You are correct. Too many people relying solely on Uber as a career. Uber was never meant to be a full time job. It was supposed to be a side hustle people did in their spare time.
The airport charges 5$ per pick up Uber and lift give you 4$ how the hell does that make sense why do people pay to drive for others is this charity or just preset up work so when there is driverless cars they have a political foothold on the market!? Do y’all not see this is what’s happening
At what point did people think that picking up hitchhikers was going to be a career? That used to pay $0. Now the app lets hitchhiker contribute to you offsetting your driving expenses. That is not a job.
No. If that’s the case, the government would not have allowed this app to begin with. It’s “ridesharing”, break that down. You are simply sharing the cost of your ride with another person, basically picking up hitchikers during your drive who are throwing you some gas money to pick them up.
I remember when i first started driving, all pickups were short. Now they be sending you 15 to 20 minutes out talking about pay includes pick up No it doesn't 😂
A lot of what I make goes right back into the gas tank. I need an oil change, rent is due, utilities past due. I worked tonight, did 13 rides made $69 on Lyft. I put $15 in gas just to be able to get home. Tomorrow I will work again.. if I give 8 more rides, I get a bonus. Its the carrot in front of the donkey. Its so hard to get the number of rides done in the time frame to get that bonus. Uber pays more than Lyft, but in order to get get that bonus, I must do 50 rides.. we only have 3 days to get all those done.. its so hard. On Lyft a lady paid $40 for a ride, I got $11.99. She was livid..
This is rideshare. You are getting paid to share your ride with someone. Before rideshare, you got paid $0 to drive, now you are compensated for doing the driving you were previously doing for $0.
Uber and Lyft needs to be prosecuted for fraud. Neither company pays the drivers what they’re to be paid. They steal wages and tips. Driver aren’t independent contractors.
@The Relay Times If it were a business, drivers would 💯 control! That means drivers would control how much they make, the fares, as well as everything else. Yes they’re independent contractors on paper but in real life, no.
Fun fact: Don't turn on the Uber app. "You don't make money, Uber don't make money." And, why should they. We all have to be okay with Uber not making money. This means drive for Uber less or don't drive at all. "If no one is driving, who's the real boss?!" Think about that 🤔 Uber can't steal your money if your not on the app.
@@DixiePokerAce lol come work for me as a contractor, bring your car ill pay you enough to keep the tank full and maybe get lunch but its just a side hustle so its all good. so I got you down for 25 hrs next week.
Total bs from lyft and Uber. I ask all my riders how much they paid. Lyft takes up to 70 percent of the money. They are greedy. Glad drivers are waking up. Gas is back up and they not responding to higher fares. Wait until the drivers quit. It's coming faster than they think. It's only a matter of time before another company comes and treats drivers better and take their bags away forever.
You make about 30-40% less than minimum wage after expenses. So if the minimum wage is $15. You average $10 an hour driving for Uber or Lyft. Or $100 for every 200 miles driven.
Yeah I feel bad for them, they should get paid more and pos corporate needs to take their heads out of the clouds and pay those who actually work and use their own gas and car
Food for thought: I was one of the original for Lyft/Uber in San Francisco. I was making easily $50/hr easily because there weren't many drivers and customers hated using Taxis. At a young age, I was making pretty good money, no benefits and a car that seemed to run forever. Fast forward a few years, more people wanted to be drivers cause of the perks of high pay and freelance work schedule. The more mainstream ridesharing became the more affordable the rides had to become in order to attract more people to use it. This meant more driving with no passengers in the car and less money to around because of how many drivers-to-demand ratios. If you file your taxes properly, you will learn that its not a lot of money to be made esp when you can't see the wear and tear on the car. When my car finally broke down, it was hard for me to finance a new car cause they didn't consider gig workers as a "real job." so I had to rent a car each week which took 25% of my profits. I finally stopped driving during the lockdown. I needed to make the change. My point is these "jobs" are not designed for long term sustainability. The real perk of this job is no accountability and practically no requirement to join aside from having a car and pulse. These companies aren't even profitable, so they won't prioritize drivers since there will always be people who want to make a quick buck for less. Being a gig worker for so long has spoiled me and the transition back to normal sucked! But starting from the bottom and working over a year I'm finally starting to see the light. There are jobs available in most markets but people don't want to do them. Invest in yourself!

Drivers should get 80%. It’s not fair that Uber disrupted taxi & limo business which paid well and now is keeping so much money. It’s not going to be sustainable when these people quit losing money.
