The Most Easy Ham bread made at home / Receita Pan de Jamón Venezuelana

  • This bread is a famous traditional bread from Venezuela, that is usually popular at Christmas time, in Portugal it has become more and more popular to have at Christmas and is sold in most bakeries in Madeira Island, so i decided to make mine at home and this is the recipe I make.
    This bread is really easy to make if you have a mixer it will be quicker to make if you are doing it by hand just follow the video I do mine by hand.
    After you make the dough for your bread you need to let it rise for 40/60 minutes, if you live in a warm climate like me it only took 30 minutes to rise but the longer you leave it the better.
    after you make the bread put it in a tray with baking paper and in a warm place to rest and rise again for 30/40 minutes before it goes in the oven.
    Oven instructions:
    It goes in the oven at 170cº for 25 minutes, then you take it out of the oven and with the egg and molasses mix brush it all over your bread, then put it back in the oven for an extra 15 minutes to finish baking. Let it cool down before you cut it.
    For the bread : (this is enough to make 3) if you just want to do 1 you can freeze for when needed.
    1kl of plain flower
    10g of dry yeast or 30g of fresh yeast
    150g of sugar
    200g of butter
    3 tsp or 9g of salt
    500ml of milk
    2 eggs
    For the filling: for each bread
    200g of raisins
    250g of smoked ham
    150g of smoked bacon
    250g of green olives no pip ( you can use the one with stuffed peppers)
    Bread wash
    1 egg
    2 tsp of sugar cane honey or molasses
