Sawyer, have you ever made the trip to the Netherlands just to ride around for a few weeks? The cycling infrastructure is so developed you have bona fide cycling highways in between towns and cities that parallel the automotive highway. It was a total blast to experience.
What a beautiful bike. My dad rides a Raleigh from this era, 73, I believe, 2 by 5 as well, but 28 inch wheel. He can't use the original wheels because they don't hold their shape anymore, I hope yours are better :P
I ride a ~1975 Raleigh! It’s a step-through, which is nice. It still has the original wheels, fenders, pedals, chain, handlebars (not grips), shifter, cables, and internal gear cylinder. I love it!
I'll never understand rim breakers. I'll never go back from disk breaks. ❤ Have you considered going from front to a rear basket? I tried a front basket on my new bike and ended up moving to the rear door much greater stability. The green is a lovely color. Especially with the exposed steel.
The only bike I feel I need disc brakes on is my gravel bike due to going through mud and muck. Most of my bikes are road/touring and I don't really feel like I'm losing anything by using traditional rim/canti brake setups. Also the stay/fork reinforcements required for disc caliper mounts look ugly as hell IMO.
Also I've used rear baskets and pannier setups and they're fine, but I find the convenience of a front basket very appealing. Fork trail and front load positioning are important to work out, certainly, but I have bikes that are completely stable with a loaded front basket/rando bag.
Is there decent bike infrastructure in Irvine? I'm in San Diego and even with the painted bike lanes, I find it almost suicidal to bike around here. I've seen so many cars either drive in them or cut across them.
Irvine, specifically, does have reasonably good (for the US) bike infrastructure. The San Diego Creek and Jeffrey Open Space Trails, which are completely separated from roads, wind through most of the city. The streets all have bike lanes, though they are not separated and the traffic is usually like 50 mph lmao. Still, way better than SD.
Bro designed fallout new vegas AND appreciates fine vintage bikes???? What a legend

Love the bike and the modifications you made. Looks beautiful.
I'm imagining just standing around admiring this classic bike in perfect condition then Josh Sawyer walks out and hops on it!
Damn, that bike is a beauty!
Very nicely done. It's nice to see that 700X32 can fit on an International frame.
I actually had 700x35 on for a while but it was really tight in the back. I needed to push the wheel waaay back in the dropouts.

I got it from a classified listing. The guy I bought it from said it was in a movie prop warehouse for a while.
I can confirm that is a bike. Bike check complete.
Very nice looking ride, I will try a modern BB to see if it works. Thanks for sharing.
sick bike dude, love the lime green
👀 RARE PENTUPLE UPLOAD MONTH????
Holy cow man I’m new here but we would love if you were to upload more
Looks cool as hell
All my bikes have the VO drillium crankset after seeing one of your Instagram stories. I want to cover the world in drillium
they look great, 48/34 is a solid combo, and honestly i've found the chainrings shift really easily. i love it.