As an Uber Eats driver, the only way for us to win is by declining all offers until the compensation is reasonable. And I've noticed that the higher the customer tip, the less compensation they give you. They are pretty much relying on the customer tip to pay you so they can keep all the profits for themselves.
Uber and Lyft are fraudulent organizations who own a monopoly on rideshare industry and taking advantage of americans in an unregulated market. These companies invest in politicians, the only way to bring about change is majority of drivers and all advocacy groups need to draft and support a single bill before congress. Uber and Lyft have the money to lobby politicians, the people have the votes to elect these same politicians, CAPISH??. Pls Note: US market is most profitable for Uber and Lyft, they're not going anywhere.
7ber and Lyft is forcing these people into making these just side gig. Even then it not worth it. The algorithm favor people on all the time. It won't give someone that get on sometimes. And honestly this isn't worth a part time hustle too. This numbers doesn't add up a net positive. Drivers end up eating too much of the cost. Uber and Lyft knows this. STOP USING THIS SERVICE! I would much rather have them lost then I lose my income here.
Focus more on weekly earnings? I've put THOUSANDS of miles a week for your bullshit app and made less than $24/hr. It takes 2m5 gallons and hour to run my car. That's $10/hr to drive. That means I'm making $14/hr before the extra insurance and upkeep. Minimum wage is $15... Now I have a car I can't afford without a second job because I bought it to do Uber. Money was g9od the first year. $31/hr. But (no joke) I make $17/hr on Lyft this week. And that's not counting gas...
Lots of mistakes made there. Who buys a car for Uber? Big mistake. Sell the car, get a job at McDonalds,. You will make way more money than the situation you put yourself in. This is supposed to be rideshare, basically offsetting your costs you were going to pay anyhow for driving someplace alone. By sharing your rides, the other person will help you offset those costs of driving to your destination.
This is not supposed to be a job. Just share your ride to wherever you were going to drive anyhow, that way anything you get is better than driving the alone. Message boards show a lot of the professional drivers are just homeless people, they sleep in their cars, pay for a 24 hour access self storage and a gym membership for showers. So that is the pay scale that is being offered. A person looking to live above those means should not look into sharing their rides as a primary income. This is a homeless level “career”.
Before they stole the taxi company they were good jobs. This is just the beginning of all jobs becoming this way, Wal-Mart replaced by Amazon and soon no jobs . Twitter just laid off 80% . Just wait, lawyers and real-estate, bankers digital currency . doctors replaced by zoom and Chat Gpt will get em
I actually own the 2nd largest house in my neighborhood based on the comps. Bought it in 2019. I do rideshare and that's it. ...plus my pool is 9ft deep instead of 8ft. If this is the level of homeless, I hope you're doing better than me. Lol
This same Greed taken over Uber is coming for the middle classes as well so I would think twice about being soft on these giants while there's still a chance. AI will revolutionize and replace over 50% of the workforce in the coming decade.
After scrolling down the long list of comments, this is the only reasonable comment in the entire thread so far. If the US was a full-blown socialist nation, then quitting wouldn't be much of an option; but since was are still sort of free, people could quit and find a better job (although ride sharing is not a job). Victimhood is very popular.
You can only pay everyone involved from what the rider has paid. If a rider is charged $100 for an airport ride and the driver receives $52, then the remaining $48 is split between the insurance for the ride, the local taxes and fees, the airport flat fee, and Uber.
Yes but there greed never ends, if they could pay you 10 cents an hour and they could get away with it they would do it! Extreme side of capitalism is what will destroy Uber and the United States because every corporation is doing this in one way or another now.
Their insurance is A small percentage of each trip that is taken out of the booking fee... This whole high insurance lie is A more recent excuse Uber has been using to justify taking 70-80% of each fare.
I work for a local car service in NY. I paid them 80 dollar weekly why Uber don’t do the same thing. Uber should charge every driver 80 Dollar weekly. But Uber want all the money. 😂😂
If drivers don't like the low pay, get a new source of income. They're independent contractors. I don't blame drivers not wanting to take those low ball offers but these companies are greedy like it's always been.
Actually that last ride for 17.86 i would take. 5 minute pickup 23 minute drop off. Drop off a little longer than I'd like but what if do after that is take a short trip for like 5 to 10 to kinda boost it if it makes sense. But it has to be a low minute pickup and drop off

Sharing a personal anecdote about quitting a low paying job isn’t helpful or relevant. A major corporation is ruthlessly and possibly illegally exploiting its workers. This is a real problem that requires people standing up and protesting LOUDLY. With bullies like Uber this is the only way to force change. It’s much bigger than one person’s life - these drivers are standing up for the greater good not just worrying about themselves. I applaud them.
