I drive for uber eats for over a year. I have received my 2nd notice "final" notice of having my account deactivated due to uber app malfunctioning and not getting connectivity. I know this is an older post, but I'm glad I found you. I just started driving for Uber three days ago. Wow! I'm older, educated, and have plenty of customer service experience, so I had a general idea of what I was getting into. I went to your site, read your "about" section, and what struck me is that you are real and down to earth. Just what we need! Thanks, Rideshare Guy. :)

+The Rideshare Guy Excellent video. Ive been using this MagicMount dashboard mount. There is a magnetic plate you put in your cell phone case and tape to back of phone. It works great, never falls off.
You are right when you say pax follow the app to see where you are and cancel when you take longer. 3 times yesterday, I was at a location where I could not make a uturn, as soon as I had to go the whole block to navigate to their location, the time changed to 3 minute from one minute and they cancel. What an impatient society we live in and how frustrating to be cancelled on for an extra 2 minutes. We have no control over that and it brings our rating down for cancellation. I am already frustrated one month into driving for Uber.

you should do video Fair adjustment. For example if take a passenger from one state to the next which is also one hour way and you only received $20dollar something is wrong. you should pulled into an to a park lots and send Uber a email tell them adjust your fair. I also recommend doing it as soon as possible do not wait.
Some great tips for sure, I am an Uber customer and have decided to take the plunge and become a driver. I have a full time job already, but figured why not make a few extra bucks on the side since I have plenty of time before and after work.
Rideshare Guy--thank you! I am just getting started with uber so I will be watching your vids to keep me on top of things as I start driving! BTW-- I am a former OTR trucker so I really appreciate a fellow "driver" who knows shares their knowledge. Thanks again! #alleyesonyou
I am just about to start driving for uber and lyft. After looking at all the phone mount reviews on amazon I finally went with the iOttie Easy One Touch for $25. It seems really well made. This is not an ad!
Just wanted to say that I'm really impressed with your channel and your site! (I bounced here from SF Gate after reading an article that mentioned and linked to your site.) I think your delivery is great here in your videos and I like your writing style. Hope you're doing really well with your video course! Looks like there's need for it. Anyway, I have no skin in this game at all, having never needed a rideshare, and am only reading and listening out of curiosity. It's a sign of skill and talent when you can capture someone's attention about a topic they have no real, personal need for knowing more about! (Although I may learn a thing or two from you about making better UA-cam videos.) - All the best, Allen
thanks for the video. I just started a week ago and I did manage to find and insurance company that covers RIDE SHARING DRIVERS. They are called ERIE INSURANCE. They are not in every state though so you would have to just talk to them and see if they are covering drivers where you live.
+BADSTINGTV Nice! Yea Erie is a great company and they are actually one of the insurers that we recommend. Here's a full list of rideshare friendly insurance carriers by state if interested: therideshareguy.com/rideshare-insurance-options-for-drivers/
I am thinking of driving but I have the Kenu cradle for my phone and it attaches to the vent and not windshield (those are annoying); it's amazing and you can watch a UA-cam video on the Kenu cell phone cradle to see what it is. Thanks for the video, I really think I will give this a try and come back and let you know how it goes.
+Gilbert Arciniega Thanks, I really do think it's important for drivers to take rides as pax to learn about what it's like. Luckily, I do it for you guys though :)
You sure? I have a lot! haha But if so, shoot me an e-mail and I'll send you some RSG swag as a small thx for the support! (harry at therideshareguy.com)
Uber does not want you to know this! Drive time to pickup 5 minutes Averages wait time for rider 4 Ride fare duration 6:25 minutes Total time spent on one trip 15:25 Combined miles drive on this fare = 5 miles Trip fare paid to you $2.40 Your average pay per hour = $9.60 Now take the $9.60 subtract fuel, wear and tear on vehicle, sale tax, now you are making less than $6.13 an hour!
There are lots of drivers who earn more and lots of strategies you can use to lower things like wait time/etc: therideshareguy.com/how-to-make-28hr-as-an-uber-driver-in-san-diego/
I have been only driving for 2 days downtown. Sadly there isn't much money in it. People want to take 3 dollar trips that take 15 minutes to get to. Sure it adds up but so does gas, and maintenance. And that 3 dollars isn't taking into consideration the taxes that you got to put aside.
