary :-)
Can't beat early studios, like you say Gary it's a workhorse, and I'd class that pickup change as an upgrade. Love the Seymour on the bridge..Equally as good if not better on the thrust!. Cheers pal.👏👏👏
Hi targa :-) All I use is a little Blackstar ID Core 40. No pedals or anything else and the sound is just from the ambient mic on a Canon M50. Cheers, Gary :-)
Hi Graham and thanks mate :-) You can't beat a Studio for craftsmanship and reliability. Those thin nitro finishes on the Tributes are good for early, natural relic looks, too. Take care too buddy. Cheers, Gary :-)
beautiful guitar and sound man, got me thinking of selling my les paul standard and buying a studio, and then a telecaster paranormal, or is this just alcohol and the latent effects of a sedation for a collonoscapy clouding my thoughts, all the fun of 65 !!! cheers for a great end to a crap day, catch you Saturday Gary keep e`rm coming mate 😄👌
Hi Andy :-) Ooh, a colonoscopy is right pain in the neck.....or should that be something a bit lower down? The joys of advancing years, eh? I think there's veracity in your reasoning here. You can trade one guitar for two and that can't be a bad thing. Especially when you'll probably get the same pickups in a Studio as your Standard. Don't forget, f you're buying used then take a screwdriver to make sure you're getting the pickups you paid for! We've got something slightly unusual for this weekend, too. Cheers, Gary :-)
Hi Gary, A very Fine Example Mate, Bit late this week, I had to have 2 Teeth, Pulled out. But I love the Finish and Colour of This 🎸 Guitar and I also like the Seymour Duncan Pickup's Too. Not bad for a Guitar that's 14 ish Years Old Mate! It's been well Looked After. Kindest Regards Mick 🎸🙏
Hi Mick and ouch! As it goes, I had to go to the dentist for a sodding abscess this week. He gave me antibiotics so I'm hoping that they'll sort it out otherwise the tosh'll have to go. Yes, the one's in great nick for 14 and I like the SD in the bridge. Makes a nice change. Cheers, Gary :-)
If I had space for one more guitar this would be a contender, great playing as always.
Hi Roy and thanks :-) The Studio has long been my favourite of all guitars.I can't recall ever playing one I didn't get on with. Cheers, Gary :-)

Hi David :-) Yes, agreed about the Seymour - it's a bit shinier than a 498 and the output is phenomenal! Cheers, Gary :-)
Sounds great! What rig are you playing through?
