    "Accept primary" command was the curicial point to teach. Other videos that i have seen so far didnt tell that. Thanks for that! Great video.

    This tutorial is perfect. Other tutorials don't really explain properly about applying the preferred option or the whole selection process. I am a recent subscriber and I am finding these invaluable. Thanks so much. 👍

    Will this technique work for varying wall heights as the options to be changed?

    is it possible to plot all design options in a single sheet---like a massing diagram for example?

    Who does it work with groups? because i have alot of repeation in the facade design wall and windows. My workflow is "i am lazy". So as minimal for maximal. Its seems with groups is not working. This could be handy for renovation projects.

    Good sir how to create a ridge capping for a roof

    • @8020BIM
      @8020BIM  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Vishanand. Roof capping can be done in a number of ways. If it is one continuous element you could use a model in place family with an extrusion / sweep depending on the shape of the roof. You may also get away with a roof by extrusion with a buildup equal to the capping thickness if you required. If you are doing individual tiles for example, you could just create an independent generic model family of a ridge tile and array it down the length of the roof. There are many ways to approach this so it really depends on your roof construction and shape to best define the modelling method.

    Niall. Have you done any tutorials since this was put out that expands on this topic? For example, what other criteria (dimensional etc) can be covered in design options?

  • @carlheintz4170
    @carlheintz4170 2 роки тому

    Thanks. Btw, I am working with design options now and I understand it is useful to show the highlighted pieces for the options but I would like that the main model is not greyed out. Do you know how I make so that they the main model looks the same regardless if I have an option A or B put?

  • @charlesball9522
    @charlesball9522 3 роки тому

    Could you explain in what scenario you might need a second "Option Set"? Thanks again.

    • @8020BIM
      @8020BIM  3 роки тому +2

      Hi again Charles,
      You may need a second / third option set of there are other parts of the building are also subject to design options. For example, you could have a theoretical "extension A" where you have two design options within the first option set. Elsewhere on the building footprint you could have another extension, "Extension B" where you could have two design options within the second option set. Finally, you could have an internal retrofit, "Area C" which is subject to multiple design options, held within option set 3.
      Apologies if this is a convoluted explanation but thought it best to run through a hypothetical example.
      Let me know if you have any other queries at all Charles.

      @@8020BIM I removed it. It was a question about annotating the different options. When I dimensioned one, the units were correct, when I did the other it was different. Then I immediately realized it was set to a different style. Which is weird, since I didn't change it.