My husband was down town and spotted this guy coming out of a bar looking at his cell phone. My husban got a ping and it was the guy coming out of the bar. He pulled up and the guy looks up from his phone then back at his phone with a look of suprise. He said the bartender set up the ap. Said it wont take long for a car to show up. He said it was less then 10 seconds lol.
Here is something that I have struggled with so far. I drive to my "hotspot" where I get all LUX or LUX SUV riders. It is about 25 miles from my home. Then one of the riders takes me about 25 miles away. I have a hard time deciding whether to drive right back to my hot spot with an empty car or work the new area I end up in which rarely works out. What are your thoughts?
Love your video thanks for sharing. I have a question about accessories and gps apps, I don't work with Lyft at the moment only Uber, can you advise a good gps app that you use or you think taxi drivers should use, and accessories to hold the phone or tablet. Thanks.
Sorry if I'm repeating a question that was probably answered. My friend told me to be careful when picking people up. Uber will only cover the person who requested the ride if in a car accident Unless Uber pool. So on my first driving experience I was deceived. Meaning when I got to the destination the person was out there alone. Once I pulled up and confirmed passenger, he called over his two other buddies that just came running into the car. Now because it was my first experience I didn't want to say anything. How and what do I when this happens? I am a very positive person but hate to be involved in something that could have been avoided.
Great advice, thank you. I have a quick question - do Uber drivers get paid for the miles and time they put in to pick up a rider? Or do they only get paid for the miles once they pick up the rider? It seems to me that it would be ridiculous to drive 20 miles to pick up a rider who wants to be dropped off a few blocks away. That would pay about $5 but cost you time and gas...
Only the miles/time after you pick up a rider which is why it's important to minimize the ETA's or even consider canceling on pax who are too far away.
Oh wow. I didn't know that. So, what distance in general is too far? Over 10 minutes? 20 minutes? I am a new driver who has already signed up as a driver in Los Angeles. Thanks again...
Biggest problem with Uber is only about half of your riders actually rate the trip. This led to a handful of bad pax pulling my ratings down hard. This doesn't happen with Lyft.
Hey buddy, love the channel. Question...I have had on several occasions a POOL signal come up while giving a ride. The passenger tells me don't answer cause I'm in a hurry? What should I do? It counts against my score, right? How much do I get paid and how does that work?
Steve Guerra Thanks bud. Wow, that's pretty unreasonable request by the first Pool pax - I would personally stop the car and kick them out haha but that's just me :) It will hurt your acceptance rate if you don't accept so my advice would be to accept and then cancel/do not charge rider or my preferred choice would be to accept and then explain to pax #1 about the acceptance ratings, etc and how you can't not accept otherwise it hurts your score, etc - i might also send an email to uber about the first pax in case they rate you low, you can maybe get uber to adjust it :)
I signed up a month ago and still haven't gotten my BGC. I have been also watching a lot of videos about uber. And watching these vids is atucally making me feel like I shouldn't even start driving. One I disagree with this rating thing. I am a safe driver. If I get you to your destination you should be happy. Its like in Asia the cabs there are nice cars. And that's what uber is to me. a nice car taxi. Iv read that some people eat n drink or eve smoke in your car. That is very rude. That is someones car not a car they rent out. and if you want to make money you have to do night drives, is what I figured out. I aint dealing with drunk ppl
due to Google and waze apps not being as reliable with their updates. maps tend to give very bad routes that are wrong or even make a driver seem like they are trying to cheat a customer. mounts are great for safty yet terrible to keep adjusting the routes such as alternate routes Google suggests as you drive. keeping phone on hand or crotch is sometimes necessary to quickly look and change. .. this is one of the reasons a driver may not want to use a phone mount.
+stealthassulter Huh? The maps auto adjust if you go off route so not sure what you mean. You really shouldn't be messing with the phone/touching it while moving anyways...
The Rideshare Guy I agree, I been driving Uber since Nov 2016. I still have a 5.0 rating...but I have a phone mount, dash cam, clean car, bottled water and a big basket of snacks (candy, cakes, chips)....and the most important thing that stands out is my interaction with my riders. I drive at night...so I primarily provide service to people going to and from the bar...so good so far! I make awesome tips..the most I've been tipped was 20.00 from a customer...but the majority of my tips are 5.00-10.00 majority of my rides consistently! God Bless!