It’s a fact that they are price gouging passengers and paying less to drivers so soon we are going to see negotiations between passenger and driver (no Uber) (no lyft) cut the middleman out. You wait and see
how they want fair pay when they are not professional drivers. unlike bus Operators who have special training to be able to operate buses and people. this so cal uber and lyft drivers are nomal regular people with no training or special skills just driving aroung people. even Taxi drivers have some special training.

Pay the drivers
@therelaytimes 😂😂 bruh stop trolling fool.. did uber and lyft hire you or something
I remember when i first started driving, all pickups were short. Now they be sending you 15 to 20 minutes out talking about pay includes pick up
No it doesn't 😂
Totally in support of such strikes! Government and Federal trade comission should really act upon the pricing and safety of the drivers!
Uber doesnt believe their own bs 🤣
Since when Uber started to SCAM it's drivers ? 😅
Year 2021 😢
Lift says, don't focus on your trip fare, focus on your weekly earnings, THIS IS A JOKE!!!
Uber has taken a lot more over the past couple of years.
😮11 dollars for 30 minutes????? That is robbery 😮
Big facts
Uber and Lyft needs to be prosecuted for fraud. Neither company pays the drivers what they’re to be paid. They steal wages and tips. Driver aren’t independent contractors.
@The Relay Times If it were a business, drivers would 💯 control! That means drivers would control how much they make, the fares, as well as everything else. Yes they’re independent contractors on paper but in real life, no.
Here in Charleston the local yellow cab just went out of business after over 65 years in service. Very few option for riders or drivers.
Many people do it for a living
@Malcome Smiith It was never meant to be that way. Uber was supposed to be a side hustle NOT a full time gig to support your family entirely.
@@DixiePokerAce lol come work for me as a contractor, bring your car ill pay you enough to keep the tank full and maybe get lunch but its just a side hustle so its all good. so I got you down for 25 hrs next week.
3 dollars a trip, I will never drive again
Total bs from lyft and Uber. I ask all my riders how much they paid. Lyft takes up to 70 percent of the money. They are greedy. Glad drivers are waking up. Gas is back up and they not responding to higher fares. Wait until the drivers quit. It's coming faster than they think. It's only a matter of time before another company comes and treats drivers better and take their bags away forever.
Good. These companies are greedy. They raise price astronomically during events and certain hours but drivers get pennies? Thats BS
You make about 30-40% less than minimum wage after expenses. So if the minimum wage is $15. You average $10 an hour driving for Uber or Lyft. Or $100 for every 200 miles driven.
Wow they only get $30 of a $150 ride?
10 $4-$6 orders that's 20x or more having to start your car for $40-$60 then you'll get a $4 adjustment
I agree with them a 1000% Uber and Lyft takes too much % like 45% to 60% of fees. They take too much from us. It's hard for all the drivers
Not only lift drivers but Uber delivers!!!
You know a few smart drivers hung around until there was finally a good surge and took it. Lol
When u get a rider uber takes more then half the fair they make more off ur trip then u do its discussing thief’s….they are liars
@@therelaytimeswe see you're on here trolling drivers cause you ain't got no job 😂. Tell yo mama what's up for me, maybe it's time to leave her house and get your own place
those fares are outrageous. ripping off customers. i only do food delivery and they charge customers too much and we only make very little.
Lyft and Uber do this at every event
If my health was 100% like before and I want it to drive for a living I would be a commercial driver and make real money comlare to this chump change uber pays these people have options class A or B license will get you more pay.
Uber/Lyft may be the greediest business ive ever seen. I dont think ive ever felt more insulted by a corp. 🛑🛑🛑🛑
Theyve made Billions by taking advantage of ppl... And they use things like insurance and other cost as the excuse..... They use the law... As their barrier
@@therelaytimes your why we have $4 Gas. And $5 Eggs. = greed and laziness. 👈🛑
Drivers should get 80%. It’s not fair that Uber disrupted taxi & limo business which paid well and now is keeping so much money. It’s not going to be sustainable when these people quit losing money.
@@therelaytimeswe see you got no life. Love trolling trolls like you fool
No tire pressure in tires ?? No oil ?? USE MORE WIG AND NAIL MONEY ON YOUR BUSINESS SO YOU CAN KEEP MAKING MONEY .
