      @@BringBack2Center There is other ways they rip people off too. I accepted a reservation, for UberX, the rider cancelled the trip 45 minutes prior to the pickup. According to the terms of agreement the rider has to cancel no less than an hour before pick up or they have to pay a percentage of the fair and/or cancellation fee. Uber claimed I wasn't online 40 minutes prior to the pickup (lie) and when you contact driver care they play dumb and ask for all the information, screenshots etc. They are the biggest bunch of scumbags on the planet. Only an idiot rider would pay top much for it. They can always ask a driver to use Cashapp to save money and pay us more than the apps pay us. The ball is in their court.

    They always inflate numbers by saying bullshit like $30 an hour....that is ACTIVE hours not time you are driving TO the passenger and not time you are waiting for rides which is a large chunk of those hours so realistically you are hitting around 20-24 an hour and WITH expenses (because Uber and Lyft provide NO assistance with gas, insurance, or maintenance cost) you are ACTUALLY netting in your pocket around $12-17 an hour (depending on your car model) AND that is WITH COUNTING passenger tips. Imagine without, the numbers were be far more dismal. It is terrible this needs to change.

When you first start driving they trick you with big orders and adjustments... U think uber having to accept all liability for whatever happens on a ride in an autonomous car will keep them profitable? also u think these electric cars are gonna type in a gate code in order to enter these gated communities? there will never be autonomous cars working for uber unless the drivers sign up and allow their own autonomous cars to be used while they sit at home. if a autonomous car gets a flat it will pull over and you will have to go change the tire or retrieve it. a human will drive slowly to the nearest shop, replace the tire and keep working. bottom line is it will never happen.

    On average lyft/uber have increased the price to the passengers by 30% ... AND CUT the drivers by 20% all the while knowing that drivers costs have increased.
    Uber is trying to sell that same old lie about $30 an hour ....
    1. that is before the drivers cost to drive. It's the gross take not the net.
    2. it can be up to $30 an active hour of driving ... meaning only when we have someone in the car we are making $30 ... that does NOT take into account time spent waiting on a ride OR going to pick up a rider ...
    also ... drivers use to be paid a flat $25 for a trip from New Orleans to the Airport ... The passengers were charged $45 ... the Passengers are STILL paying $45 however the drivers are now getting on average $15 ... which means Uber/lyft are keeping $30 out of that $45.

    Food for thought: I was one of the original for Lyft/Uber in San Francisco. I was making easily $50/hr easily because there weren't many drivers and customers hated using Taxis. At a young age, I was making pretty good money, no benefits and a car that seemed to run forever. Fast forward a few years, more people wanted to be drivers cause of the perks of high pay and freelance work schedule. The more mainstream ridesharing became the more affordable the rides had to become in order to attract more people to use it. This meant more driving with no passengers in the car and less money to around because of how many drivers-to-demand ratios. If you file your taxes properly, you will learn that its not a lot of money to be made esp when you can't see the wear and tear on the car. When my car finally broke down, it was hard for me to finance a new car cause they didn't consider gig workers as a "real job." so I had to rent a car each week which took 25% of my profits. I finally stopped driving during the lockdown. I needed to make the change.
    My point is these "jobs" are not designed for long term sustainability. The real perk of this job is no accountability and practically no requirement to join aside from having a car and pulse. These companies aren't even profitable, so they won't prioritize drivers since there will always be people who want to make a quick buck for less.
    Being a gig worker for so long has spoiled me and the transition back to normal sucked! But starting from the bottom and working over a year I'm finally starting to see the light. There are jobs available in most markets but people don't want to do them. Invest in yourself!

      Uber and Lyft are fraudulent organizations who own a monopoly on rideshare industry and taking advantage of americans in an unregulated market. These companies invest in politicians, the only way to bring about change is majority of drivers and all advocacy groups need to draft and support a single bill before congress. Uber and Lyft have the money to lobby politicians, the people have the votes to elect these same politicians, CAPISH??. Pls Note: US market is most profitable for Uber and Lyft, they're not going anywhere.

That means I'm making $14/hr before the extra insurance and upkeep. Minimum wage is $15... Now I have a car I can't afford without a second job because I bought it to do Uber. Lots of mistakes made there. Who buys a car for Uber? Big mistake. Sell the car, get a job at McDonalds,. You will make way more money than the situation you put yourself in. This is supposed to be rideshare, basically offsetting your costs you were going to pay anyhow for driving someplace alone. By sharing your rides, the other person will help you offset those costs of driving to your destination.

  • @zfunk9
    @zfunk9 Рік тому +5

    This is not supposed to be a job. Just share your ride to wherever you were going to drive anyhow, that way anything you get is better than driving the alone. Message boards show a lot of the professional drivers are just homeless people, they sleep in their cars, pay for a 24 hour access self storage and a gym membership for showers. So that is the pay scale that is being offered. A person looking to live above those means should not look into sharing their rides as a primary income. This is a homeless level “career”.