+The Rideshare Guy i have a question im currently using uber as a customer and i started to realize that my rating is very bad its 3.8 and im a very respectful passenger i almost only use uber black i dont make my driver wait for me im waiting 5 minutes for them i dont eat demand for music/ charger/ tissue/ i just come in say hello and go out and i juat cant see why i only have a 3.8 star rating
+The Rideshare Guy also another factor in my area there are basically 2 kind of people driving Chinese and arabs and when i go with the Chinese i always see my rating go up and when i go with an arab name guy it goes down at first i thought it might been a coincidence but after completing 100 trips with uber i saw that the arab/muslim driver gives you a low rating so what i started to do is when i see my driver is gonna be arab kind of name i cancel it and if i see Chinese name like tong ming fu i know its a Chinese
the reason why some people dont have a phone holder is because is some cities uber is still ilegal and if you drop off someone for example at the airport the people that work there are cracking down on uber drivers they call the police they arrest you and get your car impounded. Having a phone holder is a dead give away to drop off locations like this. Maybe you werent aware of that.
+Raymond Siu I'm aware of that, but there are plenty of people that have a phone holder who don't drive for Lyft/Uber. It's also very easy to just move your phone and holder below the dash. Trust me as a pax, this is a huge safety issue. Watch this video: miami.cbslocal.com/2015/11/19/miami-woman-sues-lyft-over-husbands-death/
I believe these cars qualify for both, but be sure to check the requirements in your local market as they sometimes vary between locations. I wouldn't recommend buying one of these just to drive for Uber though. The demand on XL and Select is a lot lower than on X - only upgrade if you're planning on doing so regardless! Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe GMC Yukon XL Infiniti QX56, QX80 Lexus LX Lincoln MKT, Navigator, Navigator L Mercedes-Benz GL-Class
I drive in Oxford MS and occasionally I get a request to take a passenger that takes me to Memphis TN. How do I add Memphis to my account so I can accept rides while I am in Memphis?
Going by the comments, it seems the people that think driving for Uber is a career are the one's saying how they "rip you off". I was always under the impression Uber, for most, is a part-time gig you do on the side to make some extra cash. Or something to do in between jobs so you're not completely draining your bank account. Could be wrong, but that's just me
I have a question, you pick up a fare. I start the trip, they say pull over I want to order wings,so thats a 25 minute wait. Do you get paid to sit and wait for the food to be made? How do you handle this.
+paul patane You get paid for waiting but at a much lower rate, google 'uber your city' to see the rates per mile/min. If it's slow I'd wait but if not, you could always let them know you don't make any money waiting so they should request a ride once their order is ready.
One issue I'm curious about is sexual harassment from male fares--especially late night fares. My looks shouldn't prevent me from driving when I want and receiving appropriate reviews. I am a successful business owner who has chosen to work with Rideshare services on the side for fun and extra money. I am a lifestyle consultant and coach and am very experienced in customer service. I am a college educated adult whose first language is English. I offer water, a travel garbage bag, mints, gum, a phone charger and a brand new car, yet I've been left poor reviews by men who have been very inappropriate who I've had to respectfully and kindly draw boundaries with. I ask passengers whether the temperature is okay and what their musical preferences are. Most passengers leave me good feedback and good reviews, but I'm concerned that if this sexual harassment continues, my driving record may take a hit.
Damn that is frustrating and definitely unfair. Female drivers definitely face some unique challenges and I think you have to understand that going into things. But you're right, some male pax can just be douche bags, so maybe just 1 star them and move on. This article may also help: therideshareguy.com/why-rideshare-driving-is-like-being-the-captain-of-your-own-ship/ therideshareguy.com/rsg025-whats-it-like-to-be-a-female-uber-driver-with-tiffany-hudson-stroup/
Someone told me there are vehicle hierarchies with Uber (like a person driving an SUV gets a higher rate than a driver using a Honda); is this true? If so, how would I know in what category Uber has my vehicle (which COULD be viewed as an SUV)? Also, how are fares computed? Thanks!
urkoolUncle Yes there are, the best way is to browse your Uber market's local website: therideshareguy.com/ubersupport Fares: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1cJkSQnDy5HtuAxWdYh52zYquIfd6jKWEodKlUwiCiAg/edit#gid=0
+AlexMercersRevenge That's fine - I don't do it on Uber anymore but have them for my Lyft pax since it often leads to tips. Def not required to be a top rated driver though.
