I once bought a 78 Town Coupe for $500 (late 80s) put several hundred into mechanical issues. Body and interior were fine. Unfortunate health issues caused me to decide to sell rather than invest more. Have often regretted that decision. Both of these are monuments to OTT Luxury. If possible I would prefer the one with velvet seats. Currently have beautiful low mileage 2007 Town Car Signature Limited. Last gasp of traditional American Luxury sedans. I will not let this one get away! LINCOLN, What a Luxury CAR should be and once was!
Oh too bad to hear that.
AND NO LONGER IS 😥
What a great pair! Museum quality... I remember being at a Lincoln dealership as a kid sitting in Town Cars and loving them then! Even at a young age I knew that someday these cars will be collectible! Thanks for the memories!
You were correct John!
Love these Town Cars..You'd be rollin' in style no matter how old they are. TRUE American Luxury cars..Over the top style, beauty & CLASS!!. Thanks for posting!
Yes Sir!
You have two GEMS!!!! Forget the price…. They are BOTH a dream car! You’ll sell both in a heartbeat!
Thanks! The low mile one is sold and the 30k car is on Bring a Trailer now.
Beautiful! I wish they'd made a Diamond Jubilee version of the Town Car as they did with the Collectors' Series for BOTH the Mark V and Town Car.
Now that would have been a great idea!
Yes, exactly, couldn't agree more with DJ on the Town Car. Why didn't Ford make a DJ for the Town Car?? Maybe someone whom reads this knows this question? Ford also made a DJ edition for the T-Bird but only in DJ Blue . Imagine a 78 T-Bird in DJ gold! and why did Ford only offer DJ Blue for the T-bird?? Maybe someone knows the answer to both?? Thank you.
Would love to hear that answer too! @@kevincostello3856
Lincolns are nice but I like the Chrysler/Imperial in the background!
Thanks! It is a really nice 78 New Yorker!
Last year for the C-body.
Beautiful job on the freshen up on the Lincoln!!! I love both of them. The New Yorker in the background looks amazing too!
Thanks! And the New Yorker is pretty sweet too!
My great aunt and uncle each bought their 79 Lincoln’s brand new. His was the same color as your that your showing, and hers was burgundy. They were beautiful cars, and I so hoped to buy my aunts car, but they wouldn’t sell to me because I was a relative. He sold his when my aunt bought a new Cadillac in 1988, because she got tired of stopping on her. I always said it was because she never drove outside of a few miles each week in town. He sold his and kept hers. When finally they had passed they were gone forever with less than twenty thousand miles on them, and the sad thing to me was that both were wrecked immediately after selling them to different owners. If I had the cash I’d buy the 36,000 mile car in a heartbeat as it a gorgeous car! Thanks for showing the difference.
Oh no!! Wonder what being a relative had to do with not selling the car to you?? Too bad

Sometimes, relatives don't rent houses/apts to each other, either. Bad business for Family. Something happens, they're relatives...😫 Just forget the headaches! 😉

Thanks for this visit to the Land of the Giants! Two Town Cars, a 60s Cadillac and a 70s Chrysler all in one place! 😮 🏆
Yeah that is a lot of metal in one place!
I remember in 2000 seeing a gray one from 1979 for $10,000. It had new paint on it and was in nice shape. I forgot what the mileage was but the interior was immaculate.
Oh nice and such great cars!
Buy 'em both!.. 😉👍
There you go!
Makes me wish I still had my 1979 Aqua Green Town Car with 3/4 vinyl roof & leather interior!
Great cars!
You get THE nicest looking cars. Amazing.
Thank you!
I have a '79 two Door 'Town Coupe' that I bought in 1996, and drove 120.000 Miles since. A Dream! Was my Daily Driver for 10+ yrs. Only Minor Issues, dripping Oil, Electric etc.. 400 cui. Stock.
NICE! They can all drip a little something
That New Yorker with the St.Regis vinyl roof looks gorgeous also.
Oh man it is!! That is sold and heading to California!
It's the Chrysler in the back I am curious about. I saw it in the background of another video too.
Hey Tom! It is a 78 New Yorker Brougham! It has 25,000 miles with all original paint! I should be doing a detailed video soon! I do have ONE client that I promised first right of refusal. If he passes, the plan is to get it live on BAT. I appreciate it!
