To be fair, blunt force trauma alone is good enough to make a mess out of our squishy bits from the inside of our armors. Medieval combat used a lot of blunt force trauma to get around armor and chain mail due to the shock of said forced being strong enough to break bones. Also, machines have many small parts. Even moreso on complicated machinery such as mobile suits. It is usually good enough to cause pilot death as opposed to disabling a mobile suit in some scenarios. The Tallgeese kinda thinks of this concept with its High G Forces killing most of its pilots.

The reason why the Gundam Hammer was so effective is because unlike a beam saber blocking it is a nightmare. You can block a beam saber with a shield but not so much with the hammer and unless you are in some of the more heavily armoured moble suits it will clean your clock good. Even if you happen to cut it in half the chunks will still be flying at you because momentum is a thing. It may not be the most practical weapon but when it connects it is a thing of beauty.

Also since it work through concussion its bound to cause great damage as realistically even a mobile suit with a ton of armor or just very good one (like the main Gundam) would still feel it since the sheer kinetic energy might damage the internals including the cockpit

It's not that stupid when you consider that a mace is really good in melee combat since its a powerful force multiplier with the right momentum and it proved effective in medieval combat so why should it be any different with a 20m mech? I honestly think it's more reasonable than a heat weapon that has to be replaced every now and then because of the metal becoming warped and less durable overtime making heat weapons a disposable weapon and it is also better than a beam saber since it doesn't require energy from the mobile suit to produce a beam it's just a hunk of sturdy steel to throw at your enemies making them feel what Paptimus went through when Kamille crashed his zeta in it's wave rider form straight to his cockpit crushing him. it's really more reasonable to just use a really big a55 hammer/mace which is just a hunk of steel that replicates the damage equal to a mobile suit crashing into a wall and in space with the lack of perceived weight it would be a very effective weapon and anchor, not to mention you can also use it as a mobility tool much like when mobile suits have AMBAC controls in space you can use the mace to generate momentum to propel yourself using the release of the mace to the direction you desire very useful when your run out of thruster fuel, call it dumb but it has its purposes especially when wielded by a very powerful mobile suit that can handle the weight of a mace and it's honestly better than being left with no other option than your mobile suits bare hands on the off chance you lose your primary weapons.

What I find stupid though is the beam naginata, there is literally no reason for it to be double sided(tip and rear) , double sided spears were never useful in real life hardly anyone used them because of the chance you could hit yourself or the person near you with the other end

@@traphimawari7760 I didn’t meant to say that the Gundam hammer was stupid I meant it as is like first it was stupid but now I like it as a weapon It’s super cool but you must be smoking the Beam Naginata it is literally the Zeon version of the Beam saber and it is super useful if you know how to use it yes it could hurt you. If it was a real weapon is just plasma a gigantic double ended sword plasma if Darth maul could be good with a double light saber then the beam saber is the same thing Just be careful to not cut yourself or the MS.
I forgot to say this but you could do something that the Gundam beam saber couldn’t do until the Nu beam saber It has a back blade so just in case someone tries to stab you in the back you could just defend yourself just be quick.

There is actually a Gundam Hammer-like weapon in IBO. Under the wiki page of the Gusion (the original Krogan one) you will see that there is a Gusion Axe where theres a flail on the edge of a poleaxe. This weapon can also be seen on the HG IBA Set 3 with an actual fully-molded plastic chain.
Edit: Mind you this weapon was never seen on the anime but was likely developed and got left on the anime's cutting room floor.

The I-Field Reference might be an explanation behind the Turn A's hammer shield move but that's likely stretching it

2:50 script error, That's Jungle Fury not Dino Fury (Understandable to get it mixed up since Dino Fury is the currently airing series so more likely to show up in research)

Just like you my preference goes out to the GN Hammer. Out of all of the hammers that one feels a lot more practical.

Judging by the handle of the Gundam Hammer/Hyper Hammer, the design might be more of a kusarigama there combined with a meteor hammer. While it's anchor shaped, it's essentially a double bladed kama or sickle there.
Amuro just isn't someone who knows how to really fight with one

You would think the beam chain would've cut the arm off of the bolt gundam in the scene where it's has its arm gets tied to the rock. That scene always bugged me for some reason.