That you do not understand that a bottle of water is a tax deduction that is really your stupidity being in your way. Tips are easy to earn really, with a 20ct bottle of water you get a couple usd in return plus you can deduct it. You're a thief of your own wallet...
+Craigs List They're new so the payouts haven't been great so far but I do think the idea is really cool and obviously has the potential to really benefit drivers down the road.
The number 1 advice is something you never hear anywhere. Number 1 advice, don't use an iPhone, it's a disaster, either to your earnings, your ratings or both. Use Android. Number 2 piece of advice, develop a written strategy. don't be afraid of typing your strategy into a computer document and reviewing it and modifying it. After every ride, ask yourself was it good or bad. Did I follow strategy properly, if not why not. Your strategy should include what to do before the pickup what to do and SAY at the pickup, what to say at different points in the journey, and most importantly what to say at the drop. I have a selection of things to say and I vary only according to the type of passenger. Take control of the conversation right at the start, learn how the right humour (UK spelling) always guarantees no rating less that 5. Number 3 advice, if there is anything unusual about the pickup, you have been warned, protect yourself from a ride you would rather not have had, know when to opt out.
just learned of a scam some scumbags are using. I learned the hard way but fortunately it only cost me a 1 rating and 3 bucks Pick up a passenger. Upon starting the ride I find no destination put in. I request her to enter the destination she says its just up the road I'll give you the directions. I ask for the address she claims it is her father's home she is visiting and doesn't know it. I drive her there drop her off end the ride rate her and go my way. I few days later I notice my pay statement was low by a few dollars. I find out why. This is what Uber sent me Hi Richard, Thanks for the response. Glad to assist! Upon checking here, your trip last 6/11/2016 at 9:05p EDT with trip ID ab089f1c-cff5-47c9-9973-0b36d0aba3b3 have been refunded since your rider contacted us and claimed that you left them. The agent who assisted her adjusted the fare so this is the reason why there has been a change in your payment statement. We appreciate your time writing to us and if there's anything else, just let us know. Kindest, Mark help.uber.com I also noticed my rating drop from a 4.86 to a 4.85
That's pretty shady, I'd report the rider/your side of the story and see what Uber says. This is one of the reasons why having a dash cam could come in handy :) therideshareguy.com/the-most-epic-dashcam-review-for-rideshare-drivers-ever/
have a dash cam but it looped over it since uber didn't notify me first i found out was when i got the email with weekly pay . uber reissued my money. but the 1 bomb still stands personally i feel the rider should be deactivated
Having a dashcam may help but do you see all the bs you put up with driving for Uber and they don't reimburse you. I had the same thing happen to me only this biotch did have an address but when I got there she said it was the wrong address and that she would show me where it is. Uber never paid me for this and I told them the pax entered the wrong address and then had me take her somewhere else. They don't care. Uber should provide the dashcam. They expect you to buy all this stuff and never pay you back.-vehicle inspection, give the pax water, gum, phone charger etc. shit their riding in a clean air-conditioned nice car with music they like or I like and that's all they're getting.
How does your car insurance work? Are you covered while commercially running with a client in the car? I have AAA and they do not insure UBER drivers during the ride of a passenger. Having a difficult time finding commercial insurance to cover taxi type personal vehicle coverage.
