I have seen a LOT of people ask about using this method with BRACES! Please do NOT take that risk! If the plastic gets tangled in your braces and cools/hardens, it will be VERY difficult to remove because it requires more heat than is safe for your mouth in order to become pliable again! I get that I can't really stop people from trying it, so I'd say if you can't resist the urge, please make sure they don't form on or above your braces. They will be very short, and will have to be held on with denture glue (or another non-toxic adhesive). BE SAFE FRIENDS!!! Dont give yourself an extra dentist visit!!!
I've done something similar to teeth protectors/mouth guards in the past. ( I have braces and asked my orthodontist if he could give me a glow in the dark version or something spooky for Halloween) It's the ones you wear if you grind your teeth when you sleep, I bought the fangs from something similar to party city and my orthodontist helped me to glue them on with something non-toxic. You could probably form them directly on the mouth guard if you use thermoplastic.
I actually did this when I had braces and my mom had to use my curling iron to get them off. now I can laugh about it but it really hurt to get them off. so take it from the girl with that experience just wait until your braces are out you would save yourself from burs in your mouth and a new appointment with the orthodontist to fix your braces
I have natural fangs and im often called a vampire or werewolf. It kinda sucks though because if i bite my cheek it hurts like hell. Also its indimadating if you smile big enough.
Just a baby tip in case it helps anyone - when I wear fangs to cons I bring a spare contact lens case to pop them in when I pause for food/drink, otherwise I'm such a clumsy butt I'd lose them 😂

@MAKYRA ALDERDYCE I personally am able to drink through a straw and a glass directly but if you have TINY like a majority of these i don't recommend it. You have to be very conscious of where they are in your mouth at all times. I usually brace my tongue on them when swallowing whatever cold drink I have. NEVER drink hot liquids and do not eat with them.

To DARKEN the plastic to match your teeth (since most teeth aren't perfect white) you can "dye" them with coffee or tea! You just have to soak them un hot coffee or tea for a while and check on them.

yeah so i actually tried it with braces two years ago and it got stuck on the thread... and you won't believe me but i had to go to the dentist in i think it was 10 minutes so i was sweating and crying... i had to tell my mom so she could help. it was sooooo awardddd. i was like "ehhhh mom... uhhh... so i got plastic stuck in my braces." you can imagine the look on her face hahahaha. long story short after a lot of crying, stressing and cutting i got it out with scissors. so please don't do it and just wait till you have no braces hahahah take it from me.

Okay, so I have braces and I haven't been able to find something usable for fangs at all. But awhile ago I saw someone using their braces wax to make fangs! I tried it out and it actually works pretty well! (Hope this helps someone) just shape the wax into a triangle in your hand then places it around the tooth, continue to shape it until you like the outcome!
so i actually tried this, and it works pretty alright! the only drawback is that the wax bends and molds really easily, so if you use it for bottom ones or really any ones, they can slip around or break off pretty easily. and (at least, if you have the kind i do) the wax is pretty clear, so it won't look very realistic especially in good lighting. but if you have braces, this will work really well!

Most of the Kirishima cosplays I’ve seen do the bridge thing so it’s one solid piece, but I saw one who ( if I under stood correctly) basically attached fake nails to thermal plastic to make hers.
I dont because I form them really well to the shape of my tooth (and they flex slightly to fit over). I dont like to wear them very long, and take them out to talk and eat, so I dont like to glue them (I'm just careful). But you definitely can!

If you look up these thermoplastics there, you'll see most people actually use it for fake teeth too, and reviews may suggest types of glues, and amazon will probably recommend products to go with it. You can also ask your dentist! Sorry I dont have a brand recommendation, the idea of gluing things to my teeth freaks me out LOL
I know I'm a little late, but you can use denture glue if your scared they will fall out, or want to wear them longer. Denture is safe for your mouth- just make sure you get a non-flavored kind because the others are pretty gross.
What tips do you have to keep them from falling out, I have a hard time also when shaping them, The top falls forward when I’m working on the point of said tooth
I have the same problem! I find that it helps a bit to not melt the plastic in water but with a hairdryer or a heat gun. It also helped me to make sure my teeth was dry before I tried to make the teeth
Doing this for my daughter and here to say in 2024, you are not alone lol. We are struggling to get these to stick to her teeth. I’ll have her dry her teeth some more the next time we try again lol
What helps for me is taking them out while they are still warm and pushing the part that goes around your teeth together so they have a tighter fit around your teeth.
Looking at a mouth from the side your incisors are your first 2 teeth. Your canines are the 3rd. Fangs are usually on canines and the close ones you did are the only ones on your outer incisors. The bridge for example completely covers your incisors. Nosferatu is famous for his long pointy first incisors!

