I’ve been a huge fan of Stryper since 1985. They are one of the few bands that survived this long. Michael Sweet is a phenomenal singer and is one of the few vocalists that still sounds great. Stryper was the band that really blew open the doors for Christian metal. They don’t consider Stryper a Christian band. But rather 4 Christians in a band spreading the gospel. They got flack from the secular community as well as the religious community. They’ve stood the test of time. Checkout transgressor.
I think the vocalist from Styx you're thinking of is Dennis DeYoung, who's no longer with the band. Michael Sweet does have something of DeYoung's singing voice and style, but then Sweet takes it even further with those high-notes that most men can't even reach.
Ok what I do know about the band theme of this song lonieness is that jari composed this song after his father passed away and he put his emotions into lyrics on his feelings about that time in his life which i know when you reacted to Wintersun land of snow and sorrow Kelly you mentioned that it reminded you of your father's passing which i guess thats the reason you chose this song next for Wintersun which also for me my father passed away when it was winter which i believe your father as well did. So Kelly now you me and jari have a connection with this song about that topic which many of the Wintersun fans have mentioned that on UA-cam also but give credit where credit is due for jari teemu jukka and kai for creating these emotional pieces of music as you said recently it gets you right in the feels. Grew up in an ultra conservative church. Stryper for some reason was the exception for me to listen to. Loved the band and such an amazing vocalist.
Their music in the last ten years is as good as ever, and they sound the same.
Love Stryper but they have newer music . They new album is a couple weeks old. it's called When we were kings