+Robyn Blair, Realtor Insurance is a tricky issue/situation but in short you're covered when en route to a pax (period 2) or with a pax (period 3). Uber's coverage is lower though when you're waiting/driving around looking for a request and they provide no collision: therideshareguy.com/rideshare-insurance-options-for-drivers/
+The Rideshare Guy Thank you. I did the research after I got excited about getting my car inspected and taking 2 riders out. I got to thinking about what I was actually doing. My insurance company will cancel me and my house and other vehicles if I am a RIDESHARE DRIVER. So after 2 days of trying to find an insurance company that will assume RIDESHARE policies and finding 1 that would work with me, it is best for my situation to NOT be an UBER PARTNER. I'm sad, but will find something else to do with my time. Could not find any insurance company willing to write a RIDESHARE policy for LYFT drivers. I learned a lot! I can't afford to be sued:)
I've been driving for Uber for about 6 weeks and I cannot for the life on me get the Google Maps voice turn-by-turn directions to work. I found my 10 year old Garmin and use it but doesn't know all of the new streets. Uber support says simply click on the speaker icon on the screen, but there is no speaker icon on my HTC phone. I make sure the Unmute button is not activated, my speaker volumes are at the max, still no luck. Any advice?
Yea I do. It's not cheap but it is super flexible and there's unlimited mileage. So if you value those two things, you gotta pay a little more for it :) therideshareguy.com/category/xchange-leasing/
a have a question, nothing to this video. I am a Uber driver (first day actually). I would like to have the rider app or how can I do it? sometimes my husband and I like to go out and we prefer to take a taxi. I download the rider app but when I put my number, the told me that is all ready register that number. what can I do? thanks
You should be able to sign into the rider app using your driver account info and password. You'll probably need to add a credit card or paypal in the payment method section before you'll be able to ride. If it's saying you already registered but won't let you log in, try going to "forgot password" and resetting your password. Hope this helps!
wanted to ask I know uber has an app that is turn by turn wanted to know there is a voice that comes through as well right? as it is showing you turn by turn the voice is telling you turn by turn....example.............in one mile turn right then when you get closer it will say turn right. just want to make sure it would work this was....because I don't want to keep looking at my phone by turn by turn only....need to hear a voice telling me turn by turn..............can anyone answer this question

Good point, yea that was how it was for a while here in the US but things eventually cooled down.

Very good video and advice. Logical and practical.
uber should have name of top drive in each state on the app and at end of year the top ten driver will receive a gas card for year and free oil change and one time car detail.
that'd be cool.
And risk their entire business model by treating “independent contractors” like employees.
I get compliments on my service because I offer riders water, chargers for all phones, access to change auto environment such as heat and a/c. I also ask if the radio station is okay or if they want to listen to what they have on their phone, and I offer wifi (hotspot).
Best advice to new drivers - Don't fall for scams!
Solid advice... Very helpful. Great job.
thx!
A) I LOVE my CLUTCHit! (my smartphone versatile mount)
B) Become a CUSTOMER first. GREAT Advice!
Yep, very sound advise, many thanks to The Rideshare Guy. I'm a new Uber driver.
As a newer Urber driver this video helped me out so much.
good info thanks... bty tested all kinds of holders and ended just with my phone Velcro to edge of radio no vibration at all and can stick it or pull away at any time with ease and keep it charged all the time and still fits in my belt case when I am done...
+Frank C that'll work, I like it!
I got a citation for not having liability insurance, and another one for not having a medkit, and a fire extinguisher. Thanks for the vid, Rideshare guy!
+abeismain Hmm which city are you in? I know there are a few with very stringent requirements - not typical of most uberx cities though.
I appreciate your work
Some Great Tips ! Enlightning ! Thanks RSG!
you should do video Fair adjustment. For example if take a passenger from one state to the next which is also one hour way and you only received $20dollar something is wrong. you should pulled into an to a park lots and send Uber a email tell them adjust your fair. I also recommend doing it as soon as possible do not wait.
Mounts for me are more distracting than having the phone close to me, rather than having to reach for it etc.
Thank you. Great tips.
Thank You soooo Much, needed the information ...
I would say do some research online about the pros and cons of Uber driving.
Some great tips for sure, I am an Uber customer and have decided to take the plunge and become a driver. I have a full time job already, but figured why not make a few extra bucks on the side since I have plenty of time before and after work.
+Jose Montano (illipino) Nice, yea can't hurt to at least give it a shot :)
+A. Craig Patterson Awesome, what made you switch from trucking to driving for Uber?
I am just about to start driving for uber and lyft. After looking at all the phone mount reviews on amazon I finally went with the iOttie Easy One Touch for $25. It seems really well made. This is not an ad!
