- With this video, we will share a comparison between the Valeton GP 200 LT vs the LINE 6 HX Stomp. First of all we will hear the units in action with a demo song, then we will compare the technical characteristics of the 2 units with a very detailed comparison chart, then we will ear more sounds, comparing the units vs real tube amps checking out the frequency response, the dynamic range mng, the note envelop, and the FX, and finally I will give you my 2 cents. I hope you enjoy, and please sub and ring the bell, as it would help me to make more videos like this

Thank you Leo, as requested you have made this video . Great demos as usual. 🙏🙏🙏
You are welcome!
PERFECT video and comparison of these two effects !!! thanks :)

Thank you so much, I'm really happy that you like the playing and the review!!!
Great review and excellent demo song as usual Leo. You have such a destinctive style and sound, it's always fun to see what you come up with. I love that Strat of yours. I think they all sounded very similar in the mix (which was fantastic). In the individual test, I think the HX more closely matched the real amp, but EQ could fix that easily. For the price, the Valeton is a killer deal! God bless and rock on 👍😎🎸
Hi, thank you so much, both for sharing your opinion and for the compliments, that I really appreciate!!!
Thankyou leo, great review
Thank you so much, I'm really happy that you like the video!
Great play through Leo . No need for those effects comparisons. Listening to your great composition is suffice😬🤘🏾 #staysafe❤
Thank you so much, I'm really happy that you like the music!!
Another excellent video, Leo! Personally, I have found that ease of use trumps most other factors if the sounds are respectable. For instance, with my Mooer GE300 Lite, I'm able to get a decent sound really quickly and a good sound after tweaking just a few minutes. The default settings on most amps / fx / cabs are good to go on the Mooer and then it's just a matter of finding a good spot in the mix. I don't need a zillion parameters.
Currently, I'm eyeing a device to function as a backup. The Nux MG-300 didn't cut it for me. A smaller unit like these might just be the thing and the Valeton is a good candidate.
Have you been able to check out the Nux Amp Academy yet? Talk about ease of use. Sheesh. Plug in a few pedals in front and let's play a gig! ;-)
Loving your channel!
Thank you so much Nico, I'm really happy that you like the video and the channel and thank you also for sharing your findings and experience with the Mooer!

Hi Leo, great video as always!!! For the price, Valeton LT is so great as is not too far from hx stomp in terms of sound.
Thank you, for sharing your findings and I'm happy that like the video!!!
Good review. Snapshots are a big winner for me as you can assign one foot switch to enable/disable multiple blocks and update configs to blocks. It appears you forgot to mention Windows/MacOS support for the two devices. One appears newer and cheaper less developed, one is older more expensive, and refined. The Helix has way more delays and each effect block has more adjustments to the block. Nice! But the Valeton has fewer adjustments and may be easier to setup. I really like the bigger screen.
Hi, thank you for sharing!
I could hear a lot of background hiss during the HX Stomp's Fender Deluxe tones which weren't audible on the original or the Valeton. Other than that they were very similar indeed. Excellent review Leo I was looking for just this comparison.
Thank you so much, I'm really happy that you have appreciated the video!!!
Thank you also for sharing your findings!
Nice song as usual, very pleasing on the ears!
Thank you, really appreciated!!
Hi Leo ! Great video, so much time you put on these comparaison ! For me... Line 6 is Yamaha. Its sufficient to make a choice... Quality/reliability/ history..
Hi Michael, you are welcome and I'm happy that you like the video! Thank you also for sharing your opinions!
You’re playing is really top notch Leo🤟
Thank you Cristopher, I'm really happy that you like my playing!!!
Another FANTASTIC video! I must admit, the HX is audibly smoother sounding than the GP which gets a bit more brittle within the plexi break up. I recently started using 48K for everything so having that bandwidth is helpful and a bit more future proof. Even so, the OS on the GP is almost self explanatory where the Line 6 (I have a Helix LT) is very frustrating to me. Also, having 11 effects blocks translates to more freedom creating patches. The parallel chains are not much of an enticement for me. I think for real world work in a home studio as well as silent stages, the GP-200 gets the win. It’s got more than enough going for it and offers more creative options and ease of use (which can be a real deal breaker).
