Engines like that don't get producer anymore. You can put everything in them what looks like oil. It will always start.

Nur ein W463 ist ein wahrer 300 GD. 6 Zylinder müssen sein.

Am I right to say the engine sounds a bit rough with a slight clicking noise at the beginning?

      Diesel

@@bushmaster9576 still doesn't sound right. He could check if his glow plug chambers aren't carbed up or oily. Sometimes it's worth warming the engine up every morning for 1 minute with the throtle/choke open, that'll give it a smoother sound and consequently more power on the road. The older diesels don't like short trips to the supermarket. Also because the thermostats open at around 80 degrees C you can cook your intake and exhaust valves causing them to over expand. Especially if your clutch fan is beginning to fail, normal for older mercs with non electric fans this will be noticable in summer. But if you leave the heater fan slighlty open by a smidgen to keep the radiator liquid flowing you will over time get rid of some of the above said tapping noises in the valves as they "clean themselves".

Ok so I just looked at the video again and noticed: the thermostat went up quite fast for a short trip around the block, the throttle switch is missing from the dashboard, and a rev counter should be installed because these engines like to run between 2000 and 2500 revs/minute. Go above and your fuel intake increases considerably, below 2000 revs your engine will heat up.