+StratMatt777 Nice, that seems like a good one too and thx I believe ya! Good reviews on amazon too: amzn.to/1SW2rfi
Just wanted to say that I'm really impressed with your channel and your site! (I bounced here from SF Gate after reading an article that mentioned and linked to your site.)
I think your delivery is great here in your videos and I like your writing style.
(Although I may learn a thing or two from you about making better UA-cam videos.)
- All the best, Allen
Thanks!
very nice video!!
thanks for the video.
Hey thanks!
I am thinking of driving but I have the Kenu cradle for my phone and it attaches to the vent and not windshield (those are annoying); it's amazing and you can watch a UA-cam video on the Kenu cell phone cradle to see what it is. Thanks for the video, I really think I will give this a try and come back and let you know how it goes.
great tip ! thank you !
Good tip. Especially how passengers may rate you. (on the little things we are used to doing)
+Gilbert Arciniega Thanks, I really do think it's important for drivers to take rides as pax to learn about what it's like. Luckily, I do it for you guys though :)
Very helpfully in addition to needing a toll paying device I need a stand as well, thank you!
+Erik P.T. Yup that's also a good one.
This is good stuff... Sort of like sleeping in your guest room before inviting the weekend guests, right? Thanks for this!
bingo ;)
Thanks for the great advice. Newbie in Houston.
Keep up the good work Harry. I think I watched all of your videos
You sure? I have a lot! haha But if so, shoot me an e-mail and I'll send you some RSG swag as a small thx for the support! (harry at therideshareguy.com)
Uber does not want you to know this!
Drive time to pickup 5 minutes
Averages wait time for rider 4
Ride fare duration 6:25 minutes
Total time spent on one trip 15:25
Combined miles drive on this fare = 5 miles
Trip fare paid to you $2.40
Your average pay per hour = $9.60
Now take the $9.60 subtract fuel, wear and tear on vehicle, sale tax, now you are making less than $6.13 an hour!
There are lots of drivers who earn more and lots of strategies you can use to lower things like wait time/etc: therideshareguy.com/how-to-make-28hr-as-an-uber-driver-in-san-diego/
BUT WE DRIVE TONGRT SOMETHING TO EAT OR GO TO GROCERY STORE ETC ETC etc WITHOUT GETTING PAID .So whats your point of pointing out this?
I know this isnt about the subject of the video but your audio is amazing!
+Bozwer Haha thanks - I actually just use the mic on my old LG G3. My podcast audio is a lot better with my Audio Technica USB mic: amzn.to/1WNn3Oe
Yea I'd keep going for a few more weeks but you're not alone: therideshareguy.com/how-to-make-more-money-as-an-uber-and-lyft-driver/
cool video man, Good basic info, i wasnt even thinking about.
+Jason Hawkins thx!
great video you make perfect sense thank you.
You should leave some referral codes down in your comments and the links to all those services you've done :)
Thanks man, good tips!
He said it was less then 10 seconds lol.
impactful video!
thx
Very solid advice
Yes, I agree.
Thanks.
+ysalcedo22 Yea I like the kenu for the mount: therideshareguy.com/kenuairframe
and for gps, I like google maps :)
have you have problems with app such as pickup at the wrong location as well as wrong drop off location
Not sure why he said that - Uber covers all pax while they're in the car: www.uber.com/drive/insurance/
I would say 7-12 mins but it depends if busy/not or surging/not. Know what I mean?
Yes - exactly... Thanks!
what if a rider wants you to wait for them, and then take them to a new destination, how does that work?
+R J TAG Up to you, I'd leave the trip running. You'll still get paid the per minute rate but it's not as high as the per mile rate.
good advice
Great informational video I'm a newb :) in denver :) thanks (Lyft driver)
Lana rael Not a prob, best of luck!
new subscriber here. I like your videos great advice. thank you
Thanks!
thanks and by the way cool video's
need to do video on how to use the different aps hands on as pasanger and driver step by step
We've got a couple great vids on that: therideshareguy.com/how-to-use-the-uber-partner-and-passenger-apps/
Biggest problem with Uber is only about half of your riders actually rate the trip. This led to a handful of bad pax pulling my ratings down hard. This doesn't happen with Lyft.
I seem to always get the same complaint. I don't offer wifi.