Thank you so much, I'm really happy that you like the video!
Thank you also for sharing your findings!
Great comparison and beautiful demo song. But in the mix I find the Ride cymbal to be too loud.
BTW, Do you plan doing a test of the Mooer GTRS guitars (the ones with the built-in modeler)?
Hi, thank you, both for the compliments and for your suggestion...I will check out the Ride in the next videos. As regards the GTRS, if Mooer will send me one to try, I would be very happy to make a video about it.
Thank you!
Excellent demonstration the Valeton wins on price and ease of use. The difference in sounds is minimal. Plus you get a drum machine with the Valeton. Lower price means the Valeton wins.
Thank you, I'm happy that you like the video!
Thank you also for sharing you findings!
Excellent playing brother. I still prefer hx 😍
Thank you so much, I'm happy that you like the playing!
Thank you also for sharing your opinion!
Hi Leo - The IR spec is - WAV (44kHz/1024 sample rate). Found on bottom of page 41 of the PDF manual.
Thank you, really appreciated!
Great video as always Leo! The only thing missing here is I would really emphasize the price difference - the HX Stomp is almost exactly twice as much as the Valeton (£499 vs £249 at Andertons)! Because of that, the main question shouldn't be "which one is better", but rather "is the HX Stomp twice as good". In my opinion the HX is a better device overall, but the Valeton is such a good value for the money it's unbelievable. Even the fact that you're comparing the two as if they are direct competitors is proof of that!
Thank you ...good points!
Hi leo, i think there's something wrong with video description, it says hotone ampero 😅 ... good comparison leo
Thank you so much!! I have changed the description...🙏
Thanks for the special video....
You know im a Ampero One man but i think Valeton run fast too...
You are welcome and thank you for sharing your findings!!!
Great Tone, Great composition !!! What drums plugin to use In this Song? Thank you !!! 🎯👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you so much, I'm really happy that you like the music! I'm using EZDrummer 2
Please also compare the HX Stomp and the Ampero II Stomp head to head.
Hi Steve, here you have it: ua-cam.com/video/2kugoLNLqPQ/v-deo.html
very good men
Thank you sooo much!
Which modeller would you use @Leo if you had to choose one under $800 USD?
Hi Sarah, well it's hard to answer...and I typically don't have a unit that I prefer above all...some of them are good for some aspect and some for other aspect. For instance the Ampero Stomp II has a very nice Soldano SLO 100 recreation, the MG 30 has a loverly JCM 800, with the BOSS FX 100 I created one of my favourite Strat tone...it really depends...
Thank you!
Nice. Change video description Leo. There's ampero review on it,
Thank you!!! I have correct it!!!
Hi Leo. Great video. Will you compare valeton gp200lt to the Hotone ampero 2?
Hi Daniel, they are in a pretty different price range...I will think about it.
Thank you for your suggestion!
@@LeoGibsonGtr In your opinion , the Ampero is much better than The valeton gp200 lt?
Sound wise they are pretty similar even if Ampero provides you with more tweaking options, like the possibility to place a mic across a cab, but the main algorithms are similar if not the same.
Thank you!
Demo song sounds great! How du you create your drum sound?
Thank you Marcus!! I use Toontrack EZDrum 2.
Today arrives helix 3.5 firmware honestly we have a winner.
Hi, thank you for sharing!
With Valeton can you use the 4 footswitches to toggle between 4 different patches?
Hi, I think yes
I wonder, if we normally try to get the most realistic sound, what good is a mic simulator and its position when the IRs have already been miked with real microphones? would we place one microphone behind another?
Hi, I'm sorry but I've not understood the question.
@@LeoGibsonGtr What I mean is why use mic simulation if the IRs were already captured by real mic?
Hi Leo, I have the impression that the Valeton GP 200 LT sounds more transpranced with the Marshall sound and the tonal resolution is a bit better than the Line6 HX Stomp. The HX Stomp sounds more lifeless to me. When comparing it to the Fender Deluxe-Reverb, the Valeton also came out ahead for me. To my ears, it sounded fuller and a bit warmer than the Stomp.
Hi, thank you for sharing! Interesting points...