Sweet '72 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser station wagon in the background, it's been a long time since I've seen one of those - love those glass panels in the roof.
Thanks!
Two stunning automobiles! I'd be happy to have either one but I do like the colors of the 1k mile car a bit better...
I have to agree with you!
What a great presentation! Thanks!!
Why thank you!
Bro your car screams 1970s. It's a luxo barge, a detroitosaurus. That crushed velour was meant to be sat on while wearing bellbottom pants and a plaid polyester leisure suit with a tie wide enough to double as an airplane wing. It couldn't be more 1970s if it had a lava lamp on the dashboard and a disco ball for a hood ornament. I love it.
Lol! You are absolutely correct!
Looks like the body shop forgot to replace the pinstripes down the side when they repainted the 36,000 mile car.
Yeah, I should have done that! Good catch!
ohhh man....just soooo much beauty in both those Lincolns...someday.....sigh.....
Yes Sir!
DREAM CAR in a dream color! ❤ I prefer the 36k one for the velour seats!
Oh nice!
If i had the funds and storage space i would buy both, one as a collectors car
and the other so that i could enjoy what these cars were designed for, to be driven.
I am more fussy than most buyers and always want a mint low milage sample
but just to leave it sitting in storage seems such a waste.
I am not surprised that Sergio bought the best one.
That makes sense, I'd like to have both too!
Now that's a GREAT video Bill. Sweet that you have two very comparable Lincolns in house to do that. Both the same year, similar colourway and neither is high mileage. Hmmmm.... The question you pose is very personal. I'm a sucker for a virtually brand new classic (1000m car), but I have to go with my heart too - I prefer the Lincoln with the crushed velour interior (nobody cane me for saying that please...). Leather is great, but I find luxury velour a step up in comfort and luxury. I also prefer the richer darker vinyl top of the lower cost one. I still wouldn't put any miles on it though... @ 30,000 miles, she's still a garage queen mostly. I have a 10,000 mile Mercedes CLK that is in a museum right now, so at heart I'm a museum quality low-mile/km car guy 👍
Nice and you have valid points!
Those are the most beautiful cars that I've ever saw!!
Thanks!
Those cars are so beautiful
Thank you!
Do you have a video showcasing that NewYorker? Sure looks nice with that cool blue paint.Makes me want to get my Imperial running again.Great pair of town cars.
Good morning! Not yet but it is on the list of to do's!!! Thanks!
I like the New Yorker Brougham in the back. I had one of those around 1982. The Lincolns are really nice, but the Chryslers are a lot more drivable than the Lincoln and much less costly to own.
Thanks!! That car should be ready to show soon! I appreciate it!
Well Said. Understood. Now let’s go Cruise . . .
Oh yeah!!!
Man, they both look sweet !!!
Seriously, there is purpose for both here.
Indeed!
Great explanation, and great video!
Thank you!
As previously mentioned, a REAL Cadillac, a Chrysler, TWO Town Cars. Also GITGO and AMOCO signs! All are now unfortunately Gone With the Wind 😢. Gee Our Old LaSalle ran great! Those WERE the Days!
Yeah I know it........
Send me two of the lesser priced ones, your right both look great
You got it! lol
You have the best site and dealership! Personally, I'm going to drive either one, so I would rather have the leather guts, and original paint. The other could use a different color vinyl roof.....black maybe? My Mom drove Lincolns, (one even saved her life...a Black Diamond 76 Mark IV). I picked it out while she was on vacation, at Century in Greenville, SC
Wow, I appreciate that! You are welcome to come down anytime! And we went with the closest color available to what the original top would have come with. Thanks!!
Very informative video. Beautiful sedans, but way too big by today's standards. I couldn't afford to feed these gas guzzlers. I love how you placed the Imperial behind the Lincolns, or was just a coincidence? My guess is that the Lincolns were parked on either side of the Imperial and one of them next to the nearly hidden Cadillac.
Glad you enjoyed it! I think it was coincidence! lol
both beautiful. I prefer to drive mine so would go for higher mileage. But waiting to see the vid on that gorgeous NY in the background first
Coming soon! And I appreciate it!
Sergio must have a really HUGE garage.
Bigger the better! Lol
On the repaint: do they remove all the trim? Do they sand it down to metal? Did they clear coat it? It seems like a repaint and a new top would be a big job on a car like that.
