Office 'Complex'? Gordon is a highly trained professional, he actually finds it quite simple.
BYEE 💀💀💀 this comment got me DEAD
Simply terrifying
How many children are you a dad of
Office simple
you beat me to it, goddamn it
Love how Gordon was only willing to say his name. Its crazy how well the voice fits
look up The Freeman Chronicles, it's short live action HL1 stuff but really well made, that's what this was inspired by (and where the voice was from)
Not even "Stop, there's a turret!"
In episode 2, when an elevator with people is about to fall, Gordon screams "No!" as it does so. I think he has a crush on that blonde girl judging from the sighting in episode 1.
hes the silent protagonist
@@freemanwithoutthephd639 Damn, that's one hell of a reference
I love how human he is. He was just some scientist a moment before, now he is in literally hell where his friends are getting killed one by one by creatures he has no idea existed before and horrors one cannot imagine
yeah and he has to go through with killing his friends too in the form of Headcrab zombies
i like how you made the HEV suit feel "clunky" like an actual space suit
I'd like to see a remix version where he moves at Gordon's in-game walk speed of 22 miles per hour 😂
It's less dramatic but of course a properly protecting suit would be covering his head and face

I love how you made Gordon look beat up, tired, scared and soaked in dirt from head to toe. That was exactly how I imagined he would look after all the shit he went through! This series is an absolute dream come true as a long time Half Life fan 🙏🏻
Omg same im loving this series! I love the voice he was given too!!!
He looks simultaneously rugged and clumsy. That's quite a balance to strike.
Ms Vance... You wouldn't NNEEEEEDD all this to imprison... Gordon.... Freeman.
He even resembles his box art. The sweat makes him shiny.
Yeah but... he didnt even encounter a H.E.C.U soldier yet... if he is this dirty/tired now, i wonder how he would look like near the end.
I am very pleased with how you decided to have Gordon pause to hesitate and/or think before every action he took. This made things more tense. Every move he made seemed more methodical and deliberate as a result of this.
He is but a man after all

literally the only criticism i have of this is the voice acting for the guard but then the voice acting for freeman was flawless and made up for it. amazing work as usual
its from a live action series called The Freeman Chronicles
@@freemanwithoutthephd639 all of the voicing?

I thot all voices were from the Black Mesa game
Holy shit this was really good. People often forget that Gordon's not some action hero, he's a physicist in a hazard suit surviving through almost impossible odds. The subtle way he started walking quicker towards the doors after hopping over the first exposed wiring, the jump scare in the vents, hell even the very brief one-liner of his name are all super in-character. Excellent job!
he is but a man indeed, well said
Hes the wrong man, in the right place
The odds really aren't almost impossible even in lore given how broken the HEV suit is.
firing that 357 in a vent would blow your ear drums out, but im not complaining.
In Zen there were others in HEV suits that got wasted. The suit recognizes weapons and tracks ammunition. They knew about the creatures on the other side and some surely were battle trained.
Favourite bit was him deactivating the gun turret. I really got a sense of how nerve-wracking that’d be. The original sound effects, like the clanging of the crowbar, are blended in nicely as well. Great job.
Fantastic direction and cinematography. Well done. Loved the scene with the Guard at the end.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I absolutely love this model of Freeman. This episode was so elegantly detailed. A job well done brother. Waiting for the next one.
Thank you very much!
You don’t get nearly enough credit for all the work you put into these. Keep it up man.
I appreciate that! Thank you
Very nice! I like how bulky the suit looks and how that's reflected in Gordon's movement. It's realistic. The slender skin-tightness of how the HEV is usually portrayed really doesn't lend itself well to the reality of armor.
Your headcrabs are terrifying, well done
They were terrifying to me over 20 years ago so i tried to keep it that way 😃
11:40 absolutely love the Freeman Chronicles reference and audio, Great work as always
There's a reference at 3:24 as well
There an opposing force reference as well i hope you noticed 😉
Oh cool. I thought it's an in-game reference. I was quite disappointed cause I thought I forgot something in-game, because I LOVE this game. It's an iconic game!
@@Animux.Studios I will watch this again to notice it.