Leo, wich multfx that you use until now, do you think have better pitchshifter?
Hi, I'm not an heavy pitch shifter user...and I should make a direct comparison to be able to answer properly. Maybe I will do a video about this topic.
Thank you for your suggestion!
Thanks, Leo, this would be a huge help for all pitch shifter fan, like me. 😄
On my Valeton GP 200 LT I find the SLP is quite muddy, muffled. It doesn't sound as crisp as your SLP illustration, which is crisp and clear. Maybe this is because Valeton have provided the SLP without jumpering or high treble options, unlike with the UK 45 and UK 50 amps. How did you get your SLP to sound so clear and bright, like the real jumpered SLP you illustrate? Or is that in fact Valeton's UK JP50 and not SLP? I am wondering if I have a corrupted firmware or if Valeton have made an error with models in V1.3.0. Thanks
He used a external impulse response, Green SM 57
@@ViniciusFrutuoso - certainly so. But all the same, Valeton SLP has only normal channel, not the jumpered option available and used on the Boss and his real amp. The sound should therefore be darker, not crisp, as he has. His Valeton sounds like a jumpered SLP, which doesn't exist.
i go to Hx line 6 more transparent but expensive but deserve the price
while Veleton is for tight budjet but right choice of pedal both pedals are Good thanks Leo for this demo salute
You are welcome and thank you for sharing your findings!!!
I haven't seen mentioned here so if you have the HX Stomp, you are eligible to a pretty hefty Helix Native discount. ($100 instead of $400) For those of you who haven't heard about Helix Native, It's the same algorithms thus sounds as any of the Helix product line, but without limitations, depending on your computer of course. Also you can try it for 15 days for free, so if you already have an audio interface, you can "test drive" the HX Stomp without purchasing it.
Hi, thank you for sharing!
Leo which one do you prefer... Valeton GP 200LT or Nux mg30???
Hi, well, these are both very nice and useful machines...I don't know...I should do a video comparison to be able to answer properly...😀
@@LeoGibsonGtr pls , i will be waiting
Valeton need to add parallel effects, more bass amps and mics to be goat
Hi, thank you for sharing!
Ciao Leo,secondo te meglio ampero 2 o valeton gp200lt?
Grazie
@@LeoGibsonGtr grazie mille!!
I would buy valeton because I like the sound better. hx stomp is more functional
Hi, thank you for sharing!
Both nice, but I would go with the Boss GT1000 core instead. The HX stomp has nice amp emulations, but I prefer to use real amps anyway, and just use these multi effect units for modulation effects on my board. As far the pedal effects, I feel that the GT1000 core sounds closer to the original pedals to my ears, and it has lower latency than those other units as well, which makes it feel more responsive to me.
Hi, thank you for sharing your findings!!
I agree with your assessment. If you're new to Modelers, the Valeton is probably a better choice due to the price, 4 buttons, and screen size.
Regarding audio comparisons, echoic memory is very short, so I think it would be easier to evaluate examples if they are short and the gaps between them should be short as well. One other features you may want to include is "overall build quality" for things like chassis material - metal/plastic, type of switches - noisy/quiet, etc.
How "hot" in temperature does the Valeton get if left on for a long time? My HX Stomp gets hotter than I'd like, so I keep a computer fan next to it to wick away excess heat. Thanks
Hi, thank you for your suggestions!!! Yes, I'm always unsure if to cut the samples or to leave them longer in order to hear clearly the decay...Nevertheless I will try to keep them shorter.
Thanks!
@@LeoGibsonGtr There's also video length to consider. I can usually find time to watch a 10-20 minute video. But, if it's longer than that, I have to start planning and guessing if or when I can allocate time to watch a longer video. I suspect other people have a similar criteria.
Some time ago, I started using a Browser Plugin called "UA-cam Enhancer" so I could quickly change the speed of videos, which I usually watch at about 1.7x. But, I listen to audio equipment samples at normal 1x speed.
Hi, thank you for your suggestion! Let me add that these comparisons are the most watched videos of my channel, and I think that guitarists appreciate to have everything in one video...technical characteristics, tone comparisons, etc. I would say that it is not necessary to check out the whole video in one moment. You can watch part of it one day, and other part another day, but at least I think that it is appreciated to have "a place" where you have (I hope) everything you need to make a purchasing decision.
