I like how the VOX even made its voice heard all the way to Xen, a completely different dimension. Nihilanth must be so confused that he's not the only one with a telepathic voice
Starting with the scientist on the platform and then cutting back to him gone is actually the most perfect scene and really sums up the amount of screaming and horror that is happening just off screen
@@SuperCatfire You are wrong. MarphitimusBlackimus said he used AI to clone the voices. Probably he used some software like RVC. Just read the full video description to confirm that.
To think, a lot of black mesa's personel last songs were all star before clocking into work considering the song was released right around the time this game is set, along with other gems from the year 2000
I commented first on the full cover (link in the pinned comment) but I'll say it again just in case: I've been working with VOX for the past 7 years and I've collected a lot of phrases, lyrics and words that are not present in the VOX folder of the game. I refrain from using AI so everything is done by hand and if my collection of songs can aid to build a stronger VOX model I'd be a very happy (free)man.
I imagine they just got a voice actor/employee to record a bunch of words, then slapped a filter over it. Why would they go through the effort of finding a good actual tts, if they're just gonna use prerecorded words anyway?
@@nixel1324 Possibly. It's been debated though not only if VOX was done with an actual voice actor or a TTS program but if a vocoder was used or not as well.
Something like this happening would even fit in the game, though. To suit the theme of a total breakdown. Except maybe have it sing "Daisy" like HAL9000.
VOX, I admire you showing off your newly-developed/discovered singing abilities, which are excellent, but don't you think this really isn't the right time, with aliens & chaos everywhere? That aside, great job Marph! I'd love to know what AI voice program/site/bot you used, it sounds _amazing._

Question: do you know if the Half-Life VOX is based off any existing model? And if so which one it was?
At least one user on r/HalfLife tried tracking down the source of VOX's voice, with little success.
