I want your coming to Japan. My favorite Japanese railroad company is Meitetsu(1:24, 3:50, 8:56). I think you can know some interesting things other than train.
One can see that you really spend a long time in Japan. I'm always impressed by the huge variety of your footages all over the country through many years and seasons. Loved that short sunset scene at Funamachi.
Many an hour,I spent on the North East Corridor,formerly the Pennsylvania Mainline from New York to Harrisburg,and Washington! A very well laid out 4 track,high speed line,but the JNR/JR,makes it look like a side show! The sheer density of traffic,both narrow gauge,and standard,is mind boggling,as it seems no matter where you turn,there's roughly a 5 minute headway,with 8 tracks going full tilt!! No wonder Nikon,and Fujifilm were world leaders,they had to innovate,or the would have lost their customer base! All praise should go to the locomotive,and rolling stock makers,as they always seem to top each other,in speed and amenities! We could learn plenty about how to run railroads from Japan,thank you for your sense of humor,and excellent editing! Thank you!!👍👍👍👍👍💯💯💯💯💯
When I was like around 5-8 years old, my mom flew me from the United States to Japan to visit grandparents; as soon as I heard the train announcements it just struck me with nostalgia of that time, I miss Japan, I want to go back someday
Wow! Thank you for a fantastic exciting and entertaining video with excellent editing.The color schemes of all the various trains along with all the locations and mutiple meets. The view of an empty well car at 8:32 was cool and the meets at 12:45 also. I have watched this video twice so far and adding it to my favorites and forwarding to my freinds.
As a American rail fan these trains in Japan are making me crazy like I love these trains and there are everywhere and I really love the steam locomotives and I love the two trains racing each other the most exciting thing I ever seen for years because I trains and train racing and this is the video that im looking for.
In Japan, about 33 percent of the people use railways, which is higher than private cars. Japan's complex and beautiful railway, which comes from the demand of as many as 40 million people, symbolizes the beauty of Japanese cities. The train types, 27,000 kilometers of operating routes, and the world's best bullet train Shinkansen show Japan's extraordinary love for railways.
@@RailwayScholar Let me guess, this one is in Akita and the other is in Yamagata. Both connect with Tohoku Shinkansen trains for the journey to Tokyo (the one in Akita is to Morioka and the Yamagata one is in Sendai.) It's a trap to find English-speaking Japan railfans, and it seems you fell into it.
This is sign that im obsessed, i look at 1:15 and thinking... wait i know place that train above the tracks to another side, its Yamanote between Meguro and Ebisu station.... i know form investigating one scene from Kamen Raider OOO (where they loved to place scenes with trains) because i liked how tracks looked like there ^^;
In recent years, there have been attempts to disperse passenger traffic during rush hours, such as running commuter expresses on freight-only lines, but even so, not all passengers can be transported comfortably. That's how large the population of Tokyo is, and how many people also use the railroads.
I noticed that the Japanese Railways rolling stock is mostly composed of EMUs or DMUs. Whenever i look for videos of JR trains hauled by locomotives like EF65, EF81, EF510 or DF200 I never find much other than some seasonal express train or freight trains. Is there a specific function behind JR's preference on multiple units over classic "engine + carriages" composition? I'm very curious
It’s a really efficient way of delivery high-density urban passenger services. Trains are standardised formations, power and weight distributed through the whole train, no shunting at terminals, maintenance is integrated (i.e. no separated carriage sheds vs loco depots). The concept has gradually replaced almost all loco-worked passenger trains over time: e.m.u. operation was applied to the Shinkansen from the start in 1964. Europe and America has retained loco-hauled working by evolving into a lot of push-pull operation using cab-cars at the trailing end, Amtrak trains do a lot of tiresome backup moves which add time to the trip.

0:37 yo it’s the Keisei Skyliner (the one that looks like a Shinkansen but it’s not)
I'd argue that Odakyu VSE or Kintetsu Shimakaze/Hinotori is more shinkansen-like than Keisei Skyliner.