It's just unbelievable that this insane amount of work was done by just one man. It feels like this was done by a studio or something. Truly impressive! Looking forward to the next episode. Good luck man.
Wow, thank you!
Run. Think. Shoot. Live. It’s as though each scene encompasses the core gameplay of the original Half-Life. The quality has been increasing and I’m excited to see more.
After watching this animation, in this style, i could totally imagine a fully fledged movie, where you hear Gordons thoughts in most of the settings, when he is not interacting with other allies.
Like in Sherlock Holmes Gordon calculates everything in milliseconds foreseeing all the consequences of every action based on deep knowledge in physics and then turns into a cold killing machine eliminating every threat. He is completely silent because he is doing it all the time in his mind and emotional relations enfeeble his intellectual potential.
Freeman's Mind pretty much fits that description. Not a movie, of course, just a machinima. But probably the next best thing...assuming you don't mind the narrative of Gordon's mind being more of a dark action/comedy rather than a tense thriller, as was portrayed here. I'd love to see an actual Half-Life feature film, but I'd also be nervous as hell that it would turn out to be shit! 😅
I only recently went through the HL games for the first time (finished Episode 2, 2 nights ago now). I found the longer I inhabited the HEV suit, the more and more amazed I became at the world I found myself in. As a lifelong diehard Halo fan, I can say that Half-Life is now easily tied for my favorite sci-fi universe.
I've never played a game quite like HL1 in such that it let me PERFECTLY put myself in Gordon's shoes - or, like I said earlier - inhabit the HEV suit. I was Gordon, and Gordon was me, there was no distinction. I'm really not sure how to round this one out, but for as little time as I've spent with this 26 year old franchise - I love Half-Life and you're an absolute legend for allowing us to re-experience Gordon's journey in such a cool way. I absolutely can't wait to see this finished. Keep up the amazing work my friend! 🔥🧡
Who needs a Half Life movie when we are blessed with this amazing series. Keep up the awesome work Animux. 👍🏼
Thank you it means a lot
IDO ! but this will do for now lol
I have always wanted a live action or animated Half-Life. This fills that wish and I hope one day it will get to Roll FIN? at the end. I would love to see the events as seen through Adrian's experiences as well.
Gordon's real superpower is being able to keep his glasses on at all times.
I feel when gordon gets to the we got hoatiles chapter and meets the US Marines. Their probably be evident conflict among the marines who believe they have to follow their orders to kill everyone accept Gordon, and the ones who believe this is wrong.
I get the notification and i get an unstopable impulse to click it
The way you had his eyes posed in the opening was stellar. Really conveying that “wtf just happened” energy
So Freeman has a voice after all these years😅. Glad to hear him
To bad he couldn't use it to worn his colleague before he stepped into gunfire. Freeman's a jerk lol

This is really fantastic, Gordon feels so much more human. And also from the third person knowing what is coming but not being able to do anything makes the jump scares worse 😂
He is but a man after all
Dang this is HIGH effort. Love it! Great work.
hi greenskull
I can see the Creator was having fun playing lethal company while making this animation, I could hear two or three sound effects right from it
Please keep these up they are beyond fantastic
Thank you so much
This feels well made on so many levels, I love that Gordon is careful and takes time before each decision he makes. Well done, keep em coming.
Cant believe I've been living under a fucking rock not knowing this exist, my friend i know how painful it is to animate in 3d and at this length while keeping the quality consistent and i salute for that, half-life have been my favorite game of all time and it makes me happy seeing stuff like this, i wish i could throw some money your way because you definitely deserve it but it's practically impossible to send money internationally where i live, again thanks for making this and kudos for the good work you've done
Your kind words are enough thank you so much
Gordon wouldn't waste his bullets on glass and/or the monsters that are already dead.
Maybe later... But not at first. You think he's experienced for that sort of thing at the beginning of his life? It was pretty intense situation back there. Being alone for so much time and trying to figure out all by yourself... makes you a bit of edge, don't you think?
after months of development, it DEFINITELY was worth the wait
i like how this video reminds that gordon is a human being just like everyone else. He struggles, fumbles, gets panic, and all he ever wanted is to survive.