Yeah it was a big job! Luckily I got fair deals on both services. The paint is base/clear and they took much of the car apart. And no not sanded to metal as it was only painted due to nicks, scratches and faded paint. Car sat outside for a period of time.
Nice side by side
Thanks!
I’ve been seeing the Chrysler in the background on several videos; wondering what the story is about it.
Hey! So many people asking about it! lol! It is a 78 New Yorker Brougham with 25,000 miles! REALLY nice and original car, and I will get a video of it soon! Thanks!
Classic cars are something that everytime you see it, you just want to drive it, love it, enjoy it and create tons of memory with that car.
I hate it when rich ppl just buy the classics and park it into the garage and hardly ever takes it out on road, that not what it is built for until and unless it's a super rare piece of history.
Yeah I get that, but I have to say these cars are pretty much like Art, and art is meant to be pleasing to the eye as well!
They get preserved for future generations, instead of possibly wrecked and ruined.
@@jamesrecknor6752 True
I would go for the cheaper one mainly because it has cloth interior and no sunroof!
Not a bad choice!
@@christianbugatticg I should say! If only i had the garage space...
Did Sergio win a lottery or something? He doesn't seem like a normally wealthy guy.
I don't know about the lottery but I do know he is a hard working man who earned everything he has gotten.
I had a vinyl top replaced on my 75 Granada in 85 with Lincoln Material because they no longer made the same texture as was on my Ford. Cost $150, what's the going rate today? Also, I did the removal, so that cost was eliminated.
$150??? WOW! I paid over $1000 for this top! lol
I would take either one.
Me too!
NOW LIVE ON BRING A TRAILER!! bringatrailer.com/listing/1979-lincoln-continental-town-car-9/
It’s better to collect them, because at $5 a gallon you can’t afford to drive them. You are lucky to get 200 miles on a 25 gallon tank
That is probably right!
Hi Bill, I sent an email to your Competiton Cars site, asking for referral / contact info to your Trim Shop Vinyl Guy .I also have a late model 76 Towncar that is in need of vinyl top replacement. Mine is the 1/2 vinyl, padded Coachroof: Please advise, I live in the Atlanta area, not far from the Carolinas.
Good morning! I saw it and answered this morning! You will be pleased with them! Good luck and let me know!
I would take the 36k. The doors both sound the same, vault like.
For daily driving, 100%
It's worth the amount someone is going to pay
Very true!
What does the New Yorker or Imperial cost?
Sold it for right at $30k
@@christianbugatticg Just watched that video...Pablo Escobar...🤣
How much for the Town Coupe ?
It sold of 18k and some change.
How does 79 Town car full vinyl top plus moonroof triple black velour
Not sure what you are asking. Is that what you are looking for? Thanks!
Both beautiful, but I'd take the cheaper one with the velour interior. This way if the A/C breaks, I won't stick to the leather and I'll have the funds to repair it. Ha Ha.
LOL!! Thinking ahead I see!
Always@@christianbugatticg
Thanks! @@tomb7382
the other is worth a dream.
Pretty much
What did they cost new?
Depending on options, about 16ish
In 1979 you could have got one for roughly 17K. In 1970 Lincoln Continental was $7,000. By 1974 the Mark 4 was $10,000.
OMG OMG, how about that Chrysler
That sold and went to California. Thanks!!!
Both are beautiful, but neither is the car for me. The mileage is too low. On cars that age i would prefer to see mileage anywhere between 100,000 and 150,000. I like to drive my old cars. If i lived somewhere with no winters i would gladly daily drive a hig old boat. Then again, because of the mileage and the way I would use it there are mechanical changes I would make to improve performance and fuel economy both. There is great potential for both in one of these cars.
Thanks and that makes sense!
ROAD TRIP???????!!!!!!!
YES!!!
Pine stripe🤷♂️
Yeah easy add on
This makes a Tesla look DISGUSTING
Right, lol
I don;'t consider this generation of Continental collectible at all....Huge bumpers, opera windows, velour - all minuses. Just big old car in nice condition.
I mean you'd be surprised! Many of my Lincolns have sold for big numbers to real collectors. Thanks!
@@christianbugatticg💯,Exactly
I like the Chrysler better I would never pay a lot of money for any late 70 s Lincoln with the lame 400 engine
No problem! New Yorker is sold too
All 3 gorgeous cars, nice Imperial in the background
Thanks!