Haha really? 99% of Uber drivers don't offer wifi so I think you're ok :) Good way to stand out though if you have it.
1.first piece of advice cherry pick all the calls
+Ahmad Fernandez That's good advice but for more advanced drivers, not new ones.
+The Rideshare Guy What does he mean by cherry pick all the calls?
What is cherry pick???
Hey buddy, love the channel. Question...I have had on several occasions a POOL signal come up while giving a ride. The passenger tells me don't answer cause I'm in a hurry? What should I do? It counts against my score, right? How much do I get paid and how does that work?
Steve Guerra Thanks bud. Wow, that's pretty unreasonable request by the first Pool pax - I would personally stop the car and kick them out haha but that's just me :)
It will hurt your acceptance rate if you don't accept so my advice would be to accept and then cancel/do not charge rider or my preferred choice would be to accept and then explain to pax #1 about the acceptance ratings, etc and how you can't not accept otherwise it hurts your score, etc - i might also send an email to uber about the first pax in case they rate you low, you can maybe get uber to adjust it :)
Steve Guerra
someone choosing pool then telling the driver not to pick someone else up? that's beyond inconsiderate. i cant believe anyone would do that.
Very helpful
+Paris Byrd thx!
I'd say most rides go off without a hitch but it's more fun to write/talk about the ones that didn't :)
due to Google and waze apps not being as reliable with their updates. maps tend to give very bad routes that are wrong or even make a driver seem like they are trying to cheat a customer. mounts are great for safty yet terrible to keep adjusting the routes such as alternate routes Google suggests as you drive. keeping phone on hand or crotch is sometimes necessary to quickly look and change. .. this is one of the reasons a driver may not want to use a phone mount.
+stealthassulter Huh? The maps auto adjust if you go off route so not sure what you mean. You really shouldn't be messing with the phone/touching it while moving anyways...
Got your email regarding doing rides first, are there free rides with Lyft in South Florida? Thanks
when you are driving cheap ass passengers your rating goes down.they never tip include all the race
What do you mean? There are lots of strategies to maintain a high rating: therideshareguy.com/category/ratings/
God Bless!
shat do you call cheap ass passengers
+The Rideshare Guy i have a question im currently using uber as a customer and i started to realize that my rating is very bad its 3.8
and im a very respectful passenger i almost only use uber black i dont make my driver wait for me im waiting 5 minutes for them i dont eat demand for music/ charger/ tissue/ i just come in say hello and go out and i juat cant see why i only have a 3.8 star rating
Hey, how are you? Do you know any cars that are Uber XL and Uber Select together?
I believe these cars qualify for both, but be sure to check the requirements in your local market as they sometimes vary between locations. I wouldn't recommend buying one of these just to drive for Uber though. The demand on XL and Select is a lot lower than on X - only upgrade if you're planning on doing so regardless!
Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV
Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe
GMC Yukon XL
Infiniti QX56, QX80
Lexus LX
Lincoln MKT, Navigator, Navigator L
Mercedes-Benz GL-Class
At 3:08 I swear you said Lyft versus Uber. Am I wrong?
I drive in Oxford MS and occasionally I get a request to take a passenger that takes me to Memphis TN. How do I add Memphis to my account so I can accept rides while I am in Memphis?
You can only do Uber rides within your state :(
Going by the comments, it seems the people that think driving for Uber is a career are the one's saying how they "rip you off".

+The Rideshare Guy it is and I'm not sure what to do about it but accept a deactivation it and when it comes.
You can change their rating if they give you a bad rating and also you get to explain this in the help section. You may have to get a dashcam.
Asp
also try to see if u can establish a clientele 4 youtself like that u can be comfortable with the that u know
what is uber hop ?and will you be rate after you complete the trip?
It's UberX type service in Europe I believe..
Someone told me there are vehicle hierarchies with Uber (like a person driving an SUV gets a higher rate than a driver using a Honda); is this true?
If so, how would I know in what category Uber has my vehicle (which COULD be viewed as an SUV)? Also, how are fares computed?
