    I agree although it's a good thing to aim for something like 8,000-10,000 steps a day. Not only for the 400-500 calories burned a day (or 3,500 a week), but walking especially outside has a positive phychological benefit.

      I agree 100%. I can't tell you how much my entire mindset was screwed up when we moved and my morning walks with the new job and location were made next to impossible. I enjoyed the morning walks just to clear my mind and get me ready for the day. Now I would have to put kids to bed two hours earlier, get to bed myself much earlier, and that isn't sustainable. Moving back to my old job soon so hopefully I can get out of this almost depressive mindset I'm in.

      @@mihaeltomasovic That's great that walking helps clear your mind, makes a lot of sense. The reason we find these activities beneficial is because we have a lot of time to ruminate and carry a lot more things in our minds than previous generations as we become overstimulated and most of our necessities have become taken care of ie: food from store, shelter built for us with HVAC, etc.
      So do whatever helps your brain and stress, but Jay's message on movement necessity, being a separate concept, can still stand. Hope that makes sense.

    I was part of this idea myself when I first started the fitness industry. It would work at first you would get some pounds to come off but then of course people with overeat because their hunger hormone. Some people are more gifted and they have to eat more . That's how my son's Body Works but he has a particular body type that functions that way, other clients doesn't matter how much exercise they do the fat can't come off if they're eating and drinking junk food. It is very frustrating as a trainer because the fitness industry keeps pushing this nonsense. I tell my clients hey go ahead and work out because you like biking or running but don't think that you are into outperform you're horrible diet. But thank you for these videos they do help reinforce the concept.

    Awesome video man, I had the same experience I used to follow Steve Reeves full body workout 3 times a week and I was in the gym for 4 hours a week and just got chubby and wanted to eat all the time. Short high intensity workouts make it much easier to stay lean year round and you recover way better as well.

    I’d argue it’s not just too many calories, but the type and quality of the food (I.e. garbage processed shite) messing up peoples metabolic systems. It can mess with insulin and hunger hormones, making you store energy when you should be utilising it, forcing you to eat more to compensate etc.
    If all you ate were clean whole foods (with a bias towards protein) you could eat till your hearts content and eventually lose weight once the damage to your body has been repaired.
    It’s still CICO, but your body will self regulate it once you cut out the garbage.

    Mentzer has a great reasoning on why nobody should be "bulking" aka eating large amount of food for a long period. As muscle building is a slow business and even if you are capable to put on 5kg of muscle (and that is a lot) dividing it with 365 that is 13g of muscle/day
    how much daily calorie your need to put extra every day for 13g? I guess not that much as what we eat. but 13g of protein is 52 calories lets assume you need 5X the calorie to make that amount to grow that is still only 260 calorie a day extra above maintenance, many of us eat way above that

    There's only one way that I know to lose significant fat through physical activity without beating yourself up - and that's to take a multi-week hike in the mountains. In my experience I lose around 2.5 lbs a week unless I take heroic measures to maintain my weight. An alternative might be a long cycling trip. But although this burns fat, it doesn't help you change to a maintainable way of eating once you get back home. Developing a maintainable way of eating modest portions every day for the rest of your life is the real challenge.

  • @thomashilmersen711
    @thomashilmersen711 5 місяців тому +1

    I think there is something missing from this analysis, though. There can be a relationship between physical activity and calorie intake. Think about it this way. If you walk a lot each day and do all kinds of other physical things, you will probably eat less than someone who is just sitting on his coach all day. The latter will be bored and tempted to snack all the time, and since he is at home, he has ready access to his refrigerator. AND what is the point of being in great shape if you are not going to use your body to do fun things, like hiking, swimming, rock climbing, playing sports, etc.?!?

The amount of food too, but realize that the amount of food people eat is also caused by seed oils which make you hungrier, cause metabolic diseases including weight gain, which lead to metabolic more diseases, diabetes, which make you fatter, processed foods are not as satiating, and alcohols compound the problems. I do both HIT for muscle building and cardio for cardio benefits. If you’re training HIT you won’t be able to train more than 2 or 3 times a week. There are health benefits to getting your blood actually pumping and circulating that HIT alone won’t be able to provide. The way I see it is, you get blood flow to whatever muscle you’re using with HIT but cardio will circulate blood for longer throughout your whole body because you can do it much longer than HIT. Helps get rid of a lot of toxins built up in the body too.