I just made my first fangs and I am in LOVE! I've tried loads of other tutorials but none of them worked, i now know thermoplastic is the solution! Had a bit difficulties with forming them quickly enough at first but after a few tries i now have to beautiful fangs that fit my teeth perfectly. Next time I'll try to make double fangs for the canines and the incisor next to it. Thank you so much for this great tutorial!

Ok few questions 1) what scissors do u use to cut off excess? I tried my normal ones and it was a bit of a struggle and left the edges sharp 2) do u tend to keep the pairs or replace for next use? 3) if you wanted to reuse the plastic beads how would u go about cleansing it after you’ve taken it out of your mouth to go back in the pot?
Really late comment: If you had to be specific, how many beads would you need to make one entire fang? Just wanna know so I don't either add too much or too little.
Double fang project for a Sollux Captor cosplay. Thankfully with this method I don't even need to practice a lisp. /The fangs do it for me. The other methods Ive seen don't create a lisp like these do. Thank you!

Lost in Sunshine they just go over your tooth/teeth like a retainer or a crown. it just pops right off. the material is very flexible even after it’s hardened completely, so it can bend on and off your teeth

Step 1: Take a straw Step 2: cut the straw at an angle on both ends Step 3: stick the two end pieces on your teeth. (Not recommend for children who have a tendency to choke on things)

Oh nononono please don't use this method if you have braces. You WILL NOT get the plastic off of your teeth. It won't bend enough and even if you manage to break the plastic apart you might still have pieces stuck in your braces. I'm sorry I don't have any alternative methods to offer you, I just got very concerned 😅 maybe google fake fangs with braces??

For Braces! : I tried using this with braces wax (the kind the orthodontist gives to you) with out heating! I just mould it!

1) what scissors do u use to cut off excess? I tried my normal ones and it was a bit of a struggle and left the edges sharp
2) do u tend to keep the pairs or replace for next use?
3) if you wanted to reuse the plastic beads how would u go about cleansing it after you’ve taken it out of your mouth to go back in the pot?

If you had to be specific, how many beads would you need to make one entire fang? Just wanna know so I don't either add too much or too little.

Double fang project for a Sollux Captor cosplay. Thankfully with this method I don't even need to practice a lisp. /The fangs do it for me. The other methods Ive seen don't create a lisp like these do. Thank you!

What would you recommend for someone who doesn’t have perfect white teeth? I’m just worried they’ll look too white and everyone will notice the yellowness. Is there a safe paint I could use?

Lost in Sunshine they just go over your tooth/teeth like a retainer or a crown. it just pops right off. the material is very flexible even after it’s hardened completely, so it can bend on and off your teeth
You let it cool mostly in you mouth but take it out before it cools completely so it’s easier to cut

This'll be really helpful when I start cosplaying, though I'll probably make 'childproof' ones because I'm a bit self-conscious about my teeth and that'll cover them up. ^^;; Those types do give a more 'anime smile' look, though, since the characters are rarely drawn with really defined teeth.

Step 1: Take a straw
Step 2: cut the straw at an angle on both ends
Step 3: stick the two end pieces on your teeth.
(Not recommend for children who have a tendency to choke on things)
@Samantha Mendoza You just put them on inbetween your teeth, I had a tedency to do that with fast food straws as a child so I can say 100% that they stick if you get them inbetween your teeth enough

Oh nononono please don't use this method if you have braces. You WILL NOT get the plastic off of your teeth. It won't bend enough and even if you manage to break the plastic apart you might still have pieces stuck in your braces. I'm sorry I don't have any alternative methods to offer you, I just got very concerned 😅 maybe google fake fangs with braces??

Maybe try a bit of a yellow-ish tooth enamel and just blot it off after each coat until it stains it to the right color

Use tooth enamel idd :) kryolan has a good one, in the color nicotine. Just water it down a bit or wipe off excess, otherwise it will be too yellow
What if you try use a little amount of food colouring while kneading that?? Is the colour stick on it??