This project shall be the Astartes of Half Life community
Thank you ❤
I love two things especially about it
a) how Gordon runs away before he's able to learn that the military is coming
b) how terrifying you made the vents to be
Really solid job. The things I'm not sold on are the character models and voice acting for security guards, but I think it's still cool!
Another incredibly well made chapter.
I'm really enjoying the facial expressiveness of Gordon, especially the headcrab at 3:08. Just adds another dimension
Listen, Animux. Your Half-life serial project is, like, the only one that is so... Beautiful. You need to continue it, because, I think, all of your effort worth the result. We will continue to believe in you and... We will support you. Always.
Also, Hi from Russian fans of Half-life. Keep it on!
Bravo on the voice for Gordon. I was skeptical , I knew he would have to talk and you nailed it.
Thank you
Gordon's voice was accutaly taken from the half-life fanmade live action series: the freeman chronicles
This is so amazing, seeing Gordon from an outside perspective, rather than “being him” really makes you feel how alone he is and how difficult it was to survive
please, never stop until the end of HL1 at the very least. it's clear you have a passion with every episode of this retelling and it shows in how you portray gordon as a mostly silent protagonist.
only one line from this scared, scarred scientist trying to survive. and it's to a random co-worker we can bet he's never met until this moment forced them to cross paths in this hellish moment of Half Life history no thanks to how huge Black Mesa is. it's not even cheesy, it's simply stating the facts, as if using the question the guard asks him about his name, to reassure himself he's still Gordon Freeman.
we all know how the story ends. but Gordon isn't *the one Free Man* yet. and it shows in the voicework.
Thank you for the feedback ❤
Like how Gordon beard changing a little, giving what he look like in Half Life 2
Such a nice touch in it.
I especially appreciated the facial expression on Gordon. A combination of fear, alertness, and focus. Combine with the sweat and blood it really made you feel like this was a man that had survived a true disaster and was only getting warmed up.
Your cinematography on this is astounding, great use of your angles and framing. Love how you've managed to make use of the lighting to convey such suspense and uneasiness. Gordons behavior in this is spot on with someone whose capable but scared, confused and just trying to get from point A to B
For a one-(free)-man project, this is incredible! I am impressed, and simply inspired!
Thank you
This is rad.
I can’t believe you got me with Headcrab Jumpscare. I almost yelled out loud at work while on break😅
The headcrab jumpscare was on point tho. My favourite episode so far, keep going
The only criticism I have, is the voice acting for the gaurd, apart from that, this shit is flawless, great job man
I have no words to describe how much I love this
the shot at 1:39 is absolutely perfect - almost looks real. excellent work!
She says ammunition depleted and you give her that look ... THIS IS ART!
What a great way to start a new year. Thank you
YESSSS!!! I've been waiting for this since you talked about it. Seriously been enjoying you putting this story together just on your own and not just the big moments from the game too. It's downright impressive!
thank you s much
Damn the new walking animations is waayyy better than before! Perfect job right here..
I can see this becoming a full fledged series! 😂 Please don't cancel this!
Will do my best
I propose an idea in the blast pit during the battle over the tentacles using a thermo-burning generator on top of the tentacles, after turning on all the necessary components - oxygen and and some gases or mixtures, Gordon, approaching the final combustion, Gordon approaches the aisle where the tentacles continue to knock where the sound source is, the blast pit 3 track turns on, but then the music stops at the beginning of "whoosh" and the frame rate showing where Gordon is preparing to turn on the main button from the generator faster until the tentacles do not crushed is turned down, and then simultaneously turns on the moment the blast pit 3 music starts after the start of "whoosh" and the frame rate returns back to normal, and an epic scene with music is shown, where Gordon was almost crushed by a tentacle, but he still goes to victory, and when he turns to the control panel, the final sad part of the music of blast pit 3, you know, must be equalized with the beginning of the frame where he burns tentacles, then there is a sound where he makes heart-rending tentacles sounds during burning, and during mute if the guard completely approaches him except the blast pit 3 music itself, which will soon end, while simultaneously showing Gordon's cold-blooded calm angry expression, even if he is at a high temperature distance, and then the camera shows how the tentacles burn down, but now in the following frames from a short distance it is necessary to show behind Gordon's back who is watching from a distance how the tentacles are burned, and at the same time the last touching part of the blast pit 3 track ends at the same time where another camera shows far from the control panel at the bottom of the hole itself after the burning is completed. I propose this idea so that it looks at the same time epic, cool, but at the same time touching, sad and with mistakes where Gordon almost crashes the tentacle in some cases. Thank you if you read it, I hope this idea will be clear to you and you will turn this idea into the best shots that will be remembered by almost the entire UA-cam who know about Black Mesa.