I have also tried to split the video in two shorter parts...but finally both the video parts have not obtained the same views and sub as the whole unique video.
Thank you for sharing your suggestions, I really appreciate your feedbacks!
@@LeoGibsonGtr agree with you....
Thanks!
Valeton 200lt vs hotone ampero 2 vs headrush mx5
Thank you for your suggestion!
Another test that no one does, is how it sounds direct to an amp, without virtual amps and IR´s,,,If you did this, please tell us
Hi, you mean using the 4 cable methods and testing the effects with the amp?
@@LeoGibsonGtr no, in front of an amp
The 4 cable method is both in front of the amp and in the amp's fx loop (with the GP 200 not LT). It works great in with my amp (which has an fx loop). The best part for me is that I can use the 4 cable method and have the USB interface to my DAW to play back anything through my amp (like backing tracks and midi loops). It's a fun practice tool for me and have no interest in amps or caps. I do use the acoustic amp through my power amp and am pleased with the results (just send the acoustic amp sym to the fx return).
Valeton gp 200 lite vs headrush MX 5
Hi, thank you for your suggestion!
Valeton GP 200 LT best.
Hi, thank you for sharing!
i almost feel like the GP-200LT has more even competeder with the Headrush MX5
Hi, thank you for sharing!
As the videos were really helpful for the "low budget" units, this one is not. I had a Headrush mx5 and the dual amp settings are killing the tone. Yeah you can compare it like one amp to any other unit, but when you use a dual amp settings it kills all other units that was compared to. That is not only my opinion a lot of that I read on the forums as well. And here there was no mentioning or even trying to use dual amp setup to compare it. And that brings the price for both modeling of Headrush and this Stomp. But the feature was not used for comparison but it was mentioned many times that it is a lot more expensive...
Well, actually in the comparison chart I clearly mentioned that the Valeton does NOT allow parallel effect and does not allow to load many instances of the same effect block, where on the other hand, I mentioned that the HX Stomp allows both to load many instances of the same effect, and allows also parallel effects...
I've also mentioned this feature in the "my two cents" section of this video...
You are focusing on the dual amp...but actually the difference is even bigger as I have highlighted in the video..
@@LeoGibsonGtr nice diplomatic reply. It doesn't change the fact that if you stack 2 plexis it would have a better tone :) that was my point and many comparison in that way are not ok imo. And price for stacking 2 amps is really higher... and it is imo not comparison apple to apple. But you did not day anything wrong, I like the videos. But as the tech goes on, I think you should change a bit how you are handling the reviews. As if you put one unit to 100% use and the other 70% for the same purpose and money that we need to pay for it, it is not apple to apple comparison.
Well, doing all these reviews I have learnt that "better tone" is subjective...stacking two amps you would get a better tone in your opinion, but it is not necessary my opinion. For some of us it is important to have 2 distortions blocks one after the other, for other it is important to have two delays in parallel, for you it is important to have two amps...in this video I'm pointing it out that the HX gives you the possibility to have more instances of the same effects, to have parallel effects blocks (that could be amps or delays or whatever) and then you can decide what it is important for you...
Thanks
@@LeoGibsonGtr so far anyone that I showed, this "trick" agreed that the sound is not as I said :better" but more realistic for the Amp in question. If you do not agree to with that it is OK. But I would love to see you compare it on live video and claim what you claimed now to me.
Ampero stomp2)))
😀
hx stomp, by far
Hi, thank you for sharing your opinion.
Even more so with new features in firmware 3.50.
guys... the jcm emulator from the helix...... sounds VERY CLOSE to my pod hd500..... you know what i mean
Hi, thank you so much for sharing your findings!
I mean... When compared to the real tube amps, these pedals fall short... Tubes all the way!
Hi, thank you for sharing!
how does the line 6 hx stomp vs the Valeton gp 200 reg version
I have the Helix rack and HX stomp, the HX gets most of the Helix sounds and so portable for fly rig situations.
The valeton is another wannabe clone out there, maybe a flash in the pan, here today, gone tamale.
Hi, thank you so much for sharing!