😂 I was like dang how you driving with no oil 😮😂
UBER+LYFT PAYING PAYING EVEN WORST IN GTA (GRATER TORONTO AREA) SUPPORT ALL OF YOU FROM MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO CANADA.
Why Ontario haven’t regulated Uber and Lyft
Passengers pay $100. I got $40.
Plus Uber talking bout insurance… it’s our car we pay insurance and repair cost
Lol
Exactly 💯
Lol
If your that upset with Uber quit.
No, If we don't fight it will become the McDonald's of taxis and we refuse for that day to come.
This same Greed taken over Uber is coming for the middle classes as well so I would think twice about being soft on these giants while there's still a chance. AI will revolutionize and replace over 50% of the workforce in the coming decade.
If driving for Uber doesn't pay the bills just go get a real job. Plenty places in New Orleans are hiring.
@@DixiePokerAce Exactly
After scrolling down the long list of comments, this is the only reasonable comment in the entire thread so far. If the US was a full-blown socialist nation, then quitting wouldn't be much of an option; but since was are still sort of free, people could quit and find a better job (although ride sharing is not a job). Victimhood is very popular.
You can only pay everyone involved from what the rider has paid. If a rider is charged $100 for an airport ride and the driver receives $52, then the remaining $48 is split between the insurance for the ride, the local taxes and fees, the airport flat fee, and Uber.
Oh plz... They are getting pay like $4/hr average out as CEO mentioned
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽bs insurance they have bulk insurance they get discounted insurance liars
Uber wanted to pay me $13 for 8 stops in 2 hours.
I work for a local car service in NY. I paid them 80 dollar weekly why Uber don’t do the same thing. Uber should charge every driver 80 Dollar weekly. But Uber want all the money. 😂😂
$30 an “ACTIVE HOUR” which takes “TWO ACTUAL HOURS” to achieve waiting between rides.
19% isn't enough to cover the costs of having a car and make a living and there's also taxes on that 19%.
Too many democrats.
Uber it’s a scam, greedy company
Trying using a bot software on your Uber,it enables you get higher paying orders and good batches
If drivers don't like the low pay, get a new source of income. They're independent contractors. I don't blame drivers not wanting to take those low ball offers but these companies are greedy like it's always been.
If you’re not in New York, Miami, Los Angeles then don’t drive for UBER/Lyft. You won’t make any money.
Actually that last ride for 17.86 i would take. 5 minute pickup 23 minute drop off. Drop off a little longer than I'd like but what if do after that is take a short trip for like 5 to 10 to kinda boost it if it makes sense. But it has to be a low minute pickup and drop off
Yea if it was a regular ride. This is Lyft XL though. Lyft is probably charging $40-60 dollars for ride like this and giving the driver literal crumbs
@@jessicamckenzie6296 oh yeah dang that is a rip off. Lux pays way more. Well should pay more. But if I was the lux driver I still would've taken it hoping for a good tip 😂. But yeah for the gas in those things that ain't nothing though
I was upset at my low pay on my last job, but I knew what the pay was when I took the job. And guess what I did ???? I quit and got a better paying job. No one if forced to work for Uber or Lyft.
You don’t $30 miles. And if you do you put 70 miles on your car. You losing
These gigs are only okay for side hustle !!
Yes. I have a full time job and I deliver food
Alright how can I help you sir ?
Not anymore. It's not worth it
Exactly, if you don't make money driving for Uber go get a real job.
Uber and Lyft require drivers to have their own insurance
NOW YOU FEEL TRUCK DRIVERS.......
It’s a fact that they are price gouging passengers and paying less to drivers so soon we are going to see negotiations between passenger and driver (no Uber) (no lyft) cut the middleman out. You wait and see
It has already started here in South FL the customer ask the driver to cancel and they pay in cash
0:52 "We're no the slave for this company" so what stops you from quitting?
how they want fair pay when they are not professional drivers. unlike bus Operators who have special training to be able to operate buses and people. this so cal uber and lyft drivers are nomal regular people with no training or special skills just driving aroung people. even Taxi drivers have some special training.
Drivers make 19 percent of rider fee???????? Garbage. These numbers don't mean much to non drivers but I ASSURE U THIS SI CRAAAAAPPPP. Fire the ceo's. NOT ALL DRIVERS MAKE 30 AN HOUR. MOST DONT. DONT BE FOOLED
