I have a masters in music comp and IMO, Gino Vanelli is the greatest living composer/arranger/vocalist. A good friend (now deceased) turned me on to his music in the 70’s and I’ve been a fan ever since…..and try to expose others to his music.
If you haven't done so already, check out his album "Storm at Sunup" - that album will really take you on a journey...best heard on vinyl because of the way some of the tunes transition into one another.

Méconnu en France jusqu'à Black cars. Avec Gino, je me suis toujours senti sur une autre planète à ressentir des choses que l'on ne m'avait jamais proposé, et que l'on ne me proposerait jamais. En 80, des rumeurs ont couru que nous l'avions perdu. Fausses évidemment, mais dramatiques pour autant. Plus tard, c'est l'inspiration qu'il perdit pour moi. Et il revint en 95 et aujourd'hui plus fort que jamais. Mais quelle chance nous avons aujourd'hui, d'avoir le Web pour découvrir de tels joyaux. Merci à ceux qui les relaient.. Ni adepte, ni fan.. I pochi commenti sono purtroppo sinonimo di un ignoranza che supera confini....sentire e vedere una Leggenda Planetaria come Vannelli non è da tutti i giorni,ma soprattutto colpisce la semplicità che pochissimi artisti hanno, è cioè esibirsi senza troppi ma o perché,dove è... è,basta che si canti...ecco il Genio, basta che si canta,lui è nato per questo....Sono orgogliosissimo di una Leggenda musicale come Vannelli,del fatto che abbia origini italiane, è lui lo è eccome,canta in italiano,sentite i il brano dedicato al padre o la collaborazione con Gianni Bella, c'è poco da dire, è nato con la melodia nel sangue,certi Artisti non hanno bisogno di essere valutati,si sentono e basta,poi ognuno di noi ha un suo parere,ma vuoi mettere Gino Vannelli,ragazzi vedetevi dei concerti,dei numerosissimi concerti e date innumerevoli in America... tutto esaurito come oggi del resto...le donne non avevano occhi che per lui,quanti matrimoni distrutti per il semplice fatto di vederlo con la camicia di raso bianca sul palco,petto villoso, insomma ragazzi questo non solo scriveva testi e musica ,e nel mondo sono pochi, molto pochi,ma faceva impazzire le donne !!!! Why…? I hate it when solos are played note for note. This guy is doing his own great interpretation of it and i love it! It still has elements of the original solo but also a lot of his own great ideas. And he also has a great sound!
The drummer plays entirely too loud, too much banging and needs to blend more. I couldn’t stand playing with the guy.. I am a bass player for 40 years. I know what I’m talking about and he drowns out everybody. Why do you think the guitar player gave him that glance before his lead it’s like dude please bring it down. Let somebody else have a highlight.🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪 Gino Vannelli is a drummer himself. I’m surprised he hired this guy he’s a banger. He’s got amazing chops. I’ll give him that, but man he plays too loud. He doesn’t blend with the rest of the band…..
