Thank you Bonnie! I already made the tree of life afghan a few years back - I went to make it again and forgot how to turn with the rev sc - 😊👍. Your awesome! 👏👏👏
This looks really nice. I had never seen it worked in the front loops only and then back down the other way in the back loop only. I think it gives it a very pretty look. Thanks for sharing!
This is super useful! I couldn't quite get it just with the book but the video helped me a lot! Thank you! I'm looking forward to making a really nice celtic afghan for my good friend!
Yeah! This is a challenging stitch for even the most seasoned crocheters. Kind of like riding a bike...hard at first, but once you get it, you've got it!
Hi Ms. Bonnie, you make this look so easy! Mine is not coming out anything like the demo. Need more practice!! Thanks for putting this video on UA-cam. Shalom
Hey there +Glenn K. ! For some reason this stitch seems to be more difficult for seasoned crocheters than for beginners. Here's a suggestion: when crocheting this stitch from left to right, try to NOT manipulate the strands in any way, but instead let them fall where they may. I think if you practice it this way on a small swatch you will see what I mean. Hope this is helpful! Grace, Bonnie
I have been crocheting for well over 50 years and like you say this stitch is hard to understand, In fact I have been working on it all day and still dont understand. SO FRUSTRATING!!
😊 Thank you so much! My pattern required this as the last touch. I didn't know what a reverse SC was until I watched your mosaic square throw. So I popped over to this video to look closely at it!!! Again, thank you!!!
I'm not getting this yet. How is it that after you grab the first loop, you're pulling through and coming out with two loops on the hook? I'm trying to mimic all your moves, but when I pull through that first time in one movement like you do, I come out with just one loop on the hook. I have to kind of stop half way through pulling through and push up between threads to get two loops on the hook and neither way looks right. I think this may be where I'm messing up, but it's the one part of what you're doing that is never shown clearly on the video.
You begin with one loop already on the hook (your yarn supply), after reaching below and pulling another loop up you should have two. Then you yarn over and pull through two loops. This is a pretty tricky stitch. It is the same procedure for making a single crochet with the twist of going the opposite direction.
I've figured it out! I kept thinking your right thumb was in the way, then I realized you were using your right thumb to hold that loop on the hook. Those are the little things that you don't even realize you're doing once you're really good at doing it.
Anyone that reads this. HELP!! I have tried this stitch over and over and all I get is a SC going in a different direction. Is there a special I should hold the yarn or does it matter if I enter the stitch in a downward or upper motion? Thanks for any help!

I am having the exact same problem. I am letting the stitches fall naturally, not trying to twist or pull them in any way but all I am getting is a SC. It's not the twirly look that you're supposed to get. Cannot figure out what I am doing wrong. :(
Ok I slowed the video down to .25 the speed and watched the motions over and over and saw what I was doing wrong. It's not exactly a SC only worked the opposite way. You have to twist the hook once to the right AFTER you draw up the first loop, before you yarn over and pull through both loops. Then it gets that twisty look. The way she does it, it naturally twists but for the life of me I cannot do it the same way. I am having to just twist my hook to the right once, and then it twists the way hers' is twisting. I know that sounds confusing but that's the best way I can describe it.
I'm turning the hook only to get to the next loop on the right. Granted, this is definitely a more awkward maneuver than crocheting in the normal direction.
Can’t do it🥲🥲🥲 and I’m not that new crocheting. It’s not clear after you go under the front loop… you have 2 in the crochet, then grab yarn and I get lost where you go with that. I’m stuck for one hour and a half.
This stitch seems to be more difficult for seasoned crocheters Maria. I know it is a pain to work, but once you can do it it yields a beautiful texture. Here's an updated video on this stitch: ua-cam.com/video/_60zHX1clDM/v-deo.html
@@mariajara6791 yay!! Yes, walking away for a bit does help the brain to process new things. We often forget how hard new things can be to learn, especially when they involve new muscle memory in our hands. Guitar chords are a constant reminder for me!
So sorry to hear that! This is indeed a challenging stitch and is more for intermediate crocheters. For the record, I do know experienced crocheters who could not manage this stitch but needed to substitute another. Working in the opposite direction on anything is never easy. Perhaps you can try again in a few months. Wishing you the very best!
Thank you! I have a bunch of beautiful variegated yarns and would love to make a cowl using knurl stitch for my son.. and you had made it possible~ ❤️
That cowl sounds lovely Jacquee!
Thank you so much. You rock. Keep up the great tutorials!

Thank you, Bonnie. ♡

I’m making your blanket..🥲I’ll have to replace this stitch. Not clear where you go with the yarn you grab… what loop does it go through??
Here's another view of this stitch: ua-cam.com/video/_60zHX1clDM/v-deo.html
If you are doing the knurl stitch to finish off a blanket, do you go through both loops?
Yes you do and this makes a lovely border!
