I was at wanaka over Christmas I caught 20-30 fish.I use a lead line 6 colours out (5-6meaters deep) I have the rod tip as close to the water as possible that way all of my line is in the water.I had all my luck on pink and traffic light Tasmanian devil I use the bigger 20 gram ones.thanks for the good Video it is true no one else on UA-cam really talks about the details of what they r doing.I wouldn’t have thought a paravane was necessary with a lead line as you have 2 things doing the same thing but if it works for u 👍
Great to hear what has worked for you! We don’t always use the paravane, but do the majority of the time. We’ve found we can get them down deeper with less line out and typically have more success using them. Like you point out, we all do it slightly differently and it’s great to find what works for you 👍🏼
I also thread my line straight through the lure then a bead then tie onto a single hook I find a single hook really digs deep and the lure is free to slide up the line when the rainbows jump and shake instead of ripping out.I fish along the rock walls really close.I also dropped some mates of at that island with the lake in the top.while they done the walk I trolled around the island I only made it 100m and had the biggest fish of the trip a rainbow.it took me about 2 hours to go around the island because fish kept hoping on my line.I don’t think many ppl fish there they just go to do the walk so give that spot a go if you’re having a slow day
ross i just bought one on ebay and looking forward to it coming. just a question on another add you had two sizes but i couldnt get one of each. does the big one do small as well.
The weight doesn’t really matter if you’re using lead line or a diving paravane. If I’m using metal lures, I’d usually opt for 7g, soft baits on 1/12oz jig heads and Tasmanian Devils can be any size really. There’s plenty of lures that will work, it’s usually just a case of trying different styles and colours to see what works - our favourite is the pink/black Tasmanian devil