Thanks!
urkoolUncle Yes there are, the best way is to browse your Uber market's local website: therideshareguy.com/ubersupport
Fares: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1cJkSQnDy5HtuAxWdYh52zYquIfd6jKWEodKlUwiCiAg/edit#gid=0
what do you know about the business registration? ? how this works
+Milton Falcon Still figuring this one out but it seems like drivers are 'supposed' to get this, not sure what the penalty is if you don't though.
As an uber driver I refuse to offer bottled water. I am not their Chauffeur.
+AlexMercersRevenge That's fine - I don't do it on Uber anymore but have them for my Lyft pax since it often leads to tips. Def not required to be a top rated driver though.
I'm happy to do it, it's a tax deduction here
That you do not understand that a bottle of water is a tax deduction that is really your stupidity being in your way. Tips are easy to earn really, with a 20ct bottle of water you get a couple usd in return plus you can deduct it.
You're a thief of your own wallet...
Walmart 35 pack of purified water $3.50
In FL in the heat. having cold water ready for passengers will be a great thing to have.
Michel Linschoten
is a dash cam a must for first time drive4s or can 5hey 2ait till they get paid?
Waiting is fine. They're not required by any means, but they'll definitely help keep you safe on the road, so I do highly recommend them!
I noticed you were on the VUGO homepage. Does that seem to work out pretty good for the customers and for the monthly kickback?
I learned the hard way but fortunately it only cost me a 1 rating and 3 bucks
Pick up a passenger.
This is what Uber sent me
Hi Richard,
Thanks for the response.
Kindest,
Mark
help.uber.com
I also noticed my rating drop from a 4.86 to a 4.85
That's pretty shady, I'd report the rider/your side of the story and see what Uber says. This is one of the reasons why having a dash cam could come in handy :)
therideshareguy.com/the-most-epic-dashcam-review-for-rideshare-drivers-ever/
have a dash cam but it looped over it since uber didn't notify me
first i found out was when i got the email with weekly pay . uber reissued my money. but the 1 bomb still stands
personally i feel the rider should be deactivated
Damn yea they def should.
What do you think of Uber's 180 days of change ? Any idea what else is coming ?
Any advice?
+George Frampton There should be an option in the settings of your google maps to unmute/mute audio directions. Have a tech savvy nephew?
how about leasing options
Sure: therideshareguy.com/uber-vehicle-marketplace/
Hey Harry do is there a referral code for postmates? I want to sign up!!
+Rich Richie Sure you can use my e-mail harry@therideshareguy. com or my direct link: therideshareguy.com/drive/PostmatesNEW
How do you no your way around town with out geting lost?
I recommend learning the top 10 landmarks/restaurants/etc in your city (use Google/yelp/etc) and then practice your navigation/gps.
Do you work for Both Lyft and Uber?
Yes definitely :) therideshareguy.com/how-to-drive-for-uber-and-lyft-at-the-same-time/
The Rideshare Guy Do you still drive or just do the blog and promo codes?
My full time job is running the blog but I still drive from time to time to stay up to date with the app and such and try out new services, etc.
The Rideshare Guy do you feel the Uber Xchange Lease program is a good option?
Yea I do. It's not cheap but it is super flexible and there's unlimited mileage. So if you value those two things, you gotta pay a little more for it :)
therideshareguy.com/category/xchange-leasing/
a have a question, nothing to this video.
They let me log in, then they ask me for my phone number and then, it's says that the number is already register
Who do you contact to see your weekly ratings? I have no idea who to contact about just about anything, actually.
+Kro Lin You get a weekly e-mail from Uber or Lyft. If you need to contact Uber, try support@uber.com
3 to 4 minutes? My very first ride, I had to wait 20 minutes for them to get their act tigether.
+gtracer66 Haha it happens..
Why does Uber allow riders to rate drivers weeks after their ride? That's not fair it only takes ONE to mess up a perfect ratings.
I agree, the ratings system is very flawed!
wanted to ask I know uber has an app that is turn by turn wanted to know there is a voice that comes through as well right? as it is showing you turn by turn the voice is telling you turn by turn....example.............in one mile turn right then when you get closer it will say turn right. just want to make sure it would work this was....because I don't want to keep looking at my phone by turn by turn only....need to hear a voice telling me turn by turn..............can anyone answer this question
+selena miller Yes uber navigation has that, google maps and waze all have that feature :)