Black Mesa.
Thank for your commitment any proposition is appreciated. Noted and put into consideration

Came across your work today and watched all three episodes and I must say you totally captured the atmosphere of what it was to play Half-life for the first time. The immersion and the tension of not knowing that would be around the next corner.

the balls you have to add Gordon a voice. And it's a voice that really works for him. It's amazing. This is a fantastic work
I'm glad you back
This is absolutely fantastic and unbelievably impressive. It’s like a breaking bad episode but half-life. Keep doing what y’all do, for real!
This is so well made and excatcly what I'd imagine a Half Life movie to look like
Thank u so much. such a legendary video
You're absolute welcome!
Amazing, great work. The only giveaway that it isn't 'real' is the eyes. It's always the eyes. But everything else seems so solid and tangible. It's incredible really. I've watched computing and graphics go from simple line drawings to such splendor as this over the decades and it makes me proud to have been able to see it happen. Same with audio recording. I had always wished for a 'recording studio in a box' for years before the DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) came along making my life so much easier. This video is fantastic in so many ways to me. Thank you.
Always a pleasure
This is excellent man, and you can see the improvement over the three videos. Cinematography, atmosphere, animation, sound...really looking forward to seeing this progress.
6:20 Ah I was waiting for that in the last episode! Yanking the vent out with the crowbar
This is the fruition, and beginning of the Half Life film, I always imagined. Thank you, and please continue your superb work.
Amazing way to start the new year! I love the attention to detail and camera work. How Gordon methodically makes his way through obstacles. Keep it up!
Thank you very much!
Amazing work! I'm so glad you're doing this. Only thing I have a "problem" with is voice acting of Security Guard. But I think that a lot of people (including me) would help out even for free with voice acting, because you are the only one who does this and you do it really really good. I'm so proud to be Half-Life fan and you are one of the reasons why I'm glad to be one. Keep up the good work friend. I'm proud of you.
From the thumbnail I legit thought this was a live action film
7:12 bro wasted 3 magnum bullets for one head crab 💀
These kinds of fan projects can usually look quite scuffed, no matter how much I wouldn't say it due to the effort and time that went into them; this on the other hand looks amazing.
I feel like it's obvious you're using clever camerawork to take the load off animating some things but that's completely understandable, and you more than make up for it with a great design for Gordon and the look he has, good cinematography, pacing and none of the animations looked too stiff in any way.
I would totally watch a full-length film like this; you knocked it out of the park.
Thank you so much this means a lot
i wish the zombies used the half life 2 sounds, because they sounded more in pain, because the person controlled is still alive, and Gordon should probably be more frightened by them, or atleast unsettled, they are his collegues, he was out drinking coffee with most of them yesterday and now he has to kill them or watch them get eaten inside out by an alien parasite it would take a toll on most peoples mind.
Overall its a good animation, i love the atmosphere.
Naaah, they sounded like pretty too humane. I'd always prefer HL1 zombie sounds than hl2. They're supposed to be dead, remember? The host is just the shell for the headcrabs to control. If there's any human form left, then why the transformation to be completed?
Your movies are amasing. Can't believe this is done all by yourself. Nice work !
This serie is a trully masterpiece. I love the animation and the background design and the physix. a little bit of jumpscare too. also the voice fit very well (I thought he can't talk at all ). also the feeling express make it more better. absolutely this movie worth being played on the big screen. not episode 3 yet it is currently in the making
I'm always delighted to see you're still working on stuff.
You have a very unique way of portraying the series as very grounded and human, letting Gordon be an actual person going through this shit.
thank you so much
I've beaten HL1 so many times that I immediately remembered the electrified water room from this area. Great work capturing the game likeness.
This was great! I'm glad the voice works with Gordon, feels fitting that he only said his name.
